aldara

Avatar f tn Recently (5/28) diagnosed with molluscum contagiosum and besides from cryotherapy for treatment i also received Aldara cream 5%. (the derm did not get every lump/wart with the liquid nitrogen) Questions I have about this is; How effective is it to be used? Should I apply it with a finger or would a Q-Tip be better or should it be something else? How exactly does it work?
Avatar m tn html?WT.ec_id=NCOMMS-20130305 Aldara is a cream used for topical treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer, and is thought to act through stimulation of anti-tumour immunity. The active ingredient, imiquimod, has been shown to stimulate toll-like receptor 7. Aldara also induces psoriasis-like lesions when applied to naive murine skin, and as such is used as a mouse model for psoriasis. Here we find that in naive murine skin, Aldara induces inflammation largely independently of toll-like receptor 7.
Avatar m tn She did use a cream on him that appeared to temporarily work-- imiquimod cream 5% - drug name Aldara. It has 12 single application doses (each the size of a postage stamp). She writes: "Not much in them so it's hard to only use one on an application. It cost $180 more in some other drugstores. I bought two boxes and used for 5 ½ weeks Monday to Friday as the vet said.
Avatar m tn Hello, Aldara cream or Imiquimod is used for treatment of actinic keratosis, warts and topical treatment of biopsy-confirmed, primary superficial basal cell carcinoma (sBCC) in immunocompetent adults. It is still not confirmed whether your mole is a malignancy or a mole. I would suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist. Confirmation can be done by excisional biopsy with narrow margins.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Aldara/Imiquimod cream for what was thought to be a small genital wart (turns out it is not a wart). I developed and still have these horrible small ulcer like lesions inside my labia. My entire vaginal area became swollen, red, irritated, itchy and burns. I had flu like symptoms as well. Please whatever you do, DO NOT use Aldara / imiquimod cream. Turns out it eats the mucosal lining of any area, and can cause an immune system disease. http://www.doctorsaredangerous.
Avatar n tn Ive been using imiquimod for almost the full term. The area affected is between my scrotum and inner thigh crease. In the matter of a night i got redness and sores. Ive stopped using it and wash daily. It doesnt help that its right where my jeans and underwear ride. Any help in relief?
Avatar n tn Ive been on aldara (imiquimod) 5% for approximately 2 months now. I cant notice if im seeing any improvement with my genital warts. However, ive developed a ridiculous rash around the application site. which is extremely red and irritated. The rash looks almost like if i ran really fast and slid my knee on a rug, except its around the base of my penis. Its sometimes itchy and i feel as if at sometimes its developing a particular scab. will this redness ever go away?
Avatar f tn Hi, Aldara cream contains the active ingredient imiquimod. Imiquimod is an immune response modifier. It causes your body to produce more interferon. Interferon is a substance which your body produces naturally to help fight viruses and some skin diseases. Although the exact way that Aldara works is unknown, it is believed to be due to its effects on the immune system.
Avatar m tn The doc froze them off then he prescribed Aldara cream. He said that I should put the cream right on the spots that he froze. He said that I did not need to wait for those spots to heal and that I could start using Aldara right away. Is this ok?? Also, I am not quite sure if I have other warts on the shaft of my penis. There are a few other very small bumps that I am not sure of. It is ok to rub the Aldara over these spots even if they turn out not to be warts?
Avatar n tn Hello there, thank you for the advice you gave me the other day.I went to my doctor yesterday & he prescribed Aldara cream for me to apply on the warts/skin tags that I have on my face & neck area.Does any one know if this stuff really works,or is there any pre-cautions or side affects that I should be aware of?How long does it take to see results?I was told to apply this cream three times a week.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn If you are using imiquimod cream to treat genital and anal warts, you will probably apply it once a day for 3 days a week (e.g., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday or Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday). Imiquimod cream should be left on the skin for 6 to 10 hours. Continue using imiquimod until all of the warts are healed, i found this on a website. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar m tn Hello I am hoping that one of you have experience or knowledge with the cream Aldara or Imiquimod. I have been using it for about 4 weeks now on anal warts and it has made them pretty much go away. But the itching and burning is EXTREME to say the least and is a minute to minute struggle every day and is ruining my life. I am wondering how long to expect this to continue after I discontinue using the cream or any suggestions for relief until then.
Avatar m tn The areas that have crusted and flaked are red and raw. Do i continue putting the aldara on those regions or should i stop? The cream does not bother me and the rawness is by no means unbearable or even that aggravating. I just genuinely don't know when enough is enough. 3. I have read that the aldara can cause permanent skin discoloration and i was wondering if there is any way i can mitigate the chances of that happening by applying vitamin E oil or neosporin to the affected area.
