urine-test

Avatar m tn ( cant find any. My urine test was done at a labratory not in the doctors office.
Avatar n tn Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms. Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check. Ive had a urine test and it was ok so Im just curious, as it was clear is that it? am I clear for diabetes? thanks.
Avatar f tn Before testing ask yourself what am I going to do with the test results. If your testing just to see what your glucose is, why test. ReliOn's Test & learn, Accu Check Testing in pairs, both take a before and after test of, meal, activity, ect to see how it effects glucose. Accu Check 360 view is testing before & after meals, fasting & bedtime for 3 days. This gives you a overall view and spots to focus on. Both have pdf files that can be downloaded on their web sites.
Avatar n tn Labs have specified time lines to test blood samples. Surpassing the time line makes the test results bogus, the test is a throw out. Some doctors have their own labs while most send them to an outside independent lab. In either case, the doctor's lab technician or an outside lab technician was tardy testing your blood sample. Complain to your doctor as he/she should make every effort to correct this tardiness so it doesn't happen again.
Avatar n tn The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.
Avatar m tn Unprotected oral second void, maybe 1/2 ounce wasted then in the cup NAAT,, male is this an accurate test? Potential prostate swollen and frequent urination?
Avatar f tn Excess glucose is sent to the kidneys to be expelled and is captured in your urine. The blood test administered by the nurse and the urine test results will depend on the last time you ate food and/or drank a colored liquid. The best test to determine whether you have diabetes or not is an A1c (HbA1c) test. Go here for an explanation http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003640.
Avatar m tn You can buy on line Urine Reagent Strips quite cheaply. There are some that test the urine just for glucose, but they do not give an accurate recording of how much sugar there is in the blood stream. These sticks are a good indicator, but they will only detect glucose in the urine if there is above a certain level (fairly high) of glucose in the urine. An HbA1c blood test shows average blood glucose levels over a sustained period (about a 3 month period).
866901 tn?1505506236 In googling "blood glucose test strips", I found several websites which offered test strips and glucometers at varying prices (ie.http://www.diabetesnet.com/test_strips.php). Since your cat is going to need lifelong care, it will pay for you to shop around.
Avatar n tn If you had soap or alcohol residue on your finger the test results would be imperfect. If the meter was old and mishandled, uncalibrated, test strips expired the test would results would be imperfect. The OGTT is one way to help determine blood glucose levels. Be sure to fast 8-10 hours prior. No food or colored liquids during this period. Don't cheat. Just a little bit skewers the results. Good luck.
Avatar f tn They did not send the urine to a lab. I do not have an infection as the urine strips test for leukocytes (which are fighting infection cells)..
Avatar f tn Testing the urine is one way to check for ketones. You can pick up urine test strips at your local drug store. Just follow the instruction to do the test. If I remember right if the test strip turnes pick you have ketones in your urine, plus the strip tells you if there is blood, glucose, and a couple other things. But If I were you I would go get checked out just incase. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I say this because its known for home meters to go astray with inaccurate results. Expired test strips also will be inaccurate. If interested I can post a Johnson & Johnson web page for free home glucose meter. And lots of good diabetes recipes on the Internet. Do a Google search.
507875 tn?1423160261 I just got a call from my nurse with the results of my glucose test and she wasn't too happy. My level was 144 and she said it should have been 130 no more than 135...~sad face~...So now I have to do a three day "diet/fast" beginning on monday and then I have to do the three hour test on Thursday...I really, really hope that the results are better with the next test...I don't want to have to go on insulin..I am tired of needles!!
Avatar m tn ya i ate the usual heavy lunch really rich in carb(wheat flour bread.,fried potatoes refined oil to name a few )....and the testing was not done at home but went to a lab where my blood and urine checked for sugar.....blood 104 and urine -NIL result.
Avatar n tn However, I use the Accu-chek Advantage and am happy with it. I have compared its results to lab blood tests, and find that the results are very accurate. The Advantage does not use a drum dispenser, but uses the one-strip at a time system that allows the user to replace a strip quickly if a test goes wrong. You may want to check to see if your insurance company will cover this one if you do not wish to use the automatic dispenser system.
Avatar n tn I am a type 2 diabetic and recently lost my job and my health insurance, I have not been able to afford to get my medicines and my blood glucose levels have been horrible, I ran out of glucose strips about a month and a half ago and they were running in the high 300's and even into the 400's. Here lately I have been going to the bathroom ALOT and I'm sure my keytones are very high, because I have lost about 30 lbs. in the last 2 months.
Avatar n tn t have the strip stored properly, the testing chemicals on the strip will become compromised/contaminated and will give you the crazy results. Be sure your test strips are stored in a small, airtight container. And that you use a clean urine collection cup as well. I've made these mistakes before so it's easy enough to forget about it. Hope all is well.
1305767 tn?1361192676 Before stating whether you are in danger of diabetes, or you are normal it would be nice to know the make/model and age of your meter. Age of the test strips, if you are within the expiration date of the test strips, and whether the meter requires calibration prior to use. Knowing the aforementioned helps to determine if your test results qualify or not.
Avatar m tn I did something really dumb today and now I'm scared. I was unclogging a toilet when some of the water splashed my hands. I have open wounds on my hands. When I looked down into the toilet I saw some used blood glucose test strips. I didn't see any blood. I immediately washed my hands with plenty of soap. About 1-3 minutes later I washed my hands again 3 times. About 10 minutes after that I washed my hands twice more and disinfected them with alcohol.
Avatar m tn if you are leery of docs, first ask your diabetic friend to check your blood glucose,or test your urine w/ glucose testing strips. also journal all symptoms times and what you eat and when if you go to the md,good luck,it's not the end of the world.
709686 tn?1277432159 One portiion of the physical is they take a urine sample to check for sugar. My test did not reveal sugar/glucose in the urine. Over the past few years I've had several blood tests done to see if I'm diabetic and each one comes back negative. My question is this. Is it possible to be diabetic when all tests come back negative? I seem to have all the symptoms and my grandfather died from diabetes at a very young age. HELP!
