heartburn

Avatar f tn In 2004 I had a Nissen done which resolved my heartburn issue and I no longer had to take any heartburn meds. I did however have a lot of trouble with stomach pain and bloating with every meal I ate. Over a period of 6 months I lost over 45 lbs. In 2005 I had the Nissen stretched and was finally able to get some relief and life was good. I also suffer from migraine headaches and with migraines comes the gut wrenching dry heaves.
Avatar f tn It could i guess be throat cancer But it could also be the heartburn from acid reflux due to the hernia..I go to doc tommorrow. But I cant stop obsessing..and to make matters worse--I dont have insurance..cant afford it because my husband makes too much money---yep;;the good old government wants me to pay 800./month...Im goin to dr for 80. dollars--endo may cost up to 10,000. but so would my deductables..so whatever. But this is causing more anxiety..I keep thinking its cancer..
Avatar f tn I am wondering if anyone can tell me if you always get heartburn with a hiatus hernia? I always have this feeling of fullness even if I haven't eaten, it gets worse after I have eaten. My stomach always feels tight, like it is ready to explode. Does anyone else experience this and if so, could this be a Hernia or something else?

Avatar m tn Hiatal Hernia, heartburn, and GERD? I'm 44, 5 ft 10 and 177 lbs.
537497 tn?1292553056 I have a hiatal hernia and you dont have to have heartburn to have it. I do not have heartburn at all. I had a lump in my throat after i ate and then i had an EGD and it showed a very small one. They are harmless, so dont worry if you did have one. My whole family has them. My upper stomach hurt and my dad has one and his back hurts him. So, dont panic, its ok! :-) Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn One cause of heartburn is celiac disease. This and lethargy were the ONLY symptoms my coworker was having. She's about 50 I guess. Her doctor checked her labs and she was positive for celiac disease. She had low levels of vitamin D and some other vitamins and minerals. No heartburn medicines were helping. Upper and lower endoscopy were done, and upper endoscopy showed the damage from the celiac disease. She went gluten-free.
Avatar m tn I have recently been diagnosed with a 3cm hiatal hernia, i am on Omeprazole 20mg a day which helps with heartburn but i still have chronic belching. For about 6 months now i have been getting a tightening/crushing type pain in my chest at rest. It can last anywhere from 2-10 minutes. It often wakes me up in the middle of the night, i don't have any heartburn or burning sensations with this pain. I am wondering if a hiatal hernia could cause this or if it could be something more serious?
Avatar m tn My opinion is that wearing a belt around your chest helps with one of the most common types of hiatal hernia, called sliding hiatal hernia, which has a main feature of the hernia sliding in and out of the lower chest. In such a case(sliding hiatal hernia) the diaphragmatic muscles involved in the opening and closing of the lower esophagical sphincter can become dysfunctional, causing the GERD symptoms.
Avatar n tn Hi---I have been to a throat specialist and he found no growths that would be causing me to have trouble speaking. I was diagnosed with a hiatial hernia many years ago. The throat specialist said my problems were due to reflux. I have no symptoms of reflux or heartburn. He said that didn't matter, it was still caused by reflux. ( I have been on Nexium, and Asteline spray for the throat. Very little help) The doctor did refer me to an ENT to have my stomach looked at.
Avatar m tn The tightness is not painful like I could have a heart attack but more irritating. I had surgery for a hiatal hernia and had laparoscopic fundoplication done and I also have scoliosis. I've been to a chiropractor for my tightness to see if that would help but it just came right back. Wonder if this could be related to my scoliosis.
Avatar n tn I also get the hicups often but I have a hiatal hernia.....if u also have EDS, u may also have one....thos with EDS r prone to them. Many chiarians do have an irritated vagus nerve....and it can do all kinds of weird things.... Does ur DH also have acid reflux?
Avatar m tn This is condition for me happened in seconds I feel like something was actually moved out of its place, is it possible that a hital hernia was developed or my LES suddenly stopped working. Before that day(27th may 2008) I was having normal heartburn and I might've had GERD but everything was normal.
135222 tn?1210432488 Sorry to tell you, but unfortunately, once in a while, heartburn just kicks up regardless of medication. You may want to call your GI doc, who will likely tell you to double dose for a few days. (I just recently had one of these episodes myself. Lasted for about a week and a half where everything set my heartburn off. I'm on Prevacid 30mg/day, and during that time it was 60mg/day in addition to Mylanta.) It may have been the pill getting stuck. That happens.
Avatar n tn For the past 3 years I have had reflux, heartburn and a sensation of the food sticking in my throat or asophogus not wanting to go down. yesterday evening I had cramps on the left side of my lower stomach all the way to above my hip and swelling of the lower stomach...
Avatar m tn Hi there, Heartburn, nausea, regurgitation are few common symptoms of hiatal hernia. You should be taking medications for relief in symptoms of GERD.If the GERD is severe, complicated, or unresponsive to medications, surgery may be performed. It is suggested to consult a gastroenterologist for further opinion and management. Do keep me posted on how you are doing. Best luck and kind regards!
Avatar n tn I have recently had a gastro endoscopy and been diagnosed with a 3cm sliding hiatal hernia, I sometimes get heartburn and I know that GERD can go hand in hand with this condition, however heartburn is not my main problem, my main problem is that I cannot go more than a few hours without having to eat, it seems that as soon as my stomach gets too empty I start to hypersalivate or drool so bad that my mouth becomes like a tap, I also for some reason get an accompanying sensitivity and discomfort i
Avatar f tn How common is it to be diagnosed with Acid Reflux (GERD) when one was diagnosed with a sliding hiatus hernia? I was diagnosed with the hiatus hernia yesterday when I had an upper endoscopy and my GI doctor took biopsies to check for GERD, celiac disease and some other things. I was just wondering how common it is to have a hiatus hernia and also GERD or to have GERD and also a hiatus hernia.
Avatar f tn A large retrocardiac hiatal hernia is seen with the gastric fundus and at least half of the gastric body projecting above the diaphragm, protruding through the esophageal hiatus. I am scheduled for a capsule endoscopy in about 3 weeks. I suffer occassional heartburn but Dr has put we on Prilocsec which I have had no problems with since. My question is... with a hiatal hernia this large, are they going to end up doing surgery??? I am a 48 year old female, 168 pounds and 5'3"....
Avatar f tn Hello. I'm a 33-year old man, usually healthy. Due to a stomach ache and mild heartburn a few months ago, I went through gastroscopy in which a mild inflammation of the stomach was diagnosed. In addition, the doctor observed that the stomach was large and twisted, and it was difficult for him to push the endoscope further down the stomach. The doctor suspected a Volvulus and/or Paraesophageal hernia, and sent me to a CT scan of the stomach. My question is: is MRI also possible in this case?
