Avatar n tn t have the strip stored properly, the testing chemicals on the strip will become compromised/contaminated and will give you the crazy results. Be sure your test strips are stored in a small, airtight container. And that you use a clean urine collection cup as well. I've made these mistakes before so it's easy enough to forget about it. Hope all is well.
Avatar n tn I again bought urine strips that detect blood only, and the strips shows non-hemolyzed trace only after drinking beer or coffee. If I drink a glass of water with a tsp of baking soda, the test strips come out negative. I guess my question is "is it harmful to drink a glass of baking soda water daily?", or should I return to the doctor and go thru kidney x-rays, cystoscopy, etc again? I really hate to give up my coffe ...
1973666 tn?1325964688 Why not buy a pack of urine reagent test strips that you can use to test your urine for protein. A pack of 100 strips can be had for not too much money ($12.00 to around $50 depending on the brand). Find them through Google. Then if you see that you do have protein in your urine, you could use the strip as evidence to show your primary doctor that you need a referral to a nephrologist. I like the idea of using strips for testing at different times of day.
Avatar m tn ( cant find any. My urine test was done at a labratory not in the doctors office.
178590 tn?1294176767 Having trace of either should be fine. At least when I go for my appts and the dip test shows a slight trace of one or the other, I tell the nurse the results and they have never showed a concern with a trace result. Good for you to do the testing if you ob/gyn is not. Are there other good ob/gyn doctors in your area that you can switch too? If your current doctor is not doing all the regular monitoring that he/she should be, maybe it's time to switch?
1008040 tn?1279159403 they were all urine test i used FRER test i hope i get a blood test at the docs monday to confirm im just so worried but i know its best to loose it this early at 6 weeks than for it to a stillbirth again i just want this so bad im really upset its going to be really hard to wait on the other test
Avatar n tn ve been doing the First Response OPK since day 12, 2x a day, and still have no positive results. Someone on another site wrote that AMA women do not test positive on these OPKs...is this true? I have had a positive result until last month. Please look at my current chart and let me know what you think.
Avatar n tn I need some help with these test results. Let me begin by saying that I have a kidney condition known as FSGS. My kidney function has basically normal (stage 1-kidney disease). I check my urine at home with Chem Strips to check for protein. About a month ago I noticed nitrates were testing positive on the strips (Only +first morning urine), I had no symptoms of a UTI and I did nothing.
Avatar f tn I have been scared of ngu or some other form of infection. I have used multiply uti test strips which test white blood cell count in urine. None have been positive, one or two showed trace amount of wbc (I've taken about 18 tests). Would these show an infection (ngu) if one existed???
Avatar m tn You can buy on line Urine Reagent Strips quite cheaply. There are some that test the urine just for glucose, but they do not give an accurate recording of how much sugar there is in the blood stream. These sticks are a good indicator, but they will only detect glucose in the urine if there is above a certain level (fairly high) of glucose in the urine. An HbA1c blood test shows average blood glucose levels over a sustained period (about a 3 month period).
Avatar n tn The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.
Avatar m tn Now what is with these test strips showing blood in my urine every time I get checked at the clinic ? Should I be concerned ?
Avatar m tn 1. Urine test a few days after the symptoms started, the abnormal results from the test were the following: P.H. Level: 8.0 (normal is 5.0-6.0) Proteins: 15 mg/dl (normal is no proteins in urine) Note: cells isolated from the urethral epithelium, scarce mucous filament, leukocytes from 0 to 2 per field, very few coconut-like bacteria The doctor put me on Cephalexin for 7 days, and something to help with the pain.
741741 tn?1294284010 Well I got some opks of the net. The little tiny strips. After I got them I used one. There as a faint line (NEG), I didnt use another one for about 3 days as it said to start testing on cd 14. I have been testing now for I think 4 days. The thing is that that faint little line is only getting lighter!!! What does that mean? Did I already O, so early?? Im really confuse! Any help please!!!
Avatar f tn Yes, a urine quick test can tell you if you have WBC, but not if you have gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU or another infection that could be causing that. You need specific tests for that. If you have concerns about those, you need to let the doctor know so they can do specific tests.
Avatar n tn My Dr. sent out a sample for a culture. I see the results on my chart. It says "Final Report. No growth at One day" Is One day the normal limited time for a culture ? How accurate would this be ?
Avatar f tn They did not send the urine to a lab. I do not have an infection as the urine strips test for leukocytes (which are fighting infection cells)..
446156 tn?1275859576 a while passed and the blood wasnt back so I asked the nurse if he would repeat the urine test, but it front of me. He did, the test he used came up with a second line, but it was much lighter then the control line, and he told me that this was a negative result. I didnt argue with him.......my bloodwork came back and my hcg was over 500....
Avatar n tn I frequently use urine test strips to test my urine when I feel unwell that may be waterwork problem. Have had kidney stone surgically removed in the past. Nitrite on the stick will mean that it is a bladder problem - usually Cystitis. Positive leucocyte reading on the stick with or without signs of protein, usually means that there is a bacterial infection. If the doctor said you have a uti (urinary tract infection) this is anywhere from the kidneys down.
Avatar m tn I had been examining this board so I only took the urine test at 5 days post exposure which came back negative. I am holding off on the blood test until 6 weeks since, from what I have seen on here, that will give me accurate syphillis, and HIV results and gives me about a 70% chance of picking up Herpes. I did go to a urologist who said everything looked fine and he did a urethral swab, although it was after I had just given a urine sample.
Avatar n tn After a few days of cloudy urine we took her to see about a UTI. As they were trying to get a urine sample from her, they did a quick strip in the tiny sample we got, which showed positive for white cells. Later on, we took her back after a better sample, and the urinalysis came back negative. The problem seems to be ongoing however.
Avatar f tn Hi! I have used Clinical Guard ovulation strips, and they work. But I just discovered some called BFP, they make ovulation & pregnancy test strips, and they are super accurate and easy to read. They're my new "go-to" brand. I buy off of Amazon. Good luck! & lots of baby dust!
Avatar f tn So for curiosity sale I thought it would be fun to do one of those silly gender predictor tests with the baking side and urine... If it fizzles and foams it's a boy if it does nothing at all its a girl.. I did this test and mine fizzed really bad and foamed alot. Just curious if any other moms have tried this??? What were your results??? Did u end up having what the results we're on the test??
