ovarian-cysts

Avatar f tn I have had pain on my left side for the past 6 months. I have had several ovarian cysts during that time (mind you after my daughter was born i had my right ovary removed due to a large ovarian cyst 17mm). I had it removed in July 2011 thinking that it was causing the pain. I did not have a period the whole three years I had it. Here is a month later and I am still having the pain and I have a hemorrhagic cyst partially collapsed on my left ovary. I also have not had a period yet either.
Avatar n tn I'm 22 and Have suffered with PCO since i was 15. PCO is heireditary so somewhere down the line one member of your family has had it on either side but never known about it. A clue maybe did a member of your family on your side or partners not have children? or struggle to? unless you suffer pain from PCO then you may never have known your daughter suffers from it.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the community. I can only say that benign cysts can grow quite fast although they can grow quite slowly too. I don't know about the rate of growth of malignant cysts. Most cysts (even complex ones) are benign and most resolve on their own in 2 to 3 cycles. If they get too large and need to be surgically removed, it is best to have just the cyst removed (cystectomy) since the ovaries are needed our whole lives for the hormones they produce to keep us healthy.
Avatar f tn It all started out last year when I thought I had a urinary tract infection because I was having pain in my lower stomach area. I was told it was an ovarian cyst. And to help tone down the pain I would use a heating pad ..every night. I still do. And I'm on my period right now, which is why it hurts more than usual. I'm just so sick of this pain and was wondering if cysts can be cured.. can I get rid of it without having to resort to surgery? I have the pain randomly throughout the week.
Avatar f tn Have you had another ultrasound to see if the hormones shrunk the cyst? I have read that they typically don't remove ovarian cysts until they are over 7cm. The concern is if they get too large, they can cause the ovary to twist on itself (ovarian torsion) which can cause the ovary to die. However, you have the risk of losing the ovary with surgery too.
Avatar m tn You should ask to have an Ultrasound right away to get some answers. You could have Ovarian Cysts which are nothing to fool around with unless they cause no pain....trust me - they rupture and can cause way more pain and possible complications. You also sound like you might have a lot of Fibroids - maybe a lot of lttle ones. Your symptoms sound similar to mine - and that was my problem also at one time, Dozens of little Fibroids with one big one on my left Ovary.
579959 tn?1218310678 It is possible that MedHelp will move your posting to the Ovarian Cyst forum but that is a good thing as all of us there have had a lot of experience with cysts whereas not everyone with Ovarian Cancer has. We do recommend you have your surgery done by a gyn/onc not because you have cancer but because they are the best at this type of surgery and if there is any possibility (and again, not likely) of cancer it ensures that all is handled appropriately.
Avatar f tn Hi I’m 22 and have two children . I have frequent big ovarian cysts I have had cystectomys 3 times in the past 3 years. They are extremely painful and I still have no answer as to why I get them so frequent and how can I help preventing them . I have tried many different birth controls and I went even with out. I have not had a period in a long time like a year not at all .
Avatar f tn It does make sense that the doctor can get better access and thus save more of the ovarian tissue. Thanks for posting this!
1294482 tn?1354489288 I have been having cyst for the past 11 years and they are super painful, so I know how your sister feels. My last cyst got as big as 6cm and the dr didn't do anything. Thankfully it's shranking and the last US I had it was at 3.6, not really sure what type of cyst your sister has, but my dr told me to hang on and hopefully it goes away on it's own. Mine usually repture on their own, but this one was different. It just keep on getting bigger and bigger.
596192 tn?1225446998 s a link from another site that should make you feel a lot better. There are several types of ovarian cysts and some of them can grow very large. Your gp needs to just refer you to a gyn to make the correct dx about the type of cyst you have and then to give you the recommendations regarding your treatment plan. 95% of ovarian cyst are benign as ally states in the post above. Have you had a TV/US and a Cat Scan done?
Avatar f tn The uterus and ovary will require at least a laparoscopy (a couple of small incisions in the abdomen so the doctor can look around inside). Do you know how large the cysts are in her uterus and ovary? Most doctors will want to remove ovarian cysts after they grow over 5 cm (about 2 inches) in size because if they burst it will hurt like crazy or the weight of one can cause the fallopian tube to twist. They can't make any big decisions until they check it out more thoroughly.
Avatar m tn my duaghter have big ovarian cyst 17*16*11 cm.what surgery will be done and is any danger to his ovary and later can she pregnant.she is only 11 years old.
893889 tn?1294276977 you can get pregnant with cyst. im 23 and i tried my best not to get pregnant in the past. now that im ready it seem s almost impossible to concieve. my mom always told me never come between life and its courses. just use condoms if anything. because once u try to concieve and supposing it dont happen right away u will be very hurt. and begin to blame urself. so take it easy and condoms as are useful as pills.
Avatar m tn As the other poster said, larger ovarian cysts can cause urinary urgency. So can large uterine fibroids. Most cysts go away on their own within 2 or 3 cycles so I would not worry much unless your symptoms worsen especially if you start having pain which could be a sign of the cyst rupturing, leaking, or twisting the ovary. Since most cysts resolve on there own, there should not be any impact on fertility.
Avatar f tn One of the most effective treatments for ovarian cysts is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling. Other modes of treatment are laparoscopic surgery, laparotomy or surgery for complicated ovarian cysts. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn It is very confusing how our hormones can affect so many things. PCOS is quite complicated how it affects many things. The cysts alone are not to blame. You are likely fighting insulin resistance that is contributing to the weight gain. It can make losing weight extremely difficult. In addition to your hormones, you may want to try a high protein, low carb diet. This can help keep reduce the insulin resistance.
Avatar f tn I have had problems with Ovarian cysts since highschool. mine get really big and instead of going down they keep growing and rupture. it is the worst pain i have ever been though. make sure that it doesnt happen to you by talking to your doctor and get them checked out. so i have been on the pills to stop this from happening since sophmore year of highschool. i am 19 now and i just found out last week that i am pregnant. i am off the pills but i am afraid of cysts.
Avatar f tn So they can believe this 'string of cysts' is one big cysts with seperations? But what about the other way around? Can they think that this 'string of pearls' is just PCOS, while it actually is cancer and NOT PCOS?? or is it easy to tell the difference?
Avatar f tn Yes, hard to say how long it will take. How big are the cysts?
1614183 tn?1305045700 I agree with Sania19 But @ the same time I have a ovarian cysts aswell and when I have sex the semen comes out to but unlike u I have no kids but after my surgery and I heal I will b working on some ....
Avatar f tn If you have cysts on both ovaries than you have even less of a chance. Most times they can see ovarian cancer on an ultrasound. By the time you have symptoms it is progressed enough to see on an ultrasound. Over 98% of ovarian cysts are benign even big ones. My symptoms were anorexia, First bleeding almost every day for two year then no period at all. Then when I stopped having my period I threw up all the time.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can cause ovarian enlargement and the majority of ovarian cysts are benign. Did you have a scan to determine if you have visible cysts? Most cysts go away on their own. If this persists for you, you may want to talk to you doctor about the possibility of your having an underlying condition like PCOS or endometriosis. But, even with these conditions, the majority of women are still able to conceive.
