Common Questions and Answers about How does maxalt work

maxalt

Avatar f tn m wondering if it is side effects that get better the more you take it? And if it does...does it get better if you don't need to take it every day???
655875 tn?1295695107 My friend had called me and I told her that I was too sick to talk and that I had run out of my Maxalt. My friend is a life saver! When she got off of work, she picked up my Maxalt and brought it to me. She also brought me some hot dogs, chips and pop because I had nothing to eat in the house. Hubby left on Wednsday and took the kids up to the cabin, so I've been here alone. I thought that was extremely nice of my friend to go and do that for me.
Avatar f tn My first 2pregnacys they also gave me vicoden for when migranes were unbearable. This pregnancy my Dr told me I could also take maxalt( I was told w my first 2 that maxalt was not safe AT ALL) after doing some research I decided against maxalt but am continuing firocet.
Avatar f tn Has anyone used Remeron for depression, while taking Maxalt for their migraines? I have migraines about every other day, and take 5mg maxalt for them. I was just given Remeron for depression, as the doc said i cannot take any SSRI's because of serotonin syndrome. I cannot find and interactions for Remeron, but just wondering if anyone else has tried these together. Any info appreciated.
Avatar f tn ve had a headache that put me in bed every week, usually Sunday through Wednesday. I have taken Norontan and Amitryptiline; both had negative affects. Maxalt does me no good. Feverfew and other herbs like that were not recommended for grown women. I take nettle tea. Alieve seems to be the only drug that helps. My doctor said that atmosphere can have a lot to do with it--and advised me to relocate. Is there anything else that works which I could take?
1030950 tn?1261010513 If that is not the version of Maxalt you are taking, make sure to switch to that version... because it will work better than the regular maxalt tablets. The quick dissolve version of Maxalt is called "Maxalt-MLT", and I believe that statistically the Maxalt-MLT 10mg tablets work better than the Maxalt-MLT 5mg tablets but only your doctor could tell you which dosage is best for you.
Avatar m tn She proclaims that she diluted and injected her migraine medicine (Maxalt) because she keeps throwing it up. Her symptoms, however, where those of an opiate overdose....blue hands and face, low respiration, eyes rolling backwards, staggering, tremoring arms upon waking up, disorientation, etc. Does anyone know what the side effects would be of injecting maxalt? I find this impossible to believe that it would knock her out and turn her blue.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar f tn Hello! I am 34 years old for the past 2 years I have been getting nausea with constant headache for 6 days before my period. It's to the point where I'm on zofran and have maxalt for headache. I can't leave my house because I feel like I'm going to vomit but I don't. I guess that's a good thing, lol zofran works. Once I get my period it goes away! Anyone experience this or have any feedback thank you!!!
1817265 tn?1317302747 I also suffer from migraines & used to take Maxalt. When I was pregnant with my 1st, the dr prescribed Imitrex & I've been taking it since. I take 1/2 a pill & if it doesn't work (which it does most of the time), then I take the other half. You are supposed to take it at the onset of a migraine otherwise it gets so bad that the meds are not as effective. Talk to your dr ASAP! And congratulations on your blessing!!!
Avatar f tn I had a similar problem with Maxalt (a drug in the same class as Relpax-they are both triptans). My insurance would only cover 12 pills, and I need more. My doctor filled out the necessary paperwork for my insurance co., saying I need more than "typically alotted". The pharmacy division of your insurance co. can give you more info. If that's not possible, have you tried another triptan? Maxalt, Imitrex, and Relpax all work for my migraines. Good luck!
Avatar n tn i took 2 maxalt on saturday for a migraine, it didnt help at all, actually made it worse making me vomit for 3 days and today is friday, 6 days later and i still feel like, tired, weak, foggy, not hungry, cant really go to the bathroom even though i feel like i have to. is this gonna go away?
655875 tn?1295695107 ve been also taking percocet in place of the maxalt, but it does not work as well for the headaches. Is there something I can do to try and prevent these migraines? Are there other natural alternatives rather then medication?
Avatar f tn Doctors are practicing medicine and the truth is they have no idea how to address the issue just mask it with drugs. No matter how much blood work you have done and no matter how many test you have done they are still practicing medicine.
1125820 tn?1265284446 Did you try the regular Maxalt tablets or the Maxalt-MLTs? The Maxalt-MLTs are the orally disintegrating tablets. The Maxalt-MLTs work better than the regular Maxalt tablets. If you haven't tried Maxalt-MLTs yet, I would suggest giving those a try too. Which Zomig did you try? If you haven't tried the Zomig Nasal Spray yet, then I highly recommend Zomig Nasal Spray. The bioavailability of Zomig Nasal Spray is even better than Zomig by IV...
Avatar n tn They have been increasing in quantity and severity until about a year and a half ago I had to stop working completely. I am on a combination of darvacet, tramadol, topomax and maxalt. The combination leaves me in bed about 18 hours a day. I have had two MRIs. One with contrast and one without. Neither shows any good reason for my pain. The headache never goes away and I have no idea what makes it hit so hard every few days (room blacked out and crawling to the bathroom). Am I the only one.
Avatar m tn If you get a triptan that is in a pill form it can take a long time to work... so, that is not so good for SS. That is why you need to get a triptan in either a nasal spray or a quick dissolve tablet, such as zomig nasal spray or imitrex nasal spray or maxalt quick dissolve tablets. There is also a injection that would be fast acting too...
Avatar f tn I also get migraines. have you paid attention to any of the known migraine "triggers" like red wiine & chocolate, hard cheeses etc. You probably have but I thought I'd mention it. Like the others, I take Maxalt for mine & it always works. Maxalt is from the migraine interrupter family & also includes imetrix & Zomig. Good luck - it sounds very difficult.
1767882 tn?1331409169 Thanks Vicki. Her disability is migraines. She's sometimes down for days when she has an "episode". Nothing gets rid of it. She's tried all the migraine meds. Maxalt works best but it doesn't work all the time. Neurologists are baffled. No one has been able to help her. She's been on the Effexor for probably 10 years. She says it saved her life. As fas as doctors, she really doesn't have one.
Avatar f tn Maxalt rocks. I love it and carry it everywhere with me. www.maxalt.com Another new med www.relpax.com (I have some, just not had a headache lately to use them) because I take my magnesium :0-). Here is a good site with migraine info. http://www.achenet.org/ And you need to get your migraine "bible" I got mine off of half.com cheap. This book helped me a lot in understanding my headaches and lots of good info.
Avatar f tn I have massive migraines and use the imitrex autoninjector. It is amazing. Also the maxalt sublingual tabs work well. You may feel a little light headed or your heart might be a little racy but that's normal. I have used both of these meds wwhile on suboxone and lane pils. I have taken propanolbefore but it did nothing. Also you should be getting Botox. It was the only that big that stopped my daily headaches. If your dr won't die it find one that will.
Avatar n tn I also have hyperhidrosis and have been dealing with it for more than 20 years. I am currently taking Maxalt for the migraines. The sweating is made greater by the anxiety and as of late has been unbearable. I have been researching my options and noticed that Inderal has been indicated for all three. Is it possible to take this drug to alleviate the symptoms of all 3? If so, what is the recommended dosage for each of the three? Thank you so much for you time!
Avatar f tn They are suppose to strip my membranes how does that work? Does it hurt.
