Common Questions and Answers about How long lexapro withdrawal lasts

Avatar n tn I'm up to 10 to 15 a day now and take five just to get me moving in the morning. This is no way to live. How long and how hard are the with drawals from it? I don't want to live my life around this drug anymore. Just a word of encouragment some times is what I think I need and to know that I am not alone.
Avatar n tn has anyone been off lexapro and dose not have withdrawl symptoms anymore? How long does it take?
Avatar n tn I've been taking Lexapro for at least 2 years now. In the past I had been frequently non-compliant with my meds, stopping and starting at whim. Then I became more serious (and desperate). But old habits die hard and I regularly adjust my Lexapro. I was prescribed 20mg a day but sometimes up it to 30mg daily (usually before my period).
Avatar m tn sir I had been using lexapro with my antipsychotic and lost my sexual drive due to ssri. i have discountinued lexapro . how much time will it take to regain my sexuall good feeling.
Avatar n tn First, benzo withdrawal can last forever or never occur at all. There's no basis whatsoever for your psychiatrist telling you how long it lasts, because it's different for everyone. There is something called protracted withdrawal syndrome, and it's quite common with benzos. However, since you weren't on them that long and didn't take that much, I doubt you have that. I'm only mentioning it because what psychiatrists tell you and the truth are two separate universes.
Avatar m tn I don't recommend any change in medication until consulting with your doctor. I suggest you do this right away, so that the doctor can give his professional advice.
Avatar f tn hi there, so i guess i can only describe my own personal experience coming off of subs...i took subs to stop using h and oxy's. ive been on suboxone and ONLY suboxone for about 5 months now. i was pretty surprised at how bad the suboxone withdrawal was...i was okay for the first two days and after about 48 hrs i went into pretty intense withdrawal.
Avatar f tn How good is Lexapro for anxiety? How long does it take to work? Does it cause gastrointestinal problems? It is difficult to stop when the time comes? Is valium better? Any help and comments will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Lexapro generally doesn't cause "brain damage", and while going cold turkey isn't generally the best idea (weaning off of it tends to minimize side-effects), it generally doesn't cause very adverse symptoms. Xanax is a cousin of the benzodiazepine family, which is what kind of concerns me when you say began drinking heavily concurrently with your meds. However, you were probably taking a small-enough dose to minimize any potential long term damage.
Avatar n tn You're not anyone else, so no one can tell you how long it'll last. Some get no withdrawal, some get minor ones, some get bad ones. I still encourage you to properly taper off it.
Avatar n tn , and my hands are so swollen and aching I can hardly type! Does anybody have any idea how LONG it takes to get clear of this nightmare? I'm planning to tough it out, no matter what. I just hope I don't go beserko before things calm down. Later.
Avatar n tn Who would guess that taking only 10mg paxil could cause such disruption in one's life when trying to discontinue taking it. I am trying to wean off and started a week ago going every other day, then every third day etc. The dizziness headaches flu like symptons etc have been awful. Is there any help out there to deal with this? I have been taking paxil for seven years and gained 40 lbs.
Avatar n tn nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, restlessness, and leg movements, or jerking.
Avatar m tn Anyways, it's been 34 days and still feeling like crap (insomnia, sweaty palms and pits, lack of energy, cold chills, depression, anxiety, nausea). I have heard that the duration of withdrawal can depend on how long one used the medicine. My question is, did you taper? Also, exactly how long did your withdrawal symptoms last? I feel like this is lasting forever!! I know that it will get better and I will normal again I would just like to know when?? I will fight this demon, I will keep strong.
680303 tn?1239988440 Anyway, I am off the tramadols 11 days and very depressed, can someone PLEASE tell me if this is normal and how long this lasts? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Sometimes, this doesn't ever work when someone has been on saris for a long time and sometimes this withdrawal can last a long time or forever, a condition called PAWS. You don't want this, so if you can go back on the Zoloft and successfully withdraw before starting a new drug it will be better for you. If you can't, you can't, and we can only hope the Lexapro will work for you. But all these drugs work differently from one another -- they have to or they wouldn't be able to get a patent.
Avatar n tn hey there, i know what nightmare you're going through right now, but you're done with the worst part of the phys withdrawal. how long have you been using? the anxiety is being driven by the adjustments going in on your body right now. it takes a few days to get your body balanced again, but having just finished a detox myself I found the following really really helpful. I used a combination of Xanax and Trazadone for sleep.
