Avatar f tn I added 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed to my diet for the past year. I was very discouraged when I received the results of my lipid panel results. Last year: total chol.=238, trig.=59, HDL=101, LDL=125. This year: total chol.=240, trig.=67, HDL=98, LDL=128. My bad numbers went up and my good number (HDL) went down. Why? (I am a 60 year old female. I exercise regularly (jog and ballet), I am 5'2" and weigh 92 pounds.
Avatar f tn Is the "flaxseed meal" you speak of come already ground up? I have read that flaxseed does no good unless it's ground up.
2019518 tn?1328532621 29 gms of protien with my daily dose of vitamins, omega 3, 6 and 9 from flaxseed, chia, raw steel oats (latter ground up and included in my protein drink) and a tablespoon of fresh blueberries. At mid morn I have a Multi grain bagal and 10 almonds then my small lunch of lean meat and a grapefruit or salad with a grapefruit.

16702 tn?1234090645 I'm guessing the results may vary. I use ground flax seed in a lot of things. I started using it about a year ago when I kept bloating and thought it was just slow bowels or something. Yeah, it was something alright. Anyway, I sneak it into cookies, oatmeal, on cereal, in yogurt, even sprinkle a little on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It keeps me regular but I still get my tingles and hot flashes. Oh well. At least I'm not constipated too.
Avatar m tn I was having usual symptoms of hypothyroidism - fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, hair loss, etc. Have been on Levothyroxine for several months now and have seen improvements in all symptoms except hair loss. I'm also on Plavix (due to a TIA), which I understand can also cause hair loss. I started on it shortly before beginning to exhibit thyroid symptons. I've had breast cancer, so can't take estrogen.
Avatar f tn Cinnamon is a metabolism booster so I put it on air-popped popcorn, oatmeal, and toast. Another thing that I read was good for weight loss is coconut oil...so good! I use it on everything! I put flaxseed in my smoothies everyday and sometimes chia seed. I eat raw almonds for a crunchy snack. I drink Bod.e Burn before I exercise though I usually just take a long walk. Just get up and move! Remember to eat every 3 hours...a lean protein, a complex carb, and a healthy fat! Drink lots of water...
Avatar n tn Your change in appetite and food tolerance seems to have resulted in fairly rapid weight loss. I suggest you call your doctor and try to figure out what these symptoms might represent. Stomach and duodenal ulcers can cause abdominal pains, change in appeitite and even early satiety - I think you should look into this in case something serious is going on!

But Greeks don't sit around eating this yoghurt, which is prevalent in the Mediterranean region, they mostly use it as a dipping condiment or for cooking. Dairy can also be problematic, as it is rich in calcium but very low in magnesium, so if you overdo it you will leach the magnesium out of your system.
Avatar f tn I disagree that running is the only exercise that increases weight loss. I've lost weight with walking briskly for an hour daily. I've also lost weight in the past, with yoga and other forms of exercise. Anything that keeps you moving will burn calories and that's the goal.
408496 tn?1269603350 re probably not drinking caffeine anyway. Another thing that helps is flaxseed. I get this ground up and put it in my yogurt for breakfast. It makes a huge difference. And another thing is to increase your iron. Iron deficiency makes RLS worse.

Avatar f tn I use flaxseed in a loose ground form mixed in with some yogurt on a daily basis. I started using this to benefit from the Omega-3s and to help with irritable bowel. It has really helped cut down on the gut pains. But I also soon noticed that the practice kept me more regular than anything else I've tired. I do also take a softener twice a day. As a side, I have my horse to thank for introducing me to the wonders of flaxseed.

I'm trying to avoid hormone replacement therapy and I have every symptom listed...My body was thrown into it after I finished chemotherapy for my liver...All of the things the chemo affected are now back to normal except this, and the p-meno is getting worse!
