heartburn

Avatar f tn Any way ENT said I have acid reflux sending me for a barrium swallow follow up with a gastro dr. With this I have chest pain and middle back pain. Foods really donot bother me I watch what I eat.
Avatar n tn My reg family doc wanted me to go to see the gastro doctor to have an endo done back like 3 or 4 months ago when he had to switch me from protonix (which is my 2nd or 3rd med to try for acid reflux) to Nexium , the strongest dose 40 mgs I think. Well at the time I didn't have time to go see the gastro doc. But I had to go see a ENT because of an ear infection and he said my throat looked really irriated and I had better get my acid reflux checked out.
1296528 tn?1272524830 At first I thought the two were not related but after being on gabapentin for over six months I have come to believe otherwise. I have not gotten one single case of heartburn since I started the gabapentin. I used to be on 2 prilosec a day and am now down to one. That last one is more a psychological thing I think but I plan on eventually getting rid of that last prilosec at some point.
Avatar n tn Burping is most often caused by swallowed air and commonest cause is gastro esophageal reflux disease. Burping which occurs with other symptoms like pain, heartburn, nausea, a decreased appetite, or weight loss may be associated with a serious cause. Take light food. Avoid fried spicy food. A clinical examination is must for correct diagnosis and management. I hope it helps. Best wishes and kind regards!
Avatar m tn GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease), where the acid contents of the stomach came up into the esophagus. A hiatal hernia occurs when part of your stomach pushes upward through your diaphragm. This can also cause burning and pressure sensation in the chest. Another cause for your symptoms could be peptic ulcer disease. So, it best to consult your doctor to know the cause, then treatment can be planned accordingly. Tests like barium swallow and endoscopy may help detect the cause.
Avatar n tn He took Prilosec OTC once a day prior to his heart attack for heartburn/reflux. Since his heart attack and stent, his heartburn/reflux has become much more frequent and severe. His doctor prescribed Protonix 40 mg once a day, but he still has to take antacids throughout the day to try to control it. Has anyone else experienced this and how did you resolve it?
Avatar n tn The throat specialist said my problems were due to reflux. I have no symptoms of reflux or heartburn. He said that didn't matter, it was still caused by reflux. ( I have been on Nexium, and Asteline spray for the throat. Very little help) The doctor did refer me to an ENT to have my stomach looked at. Is it possible for a hiatial hernia to cause problems with my throat and voice.
Avatar f tn I have had symptoms for about 3-4 months of feeling like something is stuck in my throat (like swallowing a pill and it gets stuck) and pressure in my chest that causes some difficulty breathing. I've had a full cardiac work up and cardiologist says my heart is strong & healthy, so now I'm wondering if this is a problem related to my reflux or possibly thyroid?
Avatar n tn It is medication used to treat the likes of acid in the stomach. Shall we call it a Gastro med. If you had ulcers or any other sort of stomach issues it may be given to you to help with the problems.
Avatar m tn The other causes for long term cough besides asthma are GERD and post nasal drip from allergies. GERD is gastro esophageal reflux disease where the stomach acids come back into the esophagus and spill into the wind pipe causing cough. It can also cause hoarseness of voice. Treatment with antacids will help neutralize the acids. Post nasal drips can occur with sinusitis and throat infections. Giving up cigarettes will abolish smoker's cough in 90% of people.
Avatar m tn m a 28 year old male and have been having some problems with chest pain, heartburn, and what feels like esophagus spasms. I have had heartburn and the pain was in my back too for 2 days straight one time and it bothered me so bad that I went to the hospital. The doctor told me it was acid reflux disease, I had a GI cocktail and I felt better. I had also mentioned to them that I had what felt like spasms in the middle of my chest, I had told him it was a really strange feeling when it happens.
1282678 tn?1275186261 A lot of your symptoms are associated with acid reflux disease, except for the muscle weakness. It sounds like your digestive system is out of whack. Try these 3 things and see how you feel: Take a full spectrum digestive enzyme with each meal everyday. Drink a small glass of aloe vera juice before bed each night to neutralize acid. Aloe is a powerful healer of the entire digestive tract and will help with constipation.
4173379 tn?1355356551 I have read some places that a gastro is not the person to see regarding liver disease or making diagnoses or even treating Hep C. Yet I also find information on what a gastro practices, treats, evaluates or diagnoses. I am confused...my husband sees a gastro/internist specialist for his liver diseases. The nearest hepatologist is 30 hours away. Quote: Gastroenterology is a branch of medicine concerned with digestive diseases.
1180004 tn?1264466754 sorry not a pic attack of gasro reflux but a panic attack OR gastro-relux. Neither one is serious and easily/cheaply solved!
Avatar f tn I had heartburn and gastric reflux, especially at night. I was always belching (and passing gas). I took some calcium carbonate chewable tabs for the heartburn but not too close to the Incivek. I also had some anal/rectal issues. I think those are all normal for those of us on Incivek. I was also very fatigued but I felt much better once I was off Incivek. Your symptoms seem more severe, though. I think you should call your doctor about the rectal bleeding.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering with bad reflux for over 3 years now. I have had alot of different blood tests and a colonoscopy. They cant seem to find the cause of this reflux and this abdominal pain. Recently i thought maybe lactose-intolerance(unlikeley i think) or gluten intolerance/celiac desease(more likely). I brought this up[ and my gastro doc said he did a celiac test and eliminated that early on.
Avatar f tn Sometimes there is heartburn. Last time I had a upper GI by a Gastro I was told I have hiatial hernia and my stomach was real raw on the inside. But I have always had problems with my stomach I'm allergic to milk raised on goats milk. I've been to different doctors I tell them of my problem and they only gave me for Heartburn but that does not help all my symptoms.
Avatar n tn supressors which supress it but oftentimes come with breakthrough acid reflux. Are you taking it once or twice or three times a day? I ask bcz sometimes they let you take the dosing in different am'ts at diff times of the day which is not conventional but I have seen it done and it works oftentimes with the infants. I can sympathize with your pain bcz I, too, have problems with fruit juice, wine, coffee, etc. but not because of acid reflux but because of kidney stones ...
Avatar f tn For the last month I have this feeling of a lump in my throat which feels like something is stuck. No heartburn but feeling of pain in ribs. My ENT wants me to see a gastro dr. but feels that my thryroid has nothing to do with my throat feeling the way it does. He said I have acid reflux. He said I worry to much, can you believe that. Well any way schedules an appt with a gastro dr. My question is does anyone else have this problem with fullness in throat and thryroid problems.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms of heartburn, abdominal pain, chest discomfort could all be attributed to GERD, (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease), where the acid contents of the stomach come up into the esophagus. For this you could try lifestyle measures. Take frequent small meals. Eat dinner about two hours before sleeping. Elevate the head end of the bed. Keep a food diary and note down what aggravates your symptoms and avoid them. Ensure to maintain optimum weight by regular exercise.
