Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
600857 tn?1230057770 m in pain, taking pain meds(percocet, ibuprofen and nuerontin) could the increase be causing this, or the abscense of Valium? I'm taking my meds every 6-8 hrs and I can't sleep.
Avatar n tn I know the bottle I buy of infant tylenol or ibuprofen show recommended doses based on age and weight and of course frequency. Do not ever give more then she should get. I think many of us get overly comfortable because we think that over the counters can't cause to much trouble, but in fact they can be quite dangerous for our kids (and us). If you suspect you have given her too much and she has overdosed, you should call poison control, or have her seen at the ER right away.
Avatar n tn For ulcer treatment, Amoxil is combined with other medications. There are several dosage regimens available, and your doctor will choose the best one for you. If your kidneys are severely impaired or you are undergoing hemodialysis, the doctor may have to adjust your dosage accordingly. Children older than 3 months: Children weighing 88 pounds and over should follow the recommended adult dose schedule. Children weighing under 88 pounds will have their dosage determined by their weight.
Avatar m tn Don't use Ibuprofen. Is it possible to get some aspirin? That's safer for dogs. Ibuprofen is toxic. I hope I haven't caught your question too late....
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
Business man2 In response to one of my previous questions regarding ibuprofen & naproxen, Dr. Murphy wrote... ".... I try to have my patients take very little daily ibuprofen/naproxen as they can lead to kidney disease (based on total lifetime dose), ...
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
907968 tn?1292622204 I imagine they're trained to know which medications work best for which heart problems. As for dosage, I'm not sure. If you look at a PDR the book mentions standard dosages for children, adults and geriatric folks. I know with the antibiotics I use at work we choose which antibiotic works best for which type of injury or specific bacteria. I always calculate dosage according to species (mammals have a different calculation compared to birds or reptiles) and weight.

Avatar n tn I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth. If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause. Do I have need to worry? I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose? Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn Below is copied from Dr Burrascano's treatment guidelines for Lyme (posted on the ILADS website), including an entry on doxycycline [aka doxy] dosage: "Adults: 200 mg bid [meaning twice a day] with food; doses of up to 600 mg daily are often needed, as doxycycline is only effective at high blood levels." So perhaps your doc's doses are on the light side -- I'd ask him, but sometimes docs get huffy. I'd ask him anyway. It's your health we're talking about.
Avatar n tn i have been taking ibuprofen for about 2yrs i want to stop how long will it take for my body to be clear of them
Avatar m tn I am concerned about the weight gain everyone talks about.
Avatar m tn Hello & welcome....Ibuprofen is TOXIC to dogs....It sounds as if she is still in good shape, but needs a prescription for pain meds. from your Vet.....Your Vet will have a selection of meds to treat your girl's, what I beleive to be, Arthrititis....They work wonders.... The yellow bile is stomach acid and the Ibuprofen could possibly be damaging her stomach lining.....Usually, dogs vomit bile when they've gone too long without food.....
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
Avatar n tn I’ve read that the average dosage for adults is 30 mg/day. I’m a 25 year old male. I weigh 220 lbs. and am 5’11”. The only other medication I’m on is 100 mg of Zoloft/day for the treatment of depression. I have no prior medical issues. What would be the appropriate dosage range for me if I were to take this medication? I’ve read that it may have negative effects on the heart. I’m considering talking with my PCP about this but am trying to find out on my own first. Would 60 mg/day be too much?
Avatar f tn Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose. You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it. What are the active ingredients on the bottle? What strength per dose? 2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good. You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.
Avatar f tn My liver doctor says tylenol-only in the recommended dosage, never more. Advil can involve organs other than the liver and since our livers are already under attack, best to keep everything else healthy seemed to be the thought. I always defer to the information from the liver doc, they will be more up to date than doctors of other specialities. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn Despite this the symptoms have now spread to my right hip, right shoulder and slight symptoms in my right knee. I get some relief from taking 400mg of Ibuprofen at night so I can sleep. Is there anything else I can do to try to halt the progression of the disease? Or are there any better meds I can take. I am 54yrs old, female and not over weight and physically active.
Avatar f tn s too rare in adults to have many people collected in one place. But, we understand all of what you suffer. And we have tons of people with other MS mimics. I think it is important to have these other people here, not only because they are a gas, but because we all need to remember that every that looks like MS isn't MS. So, this was always your home, you're back and with a diagnosis (YIPPEE!) and this is your best place! "Kay?
Avatar m tn 5mg 5 hours after I have given her a dose of 3ml ibuprofen (100mg/5ml)? When her tympanic temp is 40.
1001249 tn?1254701721 Your dosage really should depend on your symptoms. Symptoms should be all important. If dosage were only affected by weight, then treatment would be a very simple formula, but there is a lot more to it than that. You really need to be tested for the actual, biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4 (FT3 and FT4). FT3 is the most important because it largely regulates metabolism and many other body functions.
