1467678 tn?1370941532 Hi All, when you went for your first trimester blood screen, were you told that you had high thyroid levels and that you need to be medicated for this? im currently 20 weeks and at my midwife appointment last week she picked this up and wanted to know if my doctor is aware and if he is medicating me due to it. I have done some dr Google that says that you dont put on weight, and bubs can be a premmy if not controlled.
Avatar n tn Oh ok... it's do many reasons to be high risk... hope all works out and u deliver a healthy beautiful baby...
Avatar m tn My thyroid perox count was 821 and my TSH 2.29 and FT4 .79 ; my doctor wants to start me on thyroid medication and I am wondering if this will cause more problems to my thyroid? I know that 821 is pretty high for TPO but my TSH is in normal range and I just don't want to do more damage to my thyroid by starting unnecessary medication.
15522385 tn?1441143430 Hello there, just reaching out to see if anyone else has had any issue or insight on high Prolactin levels? I was missing my period for several months and a recent blood test at the Dr showed elevated Prolactin. I have never been PG and am not breastfeeding any babies, so this is unusual. I realize that I need to seek medical advice from a Dr to diagnose the underlying cause. I am waiting for a referral to an endocrinologist to do just that. My question is this...
Avatar n tn s physical activities (play, dance, sports) to lose weight, and not lower calorie intake due to the need of calories for growth. For his age he needs approximately 1800-2000 calories a day to grow. Limit time in front of the TV or non-active-video games. There have been studies showing the longer the length of time a child sit in front of the TV, the greater the weight gain. Limit high sugar drinks/snacks, and try replacing with low fat milk/yogurt, fruit, air popped popcorn, or low-fat cheese.
Avatar n tn Hi, you will need to be testing about every 6 weeks for a while until her dose is perfect. It may need to go up or down. Also because she is grwoing the dose will need to be increased as she gets bigger and heavier. And also because hashimotos can be progressive (ie. her own thyroid will become less and less able to produce thyroid hormones). Make sure the doctor tests ft3 and Ft4 as well as tsh (NOT T3, T4 which are not the active hormones).
Avatar n tn My son (3.5) was tested for thyroid disorder and had a TSH score of 12 with T4 score in the normal range. At the time, the only symptom of any thyroid issues was that he was falling off of the growth chart his doctor has. My son is asian and adopted, so it is difficult for me to know if this was a real problem or not.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies..do any of you have thyroid disease and take medicine while pregnant? I didnt have any thyroid problems until my last pregnancy which i miscarried.. i have to take my medicine though and im worried that my baby is going to have hyperthyroid disease from my medicine. Im already high risk. I was deaf until age 4 , same age i started having seizures up until i was 13. (I was also told i wouldnt have kids/ride a bike/drive ect but ive done it all :) !!
Avatar f tn Hi, you have had some good advice so I figured I might ask you some ?'s I had my thyroid ablated in 06' and I am on 3 grains of Armour Thyroid. I have only seen an endo once, due to my lack of ins. I am Indian and have the Indian clinic in Tulsa that can outsource me, but none of the Dr's know about hypothyroidism. I have felt like a heated, crazed, fat, sweaty, bit$h#y, nervous person and has recently gotten off Zoloft and Valium in an attempt to decrease my symptoms.
Avatar n tn i have constant hunger pangs, why ? it has been happening for 5wks now and it is so annoying i eat and its as if i have not at all.
Avatar f tn This year no matter what I do I cannot get my thyroid to levelize. I will have to get my levels from the Dr. been dealing with this for so long I guess I don't pay close attention to the levels just do what they tell me too. Just recently started feeling like something else needs to be done life is spiraling out of control fast not to mention my husband is deploying monday so I know Im already stressed but this is stressing me out worse sometimes!
Avatar f tn now it was fluctuating from high to low. now im told its high but he didnt put me on meds.....but said check in 4 to 6 weeks but id be three months and a week then.
Avatar f tn When your doctor says he'll "burn" your thyroid, what he means is that he'd recommend RAI (radioactive iodine). You are given a dose of radioactive iodine, and over the course of several months, your thyroid gland is destroyed by the radiation. Once it is destroyed, you will be hypOthyroid and will have to be on replacement hormones for the rest of your life. RAI is seldom, if ever, done on pregnant women.
Avatar n tn yes, i am hypothyroid. I was hyper then swallowed the radioactive pill and within 3 months I was hypo. I was taking 125 mcg and that is what I've been put back on for the last 5 days. All it shows for my T4 is 0.2 and T3 at 25. The doctor at the clinic said nothing about the T4 and T3, but she really didn't know much about thyroid issues but knew my TSH was very high and needed to start back on my meds right away.
Avatar n tn Anyway, now I have a high TSH (6.45) and a high T4. They are doing further studies. I have been very cold all summer and warm up when I sit in the direct sun. I am tiried, fatigue easily and don't sleep well at night. My Hg has dropped into the 9.2-9.9 level. I am also on calcium supplements and calcitriol for hypoparathyroidism. My calcium has been stable, low normal, for many years. Now, it is out of control, very high which required hospitalization. My creatine increased to 3.
Avatar f tn Those look like thyroid function tests. Your TSH value is really high (optimal TSH for getting pregnant is ~1), so I'd suggest seeing a reproductive endocrinologist. You also need to have your day 3 FSH tested and your spouse needs to have his sperm count checked. Good luck!
Avatar n tn You need to get tested for FREE T3 and FREE T4. You should also get tested for thyroid antibodies to see if you have an autoimmune thyroid disease, as well as have an ultra sound to determine if you have nodules on your thyroid. There are no homeopathic medications that will control thyroid disease; you need to see a doctor and get started on thyroid replacement medications, if your Free T3 and Free T4 are too low.
Avatar n tn She was born without a thyroid. Now they want to test her for growth hormone deficiency because she is growing very slow and tested low on an igf1 test. She is on track in every other way but is just very small and hadnt grown at all between her 9 and 12 month check up.
1049076 tn?1256009417 I suspect thyroid as well. If you live in the US, here's a site with recommended thyroid doctors state-by-state: http://www.thyroid-info.com/topdrs/ I do not know if TSH and FT4 levels are different in children, but I DO know that I have Hashimoto's (hypothyroid) disease and his levels are worse than mine. My TSH was only 2.74 and my FT4 dropped to 0.8. I DEMANDED the antibody tests for Hashimoto's (TGAb and Anti-TPO).
Avatar f tn Pregnancy may, therefore, unmask a reduced thyroidal reserve when the demands for thyroid hormones is increased.[5] In thyroid autoAb-positive women, serum TSH levels increased progressively as gestation progressed, with 19% of them experiencing an increased serum TSH at delivery. Serum TSH levels also increased in the control group but to a much lesser extent.[48,56] The different explanations provided above are not in contradiction with one another.
787406 tn?1339203183 Have you undergone any surgery for the thyroid? What were the thyroid hormone levels before you were started on the supplements?
Avatar f tn Hard to tell if fatigue and mood is due to having premie twins or thyroid. But now with five kids and things calming down I have to get this in check ASAP. The TSH went up so high because my doctor move, busy with kids, etc, etc, and I didn't get meds for last 9 months. I actually wasn't feeling too bad and I really didn't realize how serious the effects of Hypo could become so quickly.
Avatar n tn Hypothyroidism can be responsible for high cholestrol , not the opposite, You should go first to a Endo and check for TSH (again), free T4, free T3 and for thyroid antibodies (TPO and anti-Tg), your TSH is high, do you have other symptoms? Perhaps the ENDO will give you levothyroxin to lower your TSH. First you should treat what is causing your high cholesterol...
