Avatar f tn Went to new doctor and they showed me my thyroid with ultrasound and compared to her normal thyroid. My thyroid is covering my whole neck and hers was very small. She told me the swelling in my glands is from my body trying to dissolve the abnormal tissue my thyroid has become. I have chosen to have it removed to try to get my lymph system back to normal and see if it will help my parathyroid glands as thy are being squeezed.
Avatar f tn because of this i was refered to an endo who refused to test me for t3( in the uk they dont believe in it) he said my dose was too high and i should reduce it to bring my t4 down and the cancer found was not worth worrying about. what i would like to know is, is my t4 too high and does this show i am not converting t4 to t3 is there anything i can take without a prescription to help conversion or is it true that i have to live always feeling like this.
Avatar f tn My T4 was orginally way too low but bc I had been taken a higher dosage of levo it shot thru the roof and my level was too high. Im not sure of the number. I felt fine on the high dosage but the doc said it was dangerous. Now I feel like I'm back to square one with All the symptoms a low thyroid brings. No energy, fuzzy head, weight gain, etc. The swelling in my face and neck is uncomfortable and hard to sleep. The "liquid" moves but I'm not sure where to.
Avatar n tn The antibodies have damaged your thyroid and will continue to do so. The question is, will the damage occur faster than the doctors can keep up with it medication-wise. If your TPOab was 80, and you didn't have other antibodies in high numbers, you would be one of the lucky ones that experience a slow decline of the gland that takes decades and is controlled with medication fairly easily.
Avatar n tn t understand if it is showing I am in the middle of the range why are you saying I am too low in b12 and is the renal doctor saying she is correct about decreasing the dose .I sent an e-mail to my doctor what she thought about the renal doctors result and she hasn't answered me yet. right now I am on 15 days of 100mcg.
Avatar n tn My doctor recently started me on 40 mg of prozac a little over 2 weeks ago. I have taken numerous depression drugs in the past where my doc has started me on a very low dosage and worked me up to higher dosages but on prozac we went straight to 40 mg. I have been having headaches, nausua and dizziness. I thought these symptoms would fade away but I have had no luck. I'm beginning to wonder if this dosage is too high. I don't know anything about prozac....
Avatar f tn Hi I had thyroidectomy for cancer 2 yrs ago and your right doctors love to blame weight increase on something your doing and not the fact your missing your thyroid. I'm the opposite of you my TSH is super low along with low FT3 and FT4 and my Endo wants to keep reducing my meds to the point Im going to be on no meds. I would say your TSH is too high and causing you issues.
Avatar n tn Apparently certain types of soy can affect people with thyroid problems. What does it do to you? I would assume it affects hyper and hypo differently? I am having a very difficult time being diagnosed by my Dr. She really doesnt want to look at my TSH of 4.12 as it is in normal range...so if I started consuming soy products what would it do to my numbers? would it make a difference in my testing?? Would soy affect people with a normal thyroid?
739655 tn?1456306393 The biggest thing I can see is that your doctor is ordering outdated tests, so you really have no idea what's going on. Instead of T3, T3 Uptake, T4 and ThyIndex, which are all obsolete, your doctor should be ordering FREE T3 and FREE T4, which are the actual thyroid hormones and correlate best with symptoms... Free T3 and Free T4 are not the same tests as T3 and T4 and don't give the same information.
Avatar m tn This seems like a very high dosage but I am not too sure. Also, what happens after 3 days as he has only perscribed me 15 capsules? Thank you.
Avatar m tn t have every symptom in the book, I noticed you mixed up your medications a little, Cytomel is T3 and Synthroid is T4, Has your MD done the Free T3 and Free T4 thyroid hormone tests? If not, I don't have to much respect for your MD, Without thyroid production, he should be checking your levels with these tests every six weeks not every three months, there was no reason at all to allow your levels to drop low enough to have a TSH that high.
Avatar n tn What is the relation between hypoglycemia, the thyroid, and diabetes? i have been more and more experiencing shaky spells and feeling faint... then i will eat a ...piece of fruit, or something, and a warm calming sensation comes over my body and i feel find. my family history indicatets thyroid problems, but my last t test came back normal, do people with hypoglycemea get diabetes later in life?
Avatar n tn I don’t know what is the cause of weight loss. 3 month before im detected with hypothyroidism f T3 3.54 (2.0 to 4.4 pg/ml) fT4 0.956 (0.7 to 1.8 ng/dl) TSH 73.32 (0.4 to 4.2 ulU/ml) ATPO 54.75 (normal < 34lU/ml). now TSH 8.7 fT4 1.61 after taking thyronorm 50mg. now 62.5 mg is taking for past 1 month. Lost 3.5 kg. I use to be 72kg now 68.5kg. My age is 25.
Avatar n tn The answer will be the need to supplement with Thyroid hormone. This is usually done with a synthetic T4 medication. Again the dose is usually started out low and worked up very slowly. T4 is a "storage" hormone and it takes up to 6 weeks to stabilize in the bloodstream. So the process is usually to start a dosage and take it for 6 weeks and get new blood test. Then adjust as necessary to feel well. What symptoms is your friend having?
Avatar n tn I think what karenscar means is that she is HYPOthyroid. However, she is having HYPER symptoms as a result of being overmedicated. When you are overmedicated, it's the same as being hyper. It just means you have to lower your levo dose a bit to get everything back on an even keel.
Avatar n tn I was told by a very good thyroid doctor that patients absorb and react to thyroid meds differently and that dosage was irrelevant. The dosage needs to be adequate to raise Free T3 and Free T4 levels high enough to relieve hypo symptoms and not so high as to create hyper symptoms.
Avatar m tn t had her thyroid levels checked since the baby was born and is still taking the 75 MCG of Synthroid. Is it possible that she is taking too high a dose?
327369 tn?1326119908 Your TSH is too high, and your FT4 is too low...... this indicates hypo and I'm guessing your issues are not caused by the med - Tirosint is as hypoallergenic as you can get, because there are no fillers/binders to worry about, and the active ingredient (levo/T4) is identical to what your body would produce if it could. You can't keep stopping and starting the meds - you can cut back or you can increase, but you're playing with your dosage too much...
Avatar n tn After the complete removal of thyroid gland and radio ion ablation I am taking 100mcg of thyroxine tablets but my weight is increasing abnormaly high ,what will be the right dosage ?Is their an empirical formula?
Avatar f tn Could this be from my medication dosage being too high and my levels going down? I sent my dr an email message and I am waiting for a reply. I really don't feel well and I don't know if it is something that I should go to the ER for OR if it's something related to the medication. Any input would be much appreciated! Please and thank you!!!!!
