Avatar n tn I had a roommate who used one of these in bad weather, and Gym is right, it's much easier to maintain and use than exercise equipment. I like the home exercise equipment, but as i said, it always turns out to need a lot of maintenance even when new.

582396 tn?1259867089 Many of his other muscles are atrophied from his lack of movement and causing secondary pain/discomfort and fatigue. We plan to buy Nate some workout equipment to use at home. Goal isn't to get huge, just to get his muscles reconditioned. He also will meet with sleep specialists who have some new devices to help him sleep better. (Not like the huge equipment/masks they used to use for sleep apnea patients.
700223 tn?1318169294 Protective eyewear and mouth guards ale equally important to prevent injuries. In addition, make sure your equipment is correct for your sport. Running shoes are great for marathons, but don’t offer enough support for basketball, soccer or tennis. Needless to say, all equipment must be well fitting and in good condition. It is particularly important to check children’s’ equipment before the start of each season since their sizes can change so rapidly.
Avatar n tn I'm pretty sure it is the same reason I had the same problem. And it isn't from going to a gym as I have all my work out equipment at home. I read a great article on this very thing in one of my many health magazines. It said if you OVER exercise you can get flu like symptoms. And I always noticed it worse after hard work outs.So I learned how to pace myself and now I only lift 2 x a week and never 2 days in a row. You have to give your body time to re coup.
Avatar f tn I dont go to an actual gym, i have some equipment here at home, but when i used to go i saw lots of pregnant ladies there, they cant deny you a membership, because when you sign the contract you are doing it at your own risk and saying that you have consulted with your doctor about starting to exercise, have fun working out, it will help you sleep =D
Avatar n tn But you have to make up your mind to do it!! Pax. Used to play pickup sports and I used to pick up girls! lol. If you can Find someone to workout with it will help. I exercise every day and after a 1 1/2 - 2 hour workout I'm exhausted but feel good. Now make up your mind and do it and see how you will start feeling and looking better. Before doing anything get the OK from your Dr.
Avatar n tn You really should try and switch up your workouts/increase the time you workout because your body can be used the workouts and it could become ineffective. Make sure you drink a lot of water 48oz or a day, also make sure you do toning exercises (crunches, squats, leg lifts ect) because I didnt at first and now im left with some loose skin that is very hard to tone! Hope this helps and good luck! Ps: DO NOT ... I REPEAT DO NOT starve yourself.
Avatar f tn I would prefer not to join a gym due to time constraints getting there during the work week. What equipment for home use would you recommend for someone with balance issues and leg/hand stiffness as their main issues? 1) Treadmill 2) Stationary Bike Thanks! My main issues are poor balance and leg stiffness.
973741 tn?1342346373 I do a lot of exercise classes and they are mostly interval types of classes but think I can do this at home, right? If you have any ideas of where to find a peak 8 work out for a mom like me, that would be great. I will work out some of my own and do more research but since you recommended it, was wondering if you had thoughts on best things to do--- things like jump squats for an interval, etc. ??
Avatar f tn now i put my gym shoes on and still walk the 30 min but walk twice as far. then i come home and either do a work out with the gym equipment or wait for DH to get home and do a work out wit him if its chest day because we spot each other on the bench press. I have a wii with wii sport but only used it a few times with the kids. we have been looking at active and planed on getting it sometimes soon but now i really want it.
172023 tn?1334675884 The elliptical is a good calorie burner, but I didn't feel it was getting me as fit as exercising with my whole body. I mostly workout at home, and have a whole room devoted to it. It is slowly growing. Started with an elliptical, now a large floor mat, sets of weights, balance ball, and next I want to get a medicine ball. My DVD collection is growing too, I really like ones that you can "customize" and mix up routines.
579258 tn?1250652943 I love to work out. Used to be the first thing I did when I got home from work. And to tell you the truth, about 50% is stress relief, and 50% is for health. Some days 100% stress relief. Feels good to jog off the stress. But lately, I don't know. Was sick several years back and it threw my routine off. I have struggled ever since. Weather here in Chicago isn't the most cooperative either. I love being outside. Trying to get back in the groove. Miss having nice arms.
572651 tn?1531002957 So at the YMCA I've been doing the elliptical trainer. It gives me the most workout while keeping me from having to move my feet. I used to run, but now even running on the treadmill is dangerous - I keep dragging my feet, and tripping. I just can't get into the stationary bike. It would be safer for me, but the workout just isn't enough. I also lift weights. I stay away from the leg lifts, and stick with the back, arms, shoulders, and waist.
Avatar m tn In fact, according to a recent report by Mother Jones, the only antibiotic remaining in use at Perdue is narasin, an antibiotic not used in human medicine, and only about one-third of its chickens ever get it. (It's used to treat a parasitic intestinal condition called coccidiosis.) Any other antibiotics are administered to sick birds only (about 4 percent of all birds). According to Mother Jones: "Perdue ...
