Avatar f tn I have a nurse come by daily to clean and repack the wound in my foot and administer antibiotics. I developed Toxic Shock after foot surgery and hardware placement. I had Osteomyelitis which resulted in the removal of significant bone in my foot during an emergency surgery. I'm still nerves about the Osteomyelitis spreading or coming back, yet my Doc tells me not to worry. Hey, it's not his foot! As for the Nurse visits; WATCH everything they do. Wash hands when they come in.
Avatar n tn I had this happen big-time with my thyroid surgery and ended up on antibiotics and took double the time to heal ..... no real answer/reason why except sometimes body resists the stitches and/or type of sutures used. Yours may be totally different reason ... do let us know.

Cataract Specialist #1: Recommends target Plano. Does NOT do intracameral antibiotic injection at end of Cataract Surgery because "No studies have proven it to be effective".

Avatar m tn in the sense that areas that involve passage of feces (Like colon/intestinal surgery) would require antibiotics. Some doctors give some antibiotics as prophylaxis when there are heart valve issues - but as I said, prostate surgery shouldn't be too risky where this heart valve infection is concerned.
Avatar f tn help with my beagle, she,s had been on antibiotics from surgery on leg , she has now developed irritation in skin folds around the vulva ....red and swollen pretty sure its yeast infection/fungal just wondering can I use human products like canestan/clotrimozole cream on that area.. would it hurt her if she licked the cream. I am taking her to the vet on Monday but in the meantime I would like to try ease the discomfort she is constantly licking the area.

That I developed these horrible UTIs The first after that Siri sent me to ER horrible pain I had to be put on morphine. I was being told to not worry about the stinging/ discomfort etc. and it was just post op pain so I tried to ignore and not worry and ended up I. ER.
Avatar f tn Hi I looked this up, it used to be called Macrobid. It is just for bladder infections so that is good. If your doctor knows about your liver, I think this would be safe. I am not a doctor but I also have compensated cirrhosis and always worry about antibiotics. I learned that penicillin or penicillin family is the safest. In your case, it sounds like it is worth it to use it. Good luck!

Avatar m tn Unusually infecion might not be the cause like in the conditions such as Reflux of sterile urine (urine without bacteria) through the ejaculatory ducts may cause inflammation with obstruction. Did you have any surgery in the genito urinary tract in the past, which might predispose to such an infection? I suggest that you strict to the new generation of antibiotics like ceftriaxone and then further evalute through the urologist.

Avatar f tn I'm on Norpace XR (anti-arrythmic) for Afib and I'm not supposed to take any of the antibiotics ending in "mycin" or Biaxin. Another post on this board said they landed in ICU after doing just that. It can cause a fatal heart rhythm. Another recent post suggested that one should double check with the doctor and/or pharmacist because there is some data that says some antibiotics are more likely to cause trouble than others.

This pain has persisted and he is able to relax only through painkillers. In addition, there was a slight swelling of the inner thigh and ultrasound revealed infection in 3-4 lymph nodes. This swollen thigh is not painful, however. The doctors have said that the pain has to do with surgery trauma and have prescribed him antibiotics.

3148906 tn?1343695795 Thank you Smiley2000 I had the tooth pulled but the oral surgeon did not pack it with antibiotics so now food is in the extraction site and my gum have swollen. Now I have to go back and they will flush it out then pack it. Let's see what happens next.

Where she made the excision, there is a small thin line that's fading more and more every month. However what i'm wondering about is the blood vessels that appear to be feeling the thin line.