Avatar f tn Hello, Aldara cream should be applied 3 times per week to external genital/perianal warts. Aldara (imiquimod) Cream treatment should continue until there is total clearance of the genital/perianal warts or for a maximum of 16 weeks. It should be left on the skin for 6 -10 hours, after which time the cream should be removed by washing the area with mild soap and water. It shows results frequently after 6-8 weeks of use.
Avatar n tn He excised off 2 of the bigger warts and prescribed me Aldara (imiquimod) to be applied every mon, wed, and fri to the smaller warts he didn't cut off during the visit. I went a whole month doing this. The Aldara did nothing to the warts and just made my skin irritated (red, tender). I called the dermotologist and advised him, and he said to keep usining the Aldara another month and see what happens.
Avatar m tn I inquired to my doctor about trying Aldara, as I have some old aldara that I tried on my keloid scars years ago, he told me to "try it" and that it should work in three days, after reading much online about people having horrible experiences with this drug i chose to try condyline one more time in my last trial which is where I am now. Now that I can see the warts coming back again, my question is; Should I try using aldara?
Avatar n tn I haven't ever had a reaction like this since I started using Aldara 10 weeks ago. Although, I think I may have gotten some of the cream on an area that was healthy genital skin. Another thing I will note is that I have been wearing tight clothing in hot weather and have had some irritation from that... Any help or advice you can offer would be great. Thank you!
Avatar m tn Should I just give it some more time or is it apparent that Imiquimod isn't going to work for me? Wondering if Podofilox or the stronger 5% Aldara cream would have been a better choice.
1306047 tn?1333247191 Doctor gave me Aldara. Thought I'd pass my thoughts along. I've had warts burned off with nitrogen and cauterized as well. Aldara doesn't seem to be an alternative to me. First, you have to apply three nights a week for three months. Then, the skin on your shaft and balls and get irritated to the point of breaking open and bleeding. If bleeding sores is a side effect of Aldara, why not just get the warts zapped or burnt, have the sore, let it heal and be done with it.
Avatar m tn For small warts several medications(like podophyllum resin, Podofilox (Condylox), Trichloroacetic and bichloroacetic acids, Imiquimod 5% cream and interferons) are available, which can be applied directly to the surface of the warts.Other treatment options include electrical cautery, surgical removal, Carbon dioxide laser treatment and electrodesiccation.
1094370 tn?1317138425 I'm 32 and have had my fair share of basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. I think the cream you are referring to is Imiquimod/Aldara? It is essentially a topical chemo. Generally if it scabs it means it's working. Unfortunately I haven't had great success with it and have had to have the cancer surgically removed. Not sure where you live, but I have fantastic Doctor recommendations in NYC. Let me know if you want more info.
Avatar f tn I have genital HPV and I was treating the warts using Aldara. Applied a lot of the cream Monday to the outside of lower labia minora. Wednesday the labia was hard, swollen and really sore. Friday the swelling was reduced and in it place were 2 sore lesions located just inside the labia. I am now convinced it is herpes from looking at pictures online and reading the symptoms. I am also experiencing tingling down there too!
Avatar n tn I was given Cryotherapy treatment to warts on the head of my penis in my home country and told that if that did not work I should go to a pharmacy in Vietnam to get any Topical cream (Podophyllotoxin - Condylox, Wartec, Warticon, Podofilox, and also Aldara and Imiquimod) if the warts persisted. Unfortunately I have searched through many pharmacies and clinics here in Vietnam, and also in Cambodia, and none stock any of these creams or are much help in providing similar solutions.
Avatar f tn He said that since he wanted it frozen off he had to set an appointment. So they gave he the imiquimod cream to use in the mean time. His discharge papers say "discharge diagnosis: small skin tag(s) on penis (condylomata acuminata)." Why does it say skin tag and genital warts? I'm confused. Which is it?
Avatar m tn Should I just give it some more time or is it apparent that Imiquimod isn't going to work for me? Wondering if Podofilox or the stronger 5% Aldara cream would have been a better choice.
535760 tn?1213894766 Podofilox (Condylox), or Imiquimod (Aldara)? so i have some feedback and concerns to talk to my doc about.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Aldara (imiquimod) to get rid of a few perianal HPV warts since cryotherapy was only making it worse. After only about 2 weeks of usage almost all symptoms of the warts were gone however I now have perianal psoriasis in its place. That is one of the side-effects of imiquimod and it mainly strikes people whom are genetically prone to having psoriasis.
Avatar n tn i held off on using monistat because of the aldara cream. but since aldara seems to be irritating the area sooo much, i've temporarily stopped. i know creams can irritate, but this is pretty brutal.
Avatar n tn Depending on the size and location of the wart, and other factors, a doctor will offer one of several ways to treat them. * Imiquimod (Aldara) a topical immune response cream, applied to the affected area * A 20% podophyllin anti-mitotic solution, applied to the affected area and later washed off * A 0.
