Avatar m tn Hello, I was having the numbness and tingling while taking hydrochlorothiazide. I would stop taking it and the numbness/tingle would go away, take it again, and it would come right back. Not sure if he is taking hydrochlorothiazide. They had me on it for edema. I have swelling in my hands and ankles, all tests neg except for CMV. Battling this since April 2008. Hands so swollen, can't open bottles, hold a pen, hold a phone or peel the label off the top of yogurts..ect..
Avatar n tn Icing the spots and liquid antihystamines offer only temporary relief. Along with the hives, random fingers have been getting stiff and are difficult to bend. The pain goes away in one day, but the pain seems to jump to other fingers.
Avatar n tn So, i think we just have to take it slow and not push ourselves too hard on the exercise. The muscle is sensitive and healing and will react when made to work harder than it feels able. I keep depression away by knowing that in a year it will be better if i am kind to my body. I have hashimotos and for the last year have been on thyroid meds. Well, it took about a year for my body to start looking better. So i just realize that change doesn't happen instantaneously.
Avatar f tn around 80 - 90), and also put me on hydrochlorothiazide for water retention. Is this high of blood pressure and pulse normal because of my pcos? I am overweight, 230 lbs, 5' 7". But I walk 2 1/2 miles 3 to 5 days a wk. I have retained water for years, which i always figured was from my pcos. No one in my family has bp problems. I take 2000 mg a day of metformin. I have also been having hot flashes with sweating.
1398693 tn?1343684738 Thank you so much for the information I knew that there are medications that didn't deplete potassium but I couldn't find which ones. right now I'm taking hydrochlorothiazide and Lisinopril and when I started to take the hydrochlorothiazide I kept ending up in the hospital because my potassium level kept dropping mainly because I have had some problems with diarrhea so no matter how much potassium rich foods I hate I couldn't keep my potassium level any higher than 3.
1355431 tn?1369975306 Calcium channel blockers work on one muscle type, which are the arteries and the heart muscle. So, to some extent these will keep the heart relaxed. Hydrochlorothiazide prevents the kidneys from retaining normal levels of water, which is used as a reserve for pumping back into the blood stream to increase pressure. Atenolol is a beta blocker which prevents hormones such as adrenaline from affecting the heart, speeding it up.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide (HTCZ) for high blood pressure since May 2007. Recently I have a feeling that the Hydrochlorothiazide is not working as it used to be. Will HCTZ lose its effectiveness after a certain number of years? Anyone know the answer or having similar experience, please let me know. Thank You In Advance For Your Reply.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar m tn My medication is Diovan 160mg and 12.5 mg valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide. And yes this was a typo should read 121/71 This whole thing drive me crazy---- blood pressure keeps going down as I further into the squash game --- then I get dizzy.......

Avatar f tn I will be transitioning to propanolol 20 mg (and hydrochlorothiazide) twice daily soon - my doctor wants me to transition by taking propanolol - 1/2 of 20 mg twice a day for one week and then the full 20 mg twice daily. Why? Won't that cause rebound hypertension? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Stop Atenolol under a Doctors care?? If the Doctor was competent he would not have prescribed it in the first place. I'm on Atenolol 25 mg for about 1 year for Blood Pressure due to Poly Cystic Kidney Disease, to keep the blood pressure down, together with Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg. I had to go to the Emergency for intense Head Rush, and pain in my left arm.
Avatar n tn Hi, hydrochlorothiazide can sometimes cause nausea and vomiting and also abdominal pain. Check to see if you are having acid reflux which is causing your chest pain. If your symptoms worsen with bending down, it could be acid reflux. Also, have your blood pressures checked, hypotension can cause symptoms of chest pain. Regards.
Avatar f tn This is a follow up to my April 23 posting concerning my severe sweating. Since my doc does not think my problem is thyroid based, I decided to try a different approach. On May 12, I stopped taking HCTZ. I had read that some had had problems with HCTZ and sweating. Gradually, I seemed to have less sweating. Also, the feeling of being hot most of the time seemed to lessen. It is summer, and I do get hot, but others are hot, also. When I do sweat, it seems like a more normal sweat.
Avatar n tn However, this could also be due to some medications such as the combination of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide that is used to treat high blood pressure. Lisinopril is in a group of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) while Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of diuretics. Tingling in the hands and feet along with dizziness, headache and cough are some of the effects that are observed in this drug combination.

Avatar f tn I went to see him the other day because for the past week I have not been feeling well and new something was off. I have been having a pain in my neck and hearing a heartbeat in my ear and having a lot of headaches. So he said that he is going to start me on a water pill to see if that helps to lower it. Now previously, in the past I had once been put on Furosemide. I had a bad reaction to it. I had some of the side effects listed under dangerous side effects and had to stop taking it.
Avatar f tn I have had high levels of calcium and other minerals, have osteoporosis and widespread pain so was evaluated for parathyroid as well. My PTH was normal at retesting, my bone scan was normal and my thyroid scan was too so they ruled out parathyroid tumours in my case.
Avatar f tn My other systems are, numbing in my left arm, pain in my left jaw and some pain in my back. My doctors continue to readjust my blood pressure medicine and says this should work… It has been a week since I was released from the hospital. The adjusting of my medicine is not working.. I have notified my doctor and another readjustment of medicine was made, it still isn't working. Does anyone have any clues of what is going on with me?
