Avatar f tn Hi, I take flaxseed oil. I was taking it for the benefits to the heart. Haven't heard about benefits to panic attack sufferers. Would like to learn more though.
Avatar m tn I was having usual symptoms of hypothyroidism - fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, hair loss, etc. Have been on Levothyroxine for several months now and have seen improvements in all symptoms except hair loss. I'm also on Plavix (due to a TIA), which I understand can also cause hair loss. I started on it shortly before beginning to exhibit thyroid symptons. I've had breast cancer, so can't take estrogen.
Avatar m tn Loaded with alpha-linolenic acid, an essential fatty acid that helps reduce inflammation, flaxseed has been used for centuries for medicinal and health reasons. Gandhi proclaimed, "Wherever flaxseed becomes a regular food item among the people, there will be better health." The seed itself has terrific nutritional value, very usable protein, tremendous fatty acids, and minerals like magnesium, potassium, and zinc. Additionally, they're a great source of fiber.
Avatar n tn Has anyone used flaxseed oil for the 20g's of fat. I thought if I mixed it with a fruit smoothy it would be tolerable and I also found a flavored flaxseed oil but that was pretty expensive. I want to try to use the "good" fat for protease inhibitor. This anti-depressant already has me eating like crazy. I start this Friday Yikes!!
Avatar f tn I would listen to your cardiologist or internal medicine doctor if they are very familiar with this situation. Omega 3 fish oil and flaxseed oil can both sometimes increase bleeding in patients taking blood thinners like coumadin (warfarin), apirin, and plavix. In diabetics on glucose lowering drugs there is some evidence that suggest that flaxseed oil may increase fasting blood sugar levels.
Avatar f tn With cooking be sure to eat Unsaturated fats which include Olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, safflower, soybean, sunflower, corn oil, or flaxseed oil. When using a butter spread avoid butter and all other hydrogenated/Saturated fats. The saturated fats consume more fats and increase our cholesterol. A good guide to help you get back on track is www.sparkpeople.
Avatar f tn Cinnamon is a metabolism booster so I put it on air-popped popcorn, oatmeal, and toast. Another thing that I read was good for weight loss is coconut oil...so good! I use it on everything! I put flaxseed in my smoothies everyday and sometimes chia seed. I eat raw almonds for a crunchy snack. I drink Bod.e Burn before I exercise though I usually just take a long walk. Just get up and move! Remember to eat every 3 hours...a lean protein, a complex carb, and a healthy fat! Drink lots of water...
Avatar n tn I have very dry skin, which has been worse since I've been having thyroid problems - I had been taking flaxseed oil, but the doctor suggested that I try fish oil instead (3000 mg/ day), as it's more easily absorbed. It made a real difference - for the better :-) You should probably ask your doctor, but if they have no objections, it could be quite helpful.
7584600 tn?1392261434 I HAVE read so many conflicting things..Is flaxseed oil bad for the liver or not!
Avatar f tn I missed perimenopause, I guess, because I had a hysterectomy at age 34 for severe endometriosis. You might try drinking vanilla soymilk, maybe put it in your cereal, as I did. It has natural estrogen like effects. You might try natural sources of omega fatty acids for mood, like freshwater fish, such as salmon and tuna, walnuts and macadamia nuts, pumpkin seeds, and flaxseed. You might try flaxseed or if you aren't troubled by the fishy aftertaste, enteric coated fish oil capsules.

Avatar f tn Does anyone know if drizzling flaxseed oil onto salad, orange juice and other foods is OK for people with MS? I heard that flaxseed oil is supposed to help patients with MS a lot. It contains Omega 3 fatty acids.
Avatar f tn ve been on baby aspirin and a prenatal for quite a while now, and I also did flaxseed oil for a period of time. The baby aspirin was suggested by my RE after I had my first miscarriage, and the flaxseed oil I added myself after reading about it online. Once I started using fertility drugs, however, I stopped all the extras and went back to just baby aspirin and prenatals.
Avatar f tn My mom had high cholesterol (but never had clogged arteries.) I've had a tendency towards it as well but am thin, work out and have a good diet. Three years ago, my cholesterol came back at 280 (total) with LDL at 156. I told my dr. I'd exercise/diet for 3 months and if that didn't work, I'd go on meds. After daily exercise and strict diet (hardly any saturated fat) my total cholesterol was brought down to 198.

Avatar n tn · Include good amounts of cold pressed oils such as flaxseed, pumpkin seed, and walnut oil, as these oil lubricate joints and help generate and deposit bone material. · Until you are healed, avoid vegetables from the nightshade family. These would include green peppers, eggplant, potatoes, and tomatoes.
Avatar m tn You really only need to drop your LDL by 20 points, which is not very much. Do a low fat diet, not empty carbs like breads, sugars and pastas. Add fruits and veggies as well. The easiest way is to cut out fast foods so if you indulge in burgers and fries, stop and that alone will bring your number down. Is there a reason why you don't want to take a statin?

Avatar n tn Aim to keep your calorie intake to between 1,500 and 1,800 calories. The lower end is for women; the higher end is for men. Maintain your ideal body weight. One way to judge your ideal body weight is via body mass index (BMI). Your BMI represents the percentage of your total body weight that’s due to fat. It should be under 25. Many health clubs have simple handheld devices that provide a BMI reading. These also can be purchased at drug stores.
