Common Questions and Answers about Flaxseed benefits weight loss

flax-seed

Avatar f tn Hi, I take flaxseed oil. I was taking it for the benefits to the heart. Haven't heard about benefits to panic attack sufferers. Would like to learn more though.
Avatar m tn Some manufacturers claim superior benefits with either high or low molecular weight versions. However, one study failed to find any difference between high molecular weight and low molecular weight beta-glucan for normalizing cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Beta-glucan, as a substance widely present in foods, is thought to have a high margin of safety.
Avatar n tn I'm on week 31 of tx. The HepC is no longer active and I only have 17 weeks remaining on the program. The results are very positive. However, I still suffer from all the major side effects and had to go on leave to try and just focus on my health. The most important one to me has been my weight loss. Since the beginning, 03/09, I've lost 60 lbs and am still loosing. My appetite has been little to none, but I am attempting to change that.
Avatar f tn i also have been using coconut oil in my coffee with agave and in my smoothies ive read so many differant articles stating all the benefits of using coconut oil, fish oil, flaxseed, parssley tea. can i benefit from them?

Avatar m tn If you want to reduce fat and keep it off, then it will take some time. I won't assurance 5-10 pounds weight loss in a week or two weeks’ time, but I will say you can reasonably reduce 1-2 pounds of body fat a week, and build muscle at the same rate. You can’t put the body weight on overnight instantaneously, and therefore it's not going to magically disappear overnight.
Avatar f tn There is nothing magical about Greek yoghurt -- it's just yoghurt with much of the liquid removed, making it higher in protein and thicker. But Greeks don't sit around eating this yoghurt, which is prevalent in the Mediterranean region, they mostly use it as a dipping condiment or for cooking. Dairy can also be problematic, as it is rich in calcium but very low in magnesium, so if you overdo it you will leach the magnesium out of your system.
Avatar f tn I would listen to your cardiologist or internal medicine doctor if they are very familiar with this situation. Omega 3 fish oil and flaxseed oil can both sometimes increase bleeding in patients taking blood thinners like coumadin (warfarin), apirin, and plavix. In diabetics on glucose lowering drugs there is some evidence that suggest that flaxseed oil may increase fasting blood sugar levels.
Avatar n tn Hi there. As far as I know, studies about flax seed and cancer are still in their infancy stage. The cancer more frequently associated with this is prostate cancer. I'm quoting this text from the american cancer society website: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/NWS/content/NWS_1_1x_Flaxseed_Ginseng_Show_Promise_for_Cancer_Patients.
Avatar m tn I was having usual symptoms of hypothyroidism - fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, hair loss, etc. Have been on Levothyroxine for several months now and have seen improvements in all symptoms except hair loss. I'm also on Plavix (due to a TIA), which I understand can also cause hair loss. I started on it shortly before beginning to exhibit thyroid symptons. I've had breast cancer, so can't take estrogen.
Business woman2 I heard from some people that juice cleanse is just a temporary weight loss program. Once the person goes back to the same diet, the same thing happens again. Are there benefits of juice cleanse that are not just a temporary weight loss?
Avatar f tn Cinnamon is a metabolism booster so I put it on air-popped popcorn, oatmeal, and toast. Another thing that I read was good for weight loss is coconut oil...so good! I use it on everything! I put flaxseed in my smoothies everyday and sometimes chia seed. I eat raw almonds for a crunchy snack. I drink Bod.e Burn before I exercise though I usually just take a long walk. Just get up and move! Remember to eat every 3 hours...a lean protein, a complex carb, and a healthy fat! Drink lots of water...
Avatar f tn I have been reading about it on the internet and according to the reports it is great for weight loss and has many health benefits. I am hoping someone out there has tried it and can let me know how it went. There are lots of things on the internet and it's extremely hard to filter out the good and the bad.
Avatar f tn I do alright using flaxseed meal rather than the psyllium based fibers that you mentioned. I can use just a little in water, like the fiber drinks, or just sprinkle a little on my food. It's an actual food product and it has nutritional benefits, like omega 3. I buy the Bob's Red Mill that is available at Trader Joe's, because it's more affordable. It's already ground flaxseed meal. I haven't heard of the Heather's Tummy Fibers, so I'll have to look for that.
1099201 tn?1338180918 Someone asked a similar question the other day, and here's what I wrote then. Others might write in as well with useful tips. The simplistic formula for losing weight is to intake less and use up more. Less intake means less eating (especially carbs, empty calories, sweets, and excess food), and "use up" means activity and/or overt exercising. It's not like you have to go to the gym to be active enough to use up the food you eat.
Avatar f tn Many people find that they cannot lose weight by means of exercise alone. Exercise has many benefits, but weight loss may not be among them. In fact, strenuous exercise can even make it harder to lose weight, for many people. (I keep saying "many people," because it's highly individualized.) Diet, for many people, is much more important for weight loss than exercise is.
Tbd Sure, any decrease in fatty or processed food is going to improve your cholesterol numbers. So, yes. Weight loss is always a good thing too. Don't forget to add in some physical exercise as that will help your HDL number grow which is good AND balances the total ratio out.
480331 tn?1310403529 I don't know how many of you ladies believe drinking herbal teas in pregnancy are beneficial or not, but I just wanted to share this website with you. I started drinking Raspberry Red Leaf Tea in the middle of my 3rd trimester. This tea claims by midwives and health professionals to help women labor more effectively and less painful, due to an alkaloid called fragrine, which lends tone to the uterus, by strengthening the uterine wall.
Avatar f tn Usually when protein intake is very low or eating incomplete proteins (plant sources and not combining them together), one of the side effects is hair loss. Hair loss can also be after having a baby with the hormone changes or certain illnesses. I do not recommend diatomaceous earth, however, if you do use it be careful you do not inhale it which can damage your lungs. Suggest increasing your protein intake and see what happens. Thank you for your question.
Avatar f tn While exercise has lots of benefits, some people find that it only contributes a relatively smaller amount to weight loss. I tend to believe that weight loss is primarily diet controlled - both portions and the quality of what you eat. Without knowing more about what you eat and drink each day (a food diary is really helpful with that!) it can be hard to know where to start cutting back.
Business woman1 For example, when a person goes on a low carbohydrate diet they will lose weight very quickly, there will be fat loss and water loss. If you look at the word carbohydrate...the word hydrate is attached to the word. So our scale weights are intimately tied to our carbohydrate consumption. When someone loses 7 lbs in 7 days, it is physiologically impossible for that to be all fat. So how much of that is water, fat, muscle etc..
