antibiotics

Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with a more sever form of lyme disease and am going to be given Intravenous Antibiotics through an IV form for 30 days. They have to keep certain tubes inside so it can be done everyday. I'm just curious about how much/how many tubes there will be put that are visible on the outside that I have to go through each day with. Thanks so much! Kelly.
Avatar n tn If you are having recurrent infections with scarring you may want to talk to your urologist about removing the AUS and starting intravenous antibiotics. A new device may be implanted again, but a a rest period of 3-6 months is recommended before proceeding with a new artificial urinary sphincter placement.
8075190 tn?1401035475 I just did a little research ... often intravenous antibiotics. (Antibiotics through an IV) when you go into labor and every four hours during labor. You can always tell them no. 1 in 200 babies delivered with moms that are carriers of gbs will actually get infected.
Avatar f tn where problem arises is surgeon s job is to do surgery and after surgery he should refer to a specialist physcian to get proper strong antibiotics first few days intravenous for 7 days and then orally.also with antibiotics he should prescribe strong pain killers and chymotrypsin for early recovery along with sitz bath and povidone iodine soln to clean the ana area.
Avatar f tn If you test positive for it doctors will just prescribe intravenous (IV) antibiotics during labor and delivery to prevent transmission to your baby
Avatar f tn The danger is the infection will go into the bone and result in osteomyelitis, which may mean weeks on an intravenous line in a hospital. Oral antibiotics do not work well for toe infections. Soaking in salt water will enhance the chances of developing osteomyelitis. You should get an x-ray film of the toe and ideally the infection be cultured. Osteomyelitis is very nasty and can spread to the metatarsals and the leg, which could result in amputation of the toe, foot or leg.
Avatar n tn ve had a bad urine infection and was admitted in to hospital for 24hrs to be put on an intravenous drip of antibiotics and now I'm back home I've got another 5 days of tablets to take. 3 days after leaving hospital I suffered a daytime siezure (my first ever one) in the middle of the street - which was quite frightening. I guess my question is whether or not the antibiotics are messing with the keprra, or could the seizure have been caused by my body being overtired and run down?
Avatar n tn So im on an intravenous receiving antibiotics and there is a bruise above the sight of the iv insertion spot I was just wondering if this might be caused by the medication going in. It did the same hing to the opposite arm.
Avatar f tn is it really safe to take antibiotics for u.t.i during pregnancy? its my 6thwiks, 1st baby, a bit worried..
1821865 tn?1317522031 will not cure an MRSA infection. Often a shunt (usually in the arm) has to be surgically emplaced and intravenous antibiotics administered for an extended period of time.
Avatar f tn So today I was told by my midwife that I have tested positive for group B strep. She didn't really explain what it is and told me not to google it. I planned on giving birth In a birthing centre but I'm aware I would have to be on antibiotics through intravenous drip when my waters break. Does anyone have any info on group b strep? What it is? I'm curious to know, but sometimes things on google are exaggerated.
Avatar f tn Ocasionally bacterial pneumonia requires a short period of hospitalization and intravenous antibiotics. Drink plenty of liquids, walk around a bit, and take 1000mg of vitamin C every day. Don't worry too much. If, during the night the difficulty in breathing gets worse, don't hesitate to call 911.
Avatar f tn t fight infections, so if you test positive, during your labor you will recurve intravenous antoniotics, usually penicillin, but there are alternatives available in case of allergies. Most babies won't contract it from a positive mother. I know a couple women who didn't complete the antibiotics because their labor was too short, and their babies are perfectly healthy.
Avatar m tn During ovulation, I injected during sex. An hour later, I took the 72-hour emergency contraceptive levonorgestrel, two tablets of 0.75 mg. Is my girlfriend more likely to get pregnant? Sorry, my English is not very good.
Avatar n tn Often surgery is the only way to remove these infections. It is likely that the antibiotic you are taking may not affect the specific strain of bacteria in the infection. You may require an in-hospital intravenous infusion. There are many new strains of bacteria around that will not die when subjected to the usual round of broad spectrum antibiotics. I would suggest you see a specialist in infection and wound care for a consult.
Avatar m tn Intravenous antibiotics**** don't know if the text I read was referring to drugs as medication, or hallucinogen drugs
Avatar m tn I had an HIV antibody test done about one week after I came off the IV antibiotics which came back negative. Does the strong IV antibiotics affect the HIV antibody test results, since the HIV antibody test was soon after the IV antibiotic treatment? Please let me know. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Some wounds may require packing (needs to be looked at everyday for a week or until packing has been totally removed) and intravenous antibiotics (needing to be administered 3 times a day for a week or so). This was the case for my daughter. My sister applied hot compresses to the area until it came to the surface and began draining. I'm sure she went to the doctor and received antibiotics...just not the IV type. The reason some wounds need "packing"...
Avatar f tn While on holiday in Spain i began having terrible pain when urinating,Ive started getting up a couple of times a night to pee and its extremely painful, but surprisely as the day goes on the pain subsides.I Know its getting worse as the pain is almost constant during the morning now,the pain is in my pelvic area and round the right side.Ive been to see my doctor and he told me to do a urine sample which im taking to the lab on Monday.
Avatar m tn I also had a pee sized lump behind my ear, although I did not have the pain. Mine was a simple calcium deposit (hard as a rock). Because you have pain that may or may not be associated with this lump a call to your MD is highly recommended. The decision is yours.
Avatar m tn Certain medications, particularly intravenous Vancomycin, cause such pain. This (and other) mediations are extremely irritating to the tissues. One of the problems is the drip was run too fast. Commonly the pharmacy attachment states "75 minutes" while the drip should really be run in at 120 minutes. he intravenous sites are rotated (left arm, then right arm) and an antihistamine is often prescribed.
Avatar m tn You need an immediate MRI to determine if there is osteomyelitis. And a culture from the wound. Oral antibiotics don't travel well to the extremities. Generally the drill is intravenous vancomyacin for several weeks. Look for redness around the wound and purplish discoloration. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. This does not appear to a normal healing process. You may or may not have an infection and may or may not have osteomyelitis. Only an MRI can act as a diagnosis for osteomyelitis.
