I was recently diagnosed with a more sever form of lyme disease and am going to be given Intravenous Antibiotics through an IV form for 30 days. They have to keep certain tubes inside so it can be done everyday. I'm just curious about how much/how many tubes there will be put that are visible on the outside that I have to go through each day with. Thanks so much! Kelly.

The danger is the infection will go into the bone and result in osteomyelitis, which may mean weeks on an intravenous line in a hospital. Oral antibiotics do not work well for toe infections. Soaking in salt water will enhance the chances of developing osteomyelitis.
You should get an x-ray film of the toe and ideally the infection be cultured.

I had an HIV antibody test done about one week after I came off the IV antibiotics which came back negative. Does the strong IV antibiotics affect the HIV antibody test results, since the HIV antibody test was soon after the IV antibiotic treatment?

Some wounds may require packing (needs to be looked at everyday for a week or until packing has been totally removed) and intravenous antibiotics (needing to be administered 3 times a day for a week or so). This was the case for my daughter. My sister applied hot compresses to the area until it came to the surface and began draining. I'm sure she went to the doctor and received antibiotics...just not the IV type.

While on holiday in Spain i began having terrible pain when urinating,Ive started getting up a couple of times a night to pee and its extremely painful,but surprisely as the day goes on the pain subsides.I Know its getting worse as the pain is almost constant during the morning now,the pain is in my pelvic area and round the right side.Ive been to see my doctor and he told me to do a urine sample which im taking to the lab on Monday.
I also had a pee sized lump behind my ear, although I did not have the pain. Mine was a simple calcium deposit (hard as a rock). Because you have pain that may or may not be associated with this lump a call to your MD is highly recommended. The decision is yours.
Certain medications, particularly intravenous Vancomycin, cause such pain. This (and other) mediations are extremely irritating to the tissues. One of the problems is the drip was run too fast. Commonly the pharmacy attachment states "75 minutes" while the drip should really be run in at 120 minutes. he intravenous sites are rotated (left arm, then right arm) and an antihistamine is often prescribed.
You need an immediate MRI to determine if there is osteomyelitis. And a culture from the wound. Oral antibiotics don't travel well to the extremities. Generally the drill is intravenous vancomyacin for several weeks. Look for redness around the wound and purplish discoloration. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. This does not appear to a normal healing process. You may or may not have an infection and may or may not have osteomyelitis. Only an MRI can act as a diagnosis for osteomyelitis.
