I was having the numbness and tingling while taking hydrochlorothiazide. I would stop taking it and the numbness/tingle would go away, take it again, and it would come right back. Not sure if he is taking hydrochlorothiazide. They had me on it for edema. I have swelling in my hands and ankles, all tests neg except for CMV. Battling this since April 2008. Hands so swollen, can't open bottles, hold a pen, hold a phone or peel the label off the top of yogurts..ect..
(I had high blood presure in 2003-2005, and the water pills (hydrochlorothiazide), DID NOT HELP. MY blood pressure got higher. So, I stopped taking them, and later my blood pressure got better on its own. A doctor said HBP does not go away on its own, so I think it was caused by something else!
However, in the past 6-12 months there has been a significant progression of swelling - from being confined mostly to my ankle and foot for 19 years to spreading up my legs to my buttocks and abdomen in the past year alone. I have also noticed this past week that my fingers are slightly swollen when I wake up. I am very concerned as my family and I no longer believe it to be lymphedema. However, if it were heart or kidney related, I don’t think I could still be living 20 years later.
I have been taking Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide (HTCZ) for high blood pressure since May 2007.
Recently I have a feeling that the Hydrochlorothiazide is not working as it used to be.
Will HCTZ lose its effectiveness after a certain number of years?
Anyone know the answer or having similar experience, please let me know.

My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic.
I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
I AM TAKING HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 25MG. I HAVE BEEN TAKEN THEM FOR 3 YRS NOW. THIS MEDICATION JUST STOP WORKING. MY DOCTOR WANTS TO ADD ANOTHER MEDICATION FOR ME TO TAKE. DOES THIS EVER GET BETTER. STAYS THE SAME OR DO THE MEDICATION YOU ARE TAKE ALWAYS GET ADJUSTED. UNTIL YOU ARE TAKEN 10 DIFFERENT MEDICATION.

I will be transitioning to propanolol 20 mg (and hydrochlorothiazide) twice daily soon - my doctor wants me to transition by taking propanolol - 1/2 of 20 mg twice a day for one week and then the full 20 mg twice daily. Why? Won't that cause rebound hypertension?

Stop Atenolol under a Doctors care?? If the Doctor was competent he would not have prescribed it in the first place. I'm on Atenolol 25 mg for about 1 year for Blood Pressure due to Poly Cystic Kidney Disease, to keep the blood pressure down, together with Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg.
I had to go to the Emergency for intense Head Rush, and pain in my left arm.
Hi, hydrochlorothiazide can sometimes cause nausea and vomiting and also abdominal pain. Check to see if you are having acid reflux which is causing your chest pain. If your symptoms worsen with bending down, it could be acid reflux. Also, have your blood pressures checked, hypotension can cause symptoms of chest pain. Regards.
This is a follow up to my April 23 posting concerning my severe sweating.
Since my doc does not think my problem is thyroid based, I decided to try a different approach. On May 12, I stopped taking HCTZ. I had read that some had had problems with HCTZ and sweating. Gradually, I seemed to have less sweating. Also, the feeling of being hot most of the time seemed to lessen. It is summer, and I do get hot, but others are hot, also. When I do sweat, it seems like a more normal sweat.
However, this could also be due to some medications such as the combination of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide that is used to treat high blood pressure. Lisinopril is in a group of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) while Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of diuretics. Tingling in the hands and feet along with dizziness, headache and cough are some of the effects that are observed in this drug combination.
im using captopril tablet 2months ago i take 2x daily each tablet 25mg,, i felt some xtra palpitation on my heart . and my doctor give me a new medicine aldomet 250mg 2x daily,and amiloridehcl-hydrochlorothiazide. is this good subtitute for the captopril. i am thingking why they give me 250mg,but when im taking captopril 25mg is less dosage but i fell bad.
Looking for good new...found out I am pregnant and am taking Lisinopril 10mg. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I went to see him the other day because for the past week I have not been feeling well and new something was off. I have been having a pain in my neck and hearing a heartbeat in my ear and having a lot of headaches. So he said that he is going to start me on a water pill to see if that helps to lower it. Now previously, in the past I had once been put on Furosemide. I had a bad reaction to it. I had some of the side effects listed under dangerous side effects and had to stop taking it.
My other systems are, numbing in my left arm, pain in my left jaw and some pain in my back. My doctors continue to readjust my blood pressure medicine and says this should work… It has been a week since I was released from the hospital. The adjusting of my medicine is not working.. I have notified my doctor and another readjustment of medicine was made, it still isn't working. Does anyone have any clues of what is going on with me?
although most of the common vision problems and eye pain may be temporary and would be reversed if stopping the medication was what I was told. Further research says HCTZ may be associated with severe eye conditions that may lead to permanent impairment such as glaucoma etc, although I don't know how common that is. I already have a case of cataracts now so I figured it'd be hard to differentiate the side effects if I had them so it worries me.
It started to hurt every time I would walk long distances and would feel like I had my socks bunched up under my toes. It graduated to constant ball of foot pain with numbness in the ball of foot and toes with tenderness between the metatarsal bones on both feet. Has anyone ever had this or currently has the same symptoms? I have been to my GP who thinks it is a foot issue. I have an appointment with an Orthopedic, but could not get an appointment until April.