Avatar n tn PArt of me is glad that this happens, as I have wondered for a long time how much of my pain was real and how much of it was related to the vicodin cycle. 16 days should tell me for sure. I sit here watching the clock, constantly thinking, how can I make 16 days and wishing I just had 16 pills, so I could have half in the morning and half in the evening to get through it, nd that signals to me I have a problem.
Avatar n tn I have had bouts of flu type feelings and I feel very tired and worn out. Basically I feel like **** and I dont have the flu. My question is, How long does it take to get Zoloft out of your system? I know your never to stop taking SSRI meds abruptly but when you follow a good tapering schedule and you still deal with wwithdrawal symptoms that's enough to tick a person off. My doctor wants me to start Lexapro but he wants me to wait until Zoloft is completely washed from my system.
Avatar m tn There is a condition called PAWS that a few people get where withdrawal lasts an indefinite amount of time. But for you it's only been 2 weeks, and that's not a long time even though it seems like it is. Because this happened to me and my psychiatrist caused it by being a moron, I had to research this on my own, and there are websites devoted to all manner of withdrawal problems.
Avatar n tn Heck, since I can't sleep at night because of the paranoid dillusions, the zaps I can hear in my hears, that make my head spin, I have alot of time. This stuff is awful to come off, I don't know how long it lasts I hope not very. They should tell people about it, I almost fell over in Wal-Mart, just walking and my eyes felt like they just floated away, looking through a prism of sorts.
444932 tn?1273984397 Is this normal? Is there more I should expect? How long will this last? Why did it take two days after stopping the pills for the withdrawal (if that's what this is) to get so bad? I googled withdrawal symptoms and was linked to a site for suboxone (sp??). Has anyone tried that? Does it work? Is it worth it? I have not told my medical doctor about this b/c I don't want it in my medical records. I don't want my employer to find out. I don't want my family to find out.
Avatar n tn I hope all is well with everyone, keep it up!! P.S - how long have you been taking the hydro for?? it sounds like you could get out somewhat easy if you got out now, and remember, when you find yourself saying, I just want one more pill, it NEVER WORKS THAT WAY!! "just when I think I'm out, they suck me back in" Withdrawal symptoms: bone aches, chills, cold sweats, restless leg, depression, etc... its not fun, thats why Im telling you to stop while your not that bad.......
Avatar n tn I also can 't get comfortable in any chair. Does anyone know how long this all lasts? The headaches are pretty bad but I just assumed that I have migranes and they were choosing to kick in at the same time but I guess they are part of withdrawal too - whopee! I would appreciate any input from someone who has completely kicked this drug for a few months or years and can give me some help with the sleep problem as it is tough to maintain during the work day.
Avatar n tn I have had horrible side effects for almost 6 weeks that, in duration and intensity are like a roller coaster. Does anyone know how long this might last or if I will get better. I took the pill because I worked an overnight 12 hour shift and I had trouble sleeping in the daytime. I have never experienced these horrible symptoms before I took this pill. 8 hours after I took the Lexapro, I jumped out of bed and started running around my house like a crazy fool.
Avatar f tn has anyone else experienced delayed onset of withdrawlas like this , ? does anyone know how long it lasts this has been the worst four months of my life . My only lifeline was a website i found called the road back by james harper , i encourage anyone thinking of or trying to quit to check it out. . Just look at the sidemeffects of the medications lexapro cymbalta clonazepam effexor etc , its unbelievable and disgraceful that these are kept under wraps and not told to us .
Avatar f tn I can't function if I'm too high to move but the panic and all physical symptoms are even scarier. Dr doesn't think withdrawal lasts more than 3 days for ssris. It's been 3 weeks of symptoms for me.
Avatar f tn The bad part of the physical withdrawal usually lasts 3 to 4 days. It peaks on day 3 or 4 and then it eases off. You are almost there. Make sure you are drinking lots of water or gatorade. Get some Boost or Ensure and a good multi vitamin. Imodium is a necessity for most of us and it actually gives relief for the obvious and for the withdrawals. Scroll down to the bottom right hand side of this page and read the Thomas Recipe.
