Common Questions and Answers about Heartburn and difficulty swallowing

heartburn

678297 tn?1226546462 I had a sore throat for a couple months and a feeling of a lump in my throat with difficulty swallowing. Turned out to be acid reflux. Not sure if that's what you have, but thought I'd mention.
456874 tn?1218139741 There might be a difference, though, between having a hard time swallowing during the physical exam and having a hard time swallowing in general. Does your dr plan to take any action in your case? You might want to post this as a separate question and see if any members here can give you more detailed insight. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Hello. I have had severe heartburn and difficulty with swallowing for many years and finally went to a GI doctor who did an EGD. During the scope, my esophagus was torn and the MD was unable to view my entire esophagus. I went in for a second scope after my esophagus rested and a biopsy was taken (and I recieved another small tear). It was determined that I have Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EE).
Avatar f tn Hi there, Prednisone can cause gastro esophageal reflux disease as one of its side effects. The symptoms of GERD are heartburn, regurgitation, difficulty in swallowing, nausea, pain with swallowing etc.It is possible that the symptoms experienced by you are due to prednisolone. At the same time other predisposing factors for GERD are hiatal hernia, obesity,Zollinger Ellison syndrome etc.It is suggested to visit your attending doctor and get evaluated.
Avatar n tn Hello, I cannot think of any condition associoated with both urticaria and difficulty swallowing except eosinophilic esophagitis. Symptoms of EE can range from severe heartburn, difficulty swallowing, food impaction in the esophagus, nausea, vomiting and weight loss to urticarial rash.Mostly, patients with eosinophilic esophagitis suffer from food allergies also. Diagnosis is obtained during an upper GI endoscopy where biopsies are taken of the esophagus.
Avatar f tn I never mentioned the stones once to the specialist because of this, I was diagnosed with a fungal infection in my mouth in October 2020, but after taking antibiotics the following swab came back negative. I also suffer from GERD and have had heartburn since 2015 and been on omeprazole daily since 2017, which stops the heartburn completely, however if I miss out for a day or two the heartburn comes back.
Avatar f tn I have difficulty swallowing, pain in throat, cough, headache, full feeling around jaw and ears. I am 67 years old.
Avatar f tn Forr tha past few months it has been dizziness and chest pain. Now it is the lump in the throat type and difficulty in swallowing feeling.Have recently had some genuine problems with my stomach that have been treated, but was wondering how common such a symptom is amongst everyone else here?It is as if it feels "too real" to be anxiety related.
Avatar f tn Difficulty swallowing is an ocasional side effect of levothroyxine, and the reasons are unclear. It was reported as a side effect several times to the FDA, but they have not altered the PDR handout. As for your other symptoms, you haven't elaborated on them, so it is impossible to comment. In general, most physicians address "one single issue" per visit.
Avatar f tn I have been having trouble swallowing for a couple of weeks now and it has progressively gotten worse I use to be able to force the food down but now I can't I will sit there with food stuck in my throat unable to swallow. A few years ago I used to get these pains in my neck and they would just be a uncomfortable.
1315039 tn?1274218541 A side effect or antidepressants, and antipsychotics is dry mouth. Put a call into your Dr. and ask him. When you have problems swallowing, it can cause you to aspirate food or fluid into your lungs, and can be fatal. As an almost nurse people with this diagnoses are always on a thickened, soft (puree) diet, to prevent aspiration. It could be anxiety, or could be something more severe, so I would definitely ask your Dr.
Avatar f tn I am diagnosed with a multinodular goiter and am awaiting an appointment with an ENT. Currently I have difficulty swallowing and my neck and jaw is constantly swolen and painfull. How do I cope with that? Painpill do not work.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing difficulty swallowing but it has progressed to near severe. Even swallowing water can be very difficult. I believe that anxiety plays a role regarding my difficulty swallowing but it is not the sole reason. However, anxiety may be the reason it has gotten progressively worse. I had an echo and Hida scan(I think its called) that yielded no results.
Avatar n tn I have been having difficulty swallowing for a few months (food particles sticking in throat regularly) and having to swallow several times to get them down. I also have thick throat mucus. My maternal grandfather died of ALS but all 4 of his children are in their 60's and have no symptoms yet. I feel like I trip on my right foot more often than the average person. I am concerned about the source of my swallowing problems!!
Avatar n tn My dog seems to have a lot of difficulty swallowing when he eats or drinks and he ends up hacking and coughing most of it up on the floor. He also coughs up a lot of phlegm when he gets up in the morning and he purse-lip breaths. He also has a bad mouth odor. I had his teeth cleaned about 8 months ago, but this is a different odor.

Avatar f tn s always liquids), cracking voice, throat irritation, post nasal drip, throat clearing, difficulty swallowing, sensation of something in throat and worse asthma. I take allergy medications (antihistamines and steroid nasal spray) and haven't had problems with post nasal drip for a while...I was wondering why that's been happening lately. Thanks for the list...I'll take a trip to my doctor.
Avatar f tn s what made me go to doc in first place) and difficulty swallowing. I have began taking the medication again and have stopped all caffeine and alcohol as well as carbonated drinks. I am worried that I am too late and that I have that Barrets or have esophogus cancer. I have no other symptoms really - havent had an incidence of heartburn in a long time until a few days ago. I plan on making an appt. with doc next week. My mom died of uterine cancer so I am very psycho about cancer.
