Common Questions and Answers about Health insurance deductible definition

Avatar f tn What health insurance coverage/plan do you have? How much do you pay deductible and premium? Im so confuse about that. I'm 35 and planning family soon, but I'm so confused about this. thank ;you Just trying to get an idea.
Avatar m tn Looking at health insurance for the first time... I'm seeing $5000 deductibles at the cheapest for $100 a month. Does this mean I pay every bill up to $5000 before insurance kicks in? Seems like they don't really cover anything except horrible accidents or diseases that might bankrupt me. Is this really just bankruptcy insurance for the horribly afflicted?
Avatar m tn hello, i don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but i am applying for health insurance and i had questions about the 'annual deductible'. Is this something i have to pay before i get coverage? or how does this work out? It's a temporary health plan by the way (6 months) with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. So Could anyone possibly explain this deductible to me please?
Avatar f tn Yes you do, here in the UK we have the nhs so we don't have to pay, but other countries like US don't have nhs they have health insurance instead so, like with our car insurance, if u don't have insurance or ur insurance doesn't cover it then u have to pay
Avatar f tn actually urs doesnt sound too good either u just said u have a 4000$deductible thats the highest deductible ive ever heard of. just wait until ur other bills start coming in.
Avatar m tn I am so far a healthy 43 year old/m in pa. I am trying to decide which health insurance plan will be good for my situation and I am looking for some opinions here. This Month my group plan ends and I can take cobra but there is no financial benefit to taking my same PPO plan which gives me to price break for being unemployed. So I am trying to look at this at a meaningful way. Since my PPO was $475/m plue $29 dental I just cant be paying that on my own now.
Avatar m tn First off...I feel this topic is absolutely relevant. Health insurance is a concern to all and I think we all can benefit from the ideas brought out from this thread. HCV treatment costs (whether treating with meds or not) are horrendous and can financially ruin anyone without the right insurance coverage. Ok...Willy: My opinion is that I would stay with what you have and carefully tweek the deductible if you have to.
Avatar f tn I was interested in seeing how many of us have health insurance vs no health insurance.
Avatar n tn So with HSA eligible health plans, almost always one has to meet one’s deductible (meaning they have to pay for their services out of their pocket) before the carrier starts paying for any services. Now those with health issues are more likely to need/use services & it is certain that they will be required to pay their deductible.
11294269 tn?1422402907 Something has got to give. Its just too much. The one job i cannot stand is the one that offers health insurance. I am planning to leave this job. As a single woman(i plan on getting married in the coming months), what are my options for health insurance? Im nervous and so unbelievably stressed. This whole "Affordable Healthcare Act" isn't very affordable. I went to the website and for about $400/month I have to pay a $3000 deductible and get 50% coverage.
Avatar n tn m trying to decide on a high deductible plan vs. a low deductible plan. In my opinion, the BEST thing about health insurance is that when you get a $4000 bill from the doctor, they turn around a say "no, that procedure is really only worth $2000, so here is your money, have a nice day." And the doctor or hospital usually accepts it. Sooo....
Avatar n tn Dear jack1122, Dear jack1122, With your pr-existing condition you should contact the Illinois Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan which is guaranteed issue which means you can not be declined due to your pre-ex condition. You can browse their website @ and use their “EXPLORE THE CHIP WEBSITE” tool (especially look for the premium calculator under UTILITIES) and call them at Toll Free 866-851-2751 or 217-782-6333 if you have any questions.
Avatar f tn The bill came in today and it was $9.50. Neither of my plans have a deductible and i receive my insurance through work.
649848 tn?1534633700 JOHNSON CHICAGO (AP) - As a key enrollment deadline hits Monday, many people without health insurance have been sizing up policies on the new government health care marketplace and making what seems like a logical choice: They're picking the cheapest one. Increasingly, experts in health insurance are becoming concerned that many of these first-time buyers will be in for a shock when they get medical care next year and discover they're on the hook for most of the initial cost.
Avatar f tn Yes, if your insurance deductible renews before then or even while you are in the hospital
Avatar f tn I have blue cross blue Shield of Texas and Medicaid as secondary insurance the question is what does medicaid covers does it covers my deductible?? I have the texas childrens health plan.....
Avatar f tn Depends on how ur insurance works.. If ur deductible applies u will need to pay a certain %.. If u already met ur deductible then everything should b covered at 100%.. Double check because I used to work for BofA when I was prego w my second baby and I was gonna have to pay a good couple thousands for my L&D plus how many days I stayed.. Pain in the bu**...
Avatar f tn Is if nyboby is using private insurance and Medicaid at the same time.... My insurance deductible is so high that I can afford it so I went and applies for Medicaid and guess whatThank God got approved now my ? Is do I use both or just Medicaid any experience in this topic ladies......
Avatar f tn There is no way to figure out by us if it is covered by kids health care because insurance is all so different. Example, my family has insurance. But we have a big deductible. They pay all well care (physicals and that kind of thing) but everything else is applied to our annual deductible. So, in essence, we pay out of pocket until we meet the deductible. Others have insurance that just pays it all. So, it really depends on your parents insurance. I'd leave that to your mom and dad.
Avatar n tn Since when has prenatal care not been preventative care? My new insurance will not pay for anything until my huge deductible is met. All my prenatal visits wont add up to it and i am due in the new year. So technically I will have to pay double deductible for this one pregnancy. I hate Obama and his not care. I will not be going for anymore doctors appoinments, we simply can't afford it.
585414 tn?1288941302 We had no health insurance that last 3 1/2 years until this summer. We couldn't afford to purchase it and still send my son to preschool. Now we have a high deductible family plan that covers one yearly check up for each of us. Everything else goes against our deductible and we just get the insurance discount. So my last little procedure should have gone against the deductible I thought, but apparently I haven't had the insurance lone enough so it's not covered at all.
Avatar m tn Starting October 1, 2013 all states are scheduled to open an online Health Insurance Marketplace where you will be able to compare individual health insurance plans side by side. Depending on what state you live in, information on plans and premium rates may already to be available to you. Four plan types will be offered through the state exchanges (Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze).
Avatar f tn HI CML Thanks so much for the insurance information. I will look into it. That's a small deductible too. How many cats do you own?
290867 tn?1333569278 Something I learned from our insurance agent is that if you currently have health ins. MOST ins companies will pick you up if you choose to go with them. We were worried about not being able to switch because of pre-existing conditions, but she said we don't have to worry about that.
2009129 tn?1335370857 You do not have to be approved for medicaid just because you are pregnant anymore (so much for the affordable healthcare act). Medicaid is income based-I was denied because my husband & I made too much money, in spite of the fact that the insurance he was able to get through work doesn't cover anything until the $3000 deductible is met (which we didn't have) so everything is out of pocket for us.
