Avatar m tn hi i get jaw pain alot at night. i have a nite guard from the dentist but it doesnt always help. i get some bad headaches which is muscle pain as i get bothersome shoulders. and advil and tylenol dont help at all. the smornig i woke up and my left ear feels full. it was really itchy inside but only the outside of the ear hurts not the inside at all. i can feel that my jaw joint has like a knot in it. its the headaches i cant stand.
Avatar f tn Hi, about 2 weeks ago I woke up in the middle of the night clenching my jaw like crazy., I was in chronic pain all night and for two days following. I couldn't eat or speak I had to take hydrocodone every few hours just to knock me out so I didn't have to feel the pain. Today, now two weeks later my jaw is still very sore.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you are in so much pain and don't have insurance to get things fixed. Unfortunately jaw joint problems are expensive. Grinding your teeth at night is a big problem because it wears down the joints. For about $300 (dentist) - $600 (orthodontist) you can get a bite splint (retainer) made. It covers your teeth so it prevents damage to the teeth themselves. But it also keeps the jaw joints slighly open at night so you aren't doing as much damage to the jaw joints.
Avatar n tn I woke up yesterday with horrendous jaw pain (mostly left side). Has anyone experience this? Any suggestions on how to relieve the pain? Or what may be causing it?
Avatar n tn About a week ago I had such a terrible "toothache" I could hardly stand it. I took two rapid release tylenol, the pain went away and I thought may be it had been caused by clenching my jaw during the day (without realizing it). Anyway, the pain came back again yeasterday with a vengence! My lower jaw on my left side has severe pain that lasts several minutes then subsides for a while. The upper jaw on the left side is also effected but isn't as severe.
Avatar m tn s a very good idea to seek therapy ~ it can make a world of difference in your life! Regarding the jaw pain; clenching jaw muscles can affect your neck and jaw, it is actually a common symptom for many people who suffer from anxiety. If it is extreme, you can ask your dentist for a mouth guard, which can help reduce the pain and also save your teeth from any future damage ( use it at night while you sleep, or if you nap anytime)...
1305767 tn?1361192676 I do clench and grind my teeth at night, have for a long time. Sometimes I wake and my jaw and neck hurts so bad from it but the pain has always subsided within ten minutes. I also clench my jaw during the day and don't realized it until it starts aching.
2932946 tn?1344722012 I have tmj my whole life and mines so bad my ra dr says there's absolutly nothin they can do for me. It hurts everyday...some days soo bad I can barely talk and have to force myself to eat....ask your dentist.
Avatar f tn For several years, I have experienced severe jaw nerve pain. The pain is located very deep in the jaw behind my teeth, almost in my neck. I have been to several dentists, had xrays and exams and they cannot find a problem. I liken the pain to eating a lemon....that piercing feeling you get in the jaw ...only multiplied about 50 times. This is very painful and aspirin, muscle relaxers, pain medication etc does not relieve it at all.
Avatar n tn AT THE END OF APRIL, THE PAIN RETURNED. MY ORAL SURGEON CHECKED ME AGAIN, AS DID MY REGULAR DENTIST. IN ADDITION TO THE JAW PAIN, I WAS HAVING EAR PAIN, AND THE GUM AREA (WHERE THE TOOTH WAS) WAS VERY SORE. THE ORAL SURGEON REFERRED ME TO A GUM SPECIALIST WHO SAID MY GUM LOOKED OK, BUT I MIGHT NEED AN INPLANT. THE EAR PAIN CONTINUED, SO I WAS SENT TO AN ENT DOCTOR WHO SAID MY EAR LOOKED FINE.
659608 tn?1318289366 I have been having it in the day and at night. It starts right at my ear, and extends down toward windpipe.Lately it is little sharp pains lasting just a few seconds, but really bothersome. I have been reading that women may have that kind of symptom before a heart attack. I had Rheumatic fever as a young child, and have never been told I had any heart damage.
Avatar n tn I had my wisdom teeth (all of them, and they all were impacted) removed in March. Since then, I have experienced the same kind of jaw pain I had before the surgery. It's almost as if the teeth were never removed. It's not a consistent pain, but it comes and goes for at least a few days out of every week. It's mostly just annoying, but it can get pretty severe and it is often accompanied by earaches and headaches.
Avatar f tn That helped for a short time. There are days that I still wake up with pain radiating from my right jaw all the way up the side of my head. It can last for days. I take naprosen for pain. That usually helps a little but I would like to find a more permanent treatment. I was punched in the face in the jaw area several years ago, this has contributed to the pain.
Avatar f tn It is only when I am resting and so far only at night. The pain is mild but I have no idea what it is. I am 16 and im very healthy as far as i know. I run and have been swimming a lot more recently. Does anyone else have these problems? Im pretty sure you can't get heart burn in this area.
1947337 tn?1331423890 If it is a bad tooth im really scared to go to dentist because I had to have 2 jaw teeth pulled about 6 months ago because they were so bad granted, I have never had bad teeth before, anyway, getting those pulled were excrutiating and I was in pain for 3 months in my neck and jaw. I did not know at the time that I had chiari or I might have not had them pulled. I was only diagnosed about a month ago with a 20mm extension. Fixing to start PT and on pain meds, valium, and steroids.
Avatar m tn the left side of my neck hurts toward the side (main muscle/tendon going down from the jaw to the shoulder, and under my jaw, from what I can tell is inside my jaw. there are ridges on my jaw towards my chin that hurt, and also the space in between my jaw hurts. Don't know if it is glandular or tmj related. odd stuff. Cannot see my doc until next Thursday. anything that I can do?
Avatar n tn I have frequent jaw pain, jaw numness and jaw that crack when I chew on something at some point. I saw a dentist lately and he told me that everithing is normal with my teeth an jaw on the x-ray. I also have pain in my ears due to that! My best guess whould be that it is a Chiari symptome.
230948 tn?1235844329 (at different times) Lately, in this new flare of symptoms, I’m having facial numbness and tingling. Then, I started getting jaw pain, in not only my right jaw…but now my left jaw too. Every time I chew…it sets it off…just like it used to do to my right jaw. With all these facial/jaw episodes…I’m now wondering if all along, I’ve had Trigeminal Neuralgia. I have a couscin with MS, TN, & Fibro. Any thoughts???
Avatar f tn How long does it take the pain to go away and how long until I can opean my jaw the hole way again.
Avatar f tn I then have to lay in bed for a minute or two to let the pain go away. It only happens when i have to pee though, and only at night. Could it be from being curled up and stretching my leg to fast, or how the baby is laying on my bladder? Also i dont think i have a uti because i just went to the doctors Tuesday and they didnt say anything about a uti.
