Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!

Well, an overdose of ibuprofen is usually marked by drowsiness, stomache pains, and trouble breathing. I have never heard of hallucination being a side effect. That being said, when giving our little one's any medication including over the counter, it is extremely important to stick strictly to dosing instructions. I know the bottle I buy of infant tylenol or ibuprofen show recommended doses based on age and weight and of course frequency. Do not ever give more then she should get.

I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?

Don't use Ibuprofen. Is it possible to get some aspirin? That's safer for dogs. Ibuprofen is toxic. I hope I haven't caught your question too late....

Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.

I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth. If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause. Do I have need to worry? I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose? Thank you for your time.

Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).

Okay, I KNOW that I remember being told by the liver doctor who performed my biopsy that if I do need to take a pain reliever that I should take Tylenol. My OB/GYN doctor just told me to take Advil for cramps because it isn't metabolized in the liver. I rarely take anything, but if I do, which is less risky? Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose. You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it. What are the active ingredients on the bottle? What strength per dose? 2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good. You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.

Has anyone heard that the dosage is based on your weight? My numbers are perfect, according to the doctor, however, I am always tired, have reflux problems that the gastro doesn't understand why, I am constantly having hard stools, not gaining or losing weight, and getting very frustrated. I have been taking maximum daily dosage of generic ibuprofen (3200 mg a day, usually 1600mg at a time). I also take 600mg etodolac, 400 in the am and 200 in the pm. I have been having kidney pain on both sides, and excessive sweating. Could this be from taking too much NSAID medication?

Chances are good that it's nothing serious. It may just be the start of perimenopause which can make for unpredictable bleeding. NSAID's (such as ibuprofen) especially a "prescription" dosage can reduce bleeding quite a bit. When you see a doctor you can discuss other medications, hormonal (some type of birth control) or non-hormonal (such as tranexamic acid, brand name Lysteda). Hope it all settles down for you!

Hello & welcome....Ibuprofen is TOXIC to dogs....It sounds as if she is still in good shape, but needs a prescription for pain meds. from your Vet.....Your Vet will have a selection of meds to treat your girl's, what I beleive to be, Arthrititis....They work wonders.... The yellow bile is stomach acid and the Ibuprofen could possibly be damaging her stomach lining.....Usually, dogs vomit bile when they've gone too long without food.....

Hi all, it's me Gretchen. I had my 3rd Nuerolysis yesterday. Lets hope this works for awhile. My question is. My Pain Mgmt DR upped my Nuerontin to 300mg 2x day. He took me off the Valium and Baclofen. He said Valium is not good long term and by upping the Nuerontin I won't need Baclofen. OK. As of yet, no bad side effects, yet I've heard many say things about Nuerontin. Any input would be greatly appreciated. One last thing. I've been feeling amped out.