Avatar f tn I used to run hard ended up having both knees replaced doctor contributed it to the running. I have a pin in my hip and had a none malignant brain tumor removed. I had a complete home gym gave everything to my son and daughter. I joined a gym and do everything except run as for cardio I go from one routine to another without resting and I do the bike routine as follows first 90 sec. I get my RPM up to about 75rpm then the next 30sec. I get my heart rate up to the max. then 90sec.
Avatar n tn -) I have used the battery toothbrush at home to clean my teeth and it actually cleans better than brushing with a regular tooth brush. The battery toothbrush didn't effect my pacemaker/defibrilator - but it wouldn't hurt to ask the manufacturer of your device. I think its very important to keep your teeth in good shape. I also recommend brushing your tongue. SO much bacteria is in this area and people don't think to brush that as well. My hygenist is very nice and I go every 6 mos..
1456938 tn?1314577036 I just recently moved to Sweden and I now have an in house Gym with the following equipment. Avatar m tn One of the website I mentioned earlier even asks what exercise equipment you have available. I don't understand about not doing anything because you look like a dork. Who's going to see you? And who cares what you look like - you are trying to do something to make yourself healthier and in the long run, happier and more comfortable with yourself.
649848 tn?1534637300 I actually ended up bringing over 1/2 of my entree' home, but didn't eat it - will clean out the fridge today!! I am still dragging my feet on committing to an exercise program; but I know I have to get started. That's something that can be put off way too easily. I have the equipment - treadmill, Wii Fit, exercise dvd's, etc --- just have to get motivated to use them!! Okay - that's my story and I'm stickin' to it........... how about you?
649848 tn?1534637300 As the muscles get used to being used, weights or resistance bands can be added. Weights can be something as simple as a can of veggies or a bottle of water. A resistance band can be a towel. In addition, as we all know, walking is very beneficial, even if it's only a few laps around the dining room or the back yard to start with. The thing is to move, breathe right and concentrate on your balance, gradually adding more moves as the muscles stretch and get stronger.
Avatar n tn I attributed that to different guys equipment or sexual positions that just didn't work for me. I broke up with so many guys because I thought we just didn't fit together...it wasn't perfect. My other symptom was an irregular period. My period would come around the same time for a few months and then I would skip one here or there.
Avatar f tn My HMO hospital lab has their equipment checked every 30 days. If your doctor is using in-office equipment you might ask when it's checked. If he/she is sending it to an outside lab for analysis the possibility of error exist [heat, too long of b4 testing, etc]. Better yet, did you know Walgreens sells Bayer home A1c test kits? Suggest you keep up with your lifestyle and test yourself in 3 months.
649848 tn?1534637300 I wish eating was easier but its not im a super picky eater and i hate vegetables all of them!! so without me being at my home with the low cal foods i picked out its gonna be pretty tough!! I usually drink v8 fusion and take vitamins to keep me going!
Avatar n tn All this seems unrelated to how hard I am rowing, as I keep a fast and very even stroke rate throughout, giving myself a reasonably hard but not excessive workout. My expectation would be a rate that is related to the degree that I am working out, but I am actually seeing some quite erratic fluctuations. It doesn't cause me any discomfort, it just looks strange on the chart. Is this something that I should be concerned about?
Avatar n tn I also have a computer at home which I get on right after I get home from work. When I walk into a lit room or outside or have a page that's white, like facebook, my eyes hurt. When I bend down or get down on the ground then get up, I get dizzy and from mid chest up to head starts getting all tight, like my veins or arteries are constricting or struggling to pump blood or my body just used my entire stash of adrenaline. This also happens after eatting. Its hard to explain.
Avatar n tn both times it was on a day off where I had slept in late, ate breakfast and had coffee, waited for a while (couple hours) and then started the workout. So I was relaxed and not tense. I was used to doing workouts after work in the evening and I usually drink coffee only early in the morning.
Avatar m tn If done properly, you may feel invigorated, comparable to the heightened awareness you feel after a good workout. You should feel the effort at the back of the neck, the diaphragm, the chest and the abdomen. Try this breathing exercise the next time you need an energy boost and feel yourself reaching for a cup of coffee. Exercise 2: The 4-7-8 (or Relaxing Breath) Exercise This exercise is utterly simple, takes almost no time, requires no equipment and can be done anywhere.
Avatar n tn Now I have broccoli, cucumbers, carrots, you name it. When the flavors are mixed together and you get used to it gradually they are not too bad! Then I started having them at home too. Sometimes before a meal and sometimes I just cut up grilled chicken in there and that is my meal. I do raw veggies sometimes, and my mother still cannot believe I now eat such things as squash and broccoli! I just tried one new thing at a time until I was used to it.
