On Feb 1 I developed a severe red scratchy throat, and I still had several mouth ulcers. I took Augmentin 500 3x/day for 10days. After the 10days I still had a sore throat that feels like an ulcer down my throat, and I also still had about 10 mouth ulcers as well as swollen gums. I went to my Internal MD and he put me on Medrol dose pack and Levaquin. This initially helped w/ the mouth ulcers but the one down my throat got much worse. I was given a Celestone inj and put on Orapred.

i just want to know if stress can cause ulcers. for how long is one supposed to be stressed to have ulcers. for the last 3 months i have been so stresed up(due to hiv exposure) to the point of taking antiacids-relcer gel and actals. i have been having this wierd feeling in the stomach, like burning which come out to the throatCancer - throat or larynx Throat swab culture all the way to the mouth leaving me with soar taste/bitter taste in the mouth.

I went to my GP and he told me they were either due to a viral or bacterial infection and would go on their own. He told me to gargle Corsodyl. I did and they haven't changed. I have also tried gargling salt water, L-lysine but nothing has helped at all.

Throat is still sore and have ulcers in a few places around my mouth. Not to worried about that, what does worry me is now my gums are killing me. I cannot even tough them with a brush. No blood as of yet from them. Is this the last of the infection retreating?

I am taking Carafate for a gastric erosion with gastritis. All of the ppi medicines failed to help. How long should it take to see an improvement in symptoms with Carafate? I've only been on it for 4 days so far. I usually have pain everyday and have been dealing with this for about a year now.

Did your doc even bother to do a strep test or anything? Strep throat can also cause ulcers in the throat and mouth and strep is definitely something that neeeds to be treated with antibiotics.

Dots at the back of the throat are much more characteristic of coxsackie than where they are in my mouth but the virus symptoms usually does not last anywhere near as long as yours has (unless you have an immunodeficiency). I would see a general physician or std specialist about this seeing as it’s gone on for so long. Hope this helps and best of luck.
