Avatar m tn with molluscum contagiosum which is the best way to have them removed for the fastest results and the least painful and if there is a healing process how long does it take?
Avatar f tn My boyfriend and I both developed small bumps on our backs that appeared overnight. They are persistent, they do not come or go. We've had them for a year now. They do not seem to be spreading. Diagnosis was acne or rash due to soap but we have ruled those out. The only treatment seems to be 30% hydrogen peroxide. The bumps are itchy. We tried Benzoil peroxide, neosporin and lotrimin with no results.
1295255 tn?1273117952 I have had these bumps for about 5 months now, I have been to a doctor that said it can be warts or molluscum and she referred me to a Dermatologist that is why I post the picture in this group or forum. I have no health insurance so I decide not to go. From this picture can anybody tell me what this is? Thanks for all help, It's greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn d like to get a culture test or something to make absolutely sure!. Medication for Molluscum is terrifying (Aldara/Imiquimod is not only expensive, but will leave me looking like a belong in the burn ward) PLEASE tell me that you've figured this out!?, and please tell me they've gone away!? Has anyone else had these symptoms? Any ideas?
Avatar m tn took a look at the small bumps I have and I was told it was Molluscum Contagiosum and was prescribed Imiquimod. The other woman I have seen has not shown any symptoms of anything that I am aware of or at least she has not told me anything. I am just a little intrigued and curious to know if there is any link between the two viruses and should I be concerned about any other STD.
Avatar m tn I finally went to a doctor who looked at it and told me I have genital warts. However all my tests came back negative. I got tested for everything to HPV to HIV to Herpes, it was full panel test. Someone told me it could possible be Molluscum Contagiosum? Any thoughts? And whats the best way to get rid of this? My doctor gave my Imiquimod Cream but it seems to be making it worse Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have been screened for STDs in January and I was negative for everything. I will head back to my doctor to have them further examined. But my main concern is if my doctor misdiagnosed these bumps. Is it possible? Are warts and molluscum easily mixed up?
Avatar m tn My dermatologist told me the only way to remove these two warts is to freeze them. She also said that it would take a few weeks for it to heal afterwards and that my face wouldn't be too pretty. Is there an alternative way to remove the lip warts? These "warts" look different from others I have seen. Does Blistex cream really work?
Avatar m tn I got married and did unprotected sex with my wife for quite a while. I was molluscum free till now when I found out that two new bumps have developed. I went to the derm and he pricked them off with a needle, but told that the regular white core was not found in them. They could be molluscum or something else. My questions please - Could i have transmitted the virus to my wife in the absence of the bumps ? Its been three months already I have been struggling with the bumps.
Avatar m tn However, resolution can be speeded up by treatment, usually by a dermatologist just scraping away the lesions (less painful than it sounds) or freezing them. Imiquimod (Aldara), used for genital warts, also appears to be effective but it is slow.
Avatar m tn ve been infected with these each of these viruses for at least a year. I was wondering what you recommend the next step for treatment for me should be. Do I have more aggressive strains of these viruses that makes them come back? Or is my body more susceptible to them? Is there solid evidence suggesting that lifestyle has a significant effect on my body's ability to fight off these viruses?
Avatar m tn Hello, Unfortunately it is not very clear from the picture but it looks like molluscum or genital warts. In adults, molluscum infections are often sexually transmitted and can transmit from one site to other skin sites by aoutoinocultaion. Individual molluscum lesions may go away on their own and are reported as lasting generally from 6 to 8 weeks to 2 or 3 months.
Avatar f tn I'll try to help, but the main thing is to return to your doctor, tell her all you say here then let her work it out. If you're not happy with her understanding or apparent knowledge, find another one. Your local health department STD clinic or a family planning clinic like Planned Parenthood would be good options for expert advice. In any case, you will never get definite answers online, either by looking at information about various infections or asking questions of distant experts.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Aldara/Imiquimod cream for what was thought to be a small genital wart (turns out it is not a wart). I developed and still have these horrible small ulcer like lesions inside my labia. My entire vaginal area became swollen, red, irritated, itchy and burns. I had flu like symptoms as well. Please whatever you do, DO NOT use Aldara / imiquimod cream. Turns out it eats the mucosal lining of any area, and can cause an immune system disease. http://www.doctorsaredangerous.
Avatar f tn Hello, Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub, folliculitis, cysts ,molluscum contagiosum(multiple, small, dome-shaped papules, often with a central depression or plug) or genital warts(caused by HPV infection). Apply warm compresses, Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it.You can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
Avatar f tn 1. The partner who I suspected transmitted it never had any bumps on his genitals, which tells me you can get it w/o the bumps. So, just how easily spread is it? How contagious is the virus when there are no bumps vs. when there are bumps? 2. I'm sure I've touched my genitals and then touched my face/other areas of my body before I knew I had this i.e. before I had any bumps, should I expect these bumps to show up elsewhere on my body? 3.
Avatar m tn My Urologist examined the whitish bumps end of July and basically agreed with you. They haven't gone away, so I recently asked my PCP for an opinion and heard "probably molluscum contagiosum". One of the bumps came apart and it had a small hard white core in it which does indeed make it seem like MC (from what I've read). My partner whom I've been with for nine months hasn't had symptoms since we've been together so I'm at a loss to determine where I got it.
Avatar f tn Have you googled molluscum? It looks totally different than herpes. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/179609 - this has a few pictures. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molluscum_contagiosum - yes, it's wiki, but the pic is good. Molluscum is painless, and herpes hurts.
Avatar m tn Dear doctors , I have a small genital wart on my foreskin and I started to use imiquimod cream recently . The instruction says that I should use the imiquimod cream during bedtime . However , I have more erections during sleep (than day time ), the imiquimod cream might be wiped off by the underwear when I have an erection. In this case , Can I use imiquimod during the day instead of bedtime ?
Avatar n tn I went to a clinic this morning and had a doctor evaluate bumps that I recently noticed in my pubic area. The doctor diagnosed the bumps as molluscum contagiousum. Despite him telling me that the infection is not health threatening, I can't help but feel very upset about this news. I feel embarrassed, ashamed, and am very down on myself for not being more careful. The doctor referred me to a dermatologist for further evaluation and treatment.
Avatar n tn 3) I would like to continue applying the Imiquimod cream, but I also want to monitor my penis over the next 14 days for any signs of herpes. Is it possible that application of Imiquimod cream could delay/alter the appearance of HSV2 lesions, so that I would not know if I have acquired HSV2??? I know the blood test for herpes would not be affected by Imiquimod, but I'm wondering about the appearance of herpes lesions. Can I continue applying the Imiquimod??
Avatar f tn As a newly diagnosed person with GW, I have searched many forums for answers. I haven't come across anything that really answers my questions. So I thought, in the spirit of "paying it forward" I would start a diary of sorts, describing my treatment...the good and the bad. So this is less of a "question"...however, I would like to hear others comments or experiences. Maybe this will help someone that is going through the same thing.
