Avatar f tn talked to dr yesterday he wants me to try to up the prozac to 80 mg..i tried before and made it to 50 and had effects he said i should have noticed something from the weelbutrin by now...and i could stop it,but i told him i was hoping it would help my sex drive so he said stay on it...im so frustrated the depression and anxiety is no better been on prozac since march..
Avatar f tn Some have bad withdrawl problems. I wouldn't mix it with marijuana. I was on Prozac for a long time, and it saved my life. I don't know if this helps, but I'm sure others will be on here to advise you. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn And once you quit taking a med, it won't necessarily work the same if you try to go back on it. Prozac is thought to be one of the more benign anti-depressants to quit taking because it stays in the body a fair amount of time; most leave the body very quickly, causing the body to have to adapt more quickly than the body is able to.
Avatar f tn I do fine without the anti-depressants, ok, I lie, I do ok with them, but have learned to try to avoid being hypo which is a major trigger for me and my depression, without getting that right, and being on anti-depressants is just a time bomb waiting to go off. Psych ward! No one knows HOW anti-depressants work. They know for some people they are great but for others whose brain chemistry is a little different it can work totally the opposite.
Avatar n tn I would never advise anyone to take prozac for any long period of time. I personally feel that prozac and other antidepressants should be used short term with a definite cut off date. After some time that I cannot identify, prozac simply stopped working and caused me to decline in my mental health. I welcome any comments to my comments.
Avatar f tn ( so i went back to my docs today and told her how my anxiety is 10 times worse than it was as i got identified with GAD ( general anxiety disorder) which is id say harder to cope with than depression at the mo, so she suggest i switch from 20mg prozac to 10mg celexa which is used for depression aswell as focus's slightly more on the anxiety side of things, as i have only been on the prozac for less than a month does anybody know if it is really nessercary to taper down 1 every other day for
Avatar f tn It is the newer version of Effexor, is very strong, is a very stimulating antidepressant so isn't usually used if anxiety is the primary problem unless all other meds have failed to work, and can be very difficult to stop taking.
Avatar n tn What can happen if you stop taking it abruptly. If I feel this bad i dont want to deal with prozac again. How long do these symtoms last.I dont want to take it again.
Avatar n tn I am bi polar and I have been on my current meds for 6 years and I know that i must take them for the rest of my life but it a small thing compared to where I would be with out my meds and going to therapy. If you do decide to stop you meds discuss this with your doc and taper off slowly. Have you been to therapy as well? also get proper rest diet and exercise.Something as simple as a 30 min brisk walk will raise those seritonin levels.
Avatar n tn I agree with Rainlover that it does take time for SSRIs to start working. In that respect, it may take a few more weeks for you to notice improvements with your depression. However, negative side effects tend to appear much sooner. I would discuss your concerns about the sexual side effects with your doctor, and see what they recommend.
Avatar f tn Myself I'm trying to find out how to deal with it with out meds because all say they are addicting and I just don't need that. Talking to some one who knows what you are going thru helps. Finding things to keep your mind occupied and off the symptoms is such a big thing find something as an hobbie is helpful. Look up web sites that have help for this.
601528 tn?1224085098 Going back, yes zoloft I believe contributed to me going manic and then for me to just take myself off it was a disaster and me believing I was perfectly fine... and I had not seen my psychiatrist for ages, only went to my gp who prescribe it for me.... (wrong) Make appt asap and let them know how the med is making you feel...
1331182 tn?1275479204 5 to nothing? even if you have been tapering for so long? I expect it to take 8 monthsfor me too...maybe you could do the old trick of opening your capsules and taking half, so it's 18.75 to nothing? a smaller leap? @remar That's helpful advice remar. I've just started tapering after 8 years of taking effexor so it's early days yet, but very excited! I've got to come down from 300mg.
358304 tn?1409713092 this drug was the worst thing i ever did to myself and i would caution anyone to not take it. a safer drug, because of the long half-life, which equates to a built-in tapering system, is prozac. beware - as you withdraw from remeron, people will tell you that its your "old" symtoms reappearing - no it's not! it's the symptoms of withdrawing from this evil drug and you can get through it!
Avatar f tn This is not a mainstream drug for the most part. What it is is a very low does of the antipsychotic Zyprexa mixed with Prozac. I have felt none of the horrors I had with other medications. I feel like my impulse control, emotional swings, and depression are not just managed but improving everyday. Plus my doctor says that as low of a does of the zyprexa I am taking should not cause any of the dreaded side effects that can manifest after long term use. Good luck!
Avatar n tn )Does anyone know how long this will last? I haven't slept since Monday at 8 PM, and it's now Thursday morning, almost 5 AM. I'm not tired. I'm feeling loopie. Sleep aids are no help, I tried high blood pressure pills, no good. Any advice would help: ) The mental cravings are still there, but I've just looked the other way, the way that shows how far I have come and how hard I fought to be here now. It's helping. But...the shaking...arg!
Avatar n tn Normally what works for a closely related relative is more likely to work for you to! It at least gives you somewhere to start rather than it being a random guessing game. I hope this helped even a little bit! I'm rooting for you!!!
Avatar n tn I have read alot of good stuff about suboxone, but has anyone used this and does anyone know if it is just another drug to get addicted to. I am down to 2 10/500 of hydrocodone now. I would like advice about the effects I could experience by quitting cold turkey, or would anyone recommend this suboxone. Thank you for any advice, but please advise only if you know something about this information. Thanks so much and God bless alll.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have an experience of what it was like? OR If not Prozac, does anyone have any recommendation for meds that have worked for them that didn't leave them tired all the time. Or maybe in addition to the effexor? I know the libido maybe a lost cause, but the sleep is driving me crazy. I know everyone's different, but anyone better than my doc at this point. please help.

Avatar n tn and I take ambien at night to sleep does it interfere with either medication and does it matter if I take it at night before bed?
162948 tn?1205256292 I had it in for over a year but wanted it removed because my husband and I are planning for another baby. So I have one more question, how long could it take to conceive once it is removed? and is it safe to try the first month that it has been removed?
Avatar f tn You have a hormonal imbalance, and prozac doesn't treat that, so you'll still have one, you just won't care as much about it if it works. Now, you haven't been on it long enough for it to work, but if I were you, and I'm not, I'd look into natural methods of regulating hormonal fluctuations until you reach balance. I'd go see a naturopath or practitioner of integrated medicine who will treat what you're suffering from, not just try to make your suffering more comfortable.
Avatar f tn I think it normally takes 3 to 4 weeks to work. I think it is definitely normal for you to get anxious first. Your body needs time to adjust to the new meds. It worked great for depression for me, but not so much anxiety. However, it does help a lot of people with their anxiety and I hope it works for you.
Avatar f tn Now, I know that some do use Prozac for this successfully, though I've heard it used more for other ssris, not for snris, but the best advice I've seen is go through your taper off any drug as long as it takes for you, not some generalized schedule, and recover fully before trying another medication.
Avatar f tn I was started on Gaba 500mg 3x a day and its not working how I want it to. It makes me tired with a hint of anxiety. Not like ativan(1mg) where it eliminates my anxiety without making me too tired. I would like to take ativan for my anxiety but I don't want to mix with GABA or get addicted to it. Last night, I thought I would take the last two GABA closer together so I can get a better sleep at night but i still had panic attacks in my sleep and I couldn't wake up today.
