antibiotics

Avatar f tn I had open heart surgery when I was 10 years old and now I am 32 years old. I had ASD repair. Is it really necessary for antibotic before any dental work? I might just ask this forum just incase,on the docotor forum it was full today. I can not have any antibotic orally due to stomach/intestinal problems and its becoming a hassle now just to get an appointment for infusion of antibotics to coinside with dental appointment just for dental work.
Avatar n tn If one was infected with syphilis and had an orthepedic surgery two months later, would the antibiotics given through iv before surgery and the antibiotics taken after surgery in pill form kill the bacteria? Or would it not cure the bacteria and end up concealing the secondary rash?

The day after on wendsday i went in to pay him and he asked my how i was doing, it was only then he realized i wasn not on any antibiotics and he prmptly gave me 4 200 millgrams of amoxicliin> i asked him if i needed more and he said i should be good.
Avatar m tn The doctor seems qualified but I would like more answers before the surgery. Also, should my son take antibiotics before or after surgery to keep infections at bay? I am comforted in reading that the success rate is 95% and I know my son will be fine. I just want all questions answered in my mind before that day. Thank you for any information you can provide regarding this.
Avatar m tn Antibiotics would have eliminated the threat for std transmissions however what kind of antibiotics were prescribed to you. Not all antibiotics are the same, you know? But I am sure antibiotics given to you may be able to help in some way.
Avatar f tn They will also need to know that you are on it in any event, as they should know about all medications you are taking. Sometimes when you have surgery you are given antibiotics whilst you are in the theatre, to prevent possible infection (called prophylactic treatment). You should check what if any antibiotics they might give you because you may need to use condoms (or refrain from having sex) as some antibiotics lessen the effectiveness of the pill.
Avatar m tn Try some probiotics to see if perhaps the number and type of bacteria in your intestinal tract changed with the surgery and antibiotics. When that happens people can and do experience some rather severe changes in their bowel habits and probiotics can be helpful in some cases. There are a number of good brands on the market including Culturelle, FloraQ and Digestive Advantage-IBS among others. In addition, if you're allowed fiber, add more of it to your diet.
Avatar m tn Hi, understand your anxiety. Before initiating the antibiotics the pus should be sent for culture and sensitivity, otherwise it may not show a growth. The antibiotics prescribed are covering both gram positive and negative bacteria. It could sometimes be due to anaerobic infections. They are usually treated with metronidazole. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.

410234 tn?1206634191 I know how hard of a decision this is. I did have surgery when I was trying to get pregnant. The first surgery (not first surgery but first for trying to get pregnant) did not work but the second surgery I had (about 8 months later) I did get pregnant 3 months after that with clomid. I now have a baby but it was a very difficult pregnancy. So I do believe the surgery helps. Actually I got pregnant after the first surgery also but I did miscarry (2nd miscarriage).
Avatar f tn bottle of Gatorade and drink it all the day before surgery. Has anyone else done this and I am hoping I will not get sick. Thought I was reading the instructions wrong at first, but , yep for sure, its the whole Miralax Jar.
725998 tn?1258048708 It is normal to feel a little apprehensive before your surgery. The other ladies are spot on. Reading to much can make you a nervous wreck. It sounds like your doctor is on the ball and he can't say for sure what the cyst is until they get a biopsy of the cyst. I suggest that you take some time for yourself before your surgery and do something that makes you feel good ( a manicure, pedicure, new haircut....). THis will help you relax and take your mind off of stuff for a bit.
Avatar f tn What type of surgery are you having? There is a great thread on here, "top 10 things I have learned from laparoscopic cyst/ovary removal". It's very informative and light hearted enough to maybe assuage your fears. What aspects of the surgery are worrying you? Have you had any surgical procedures before? Many of us on here have had surgery recently, so if you let us know your specific concerns I'm sure someone will be able to help.
7595935 tn?1392396868 My surgery was in March 2002. I lived on another planet for about a month after surgery while my body adjusted to everything. When lying down my feet felt like they were floating, etc. I also couldn't hold my head up completely straight because the muscles in your neck are cut during surgery. All this to say that you won't be able to do much, or anything for that matter, for about a month afterwards so hopefully you have someone to take care of your kids.
Avatar f tn I went to the emergency dentist yesterday morning BC I was up allll night before with a horrible toothache. Well I guess I have a slight infection in my wisdom tooth and it needs to be extracted asap but he wanted me to take the med first for a few days. Its on my sheet of same meds from my doctor and both dentist and pharmacist said it was fine but I'm so Leary! I guess infection is more harmful. I've never taken it before and intact, having taking any medication since I was about 15..
1711570 tn?1309811718 i was diagnosed with urine infection a few days after surgery to remove a large ovarian cyst. the only sympton i had was severe stomach cramps which i thought was associated to the the surgery but after a urine test at the a&e, they found that it was a urnine infection. i was given antibiotics, which didn't take into effect until the 3rd/4rth day. i've now finished the prescribed course, however, i've found that my urine is still very yellow despite me drinking more than 1.
