The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price.
These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose.
You can get strips that detect less.
The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.
I frequently use urine test strips to test my urine when I feel unwell that may be waterwork problem. Have had kidney stone surgically removed in the past.
Nitrite on the stick will mean that it is a bladder problem - usually Cystitis.
Positive leucocyte reading on the stick with or without signs of protein, usually means that there is a bacterial infection. If the doctor said you have a uti (urinary tract infection) this is anywhere from the kidneys down.

About a month ago I noticed nitrates were testing positive on the strips (Only +first morning urine), I had no symptoms of a UTI and I did nothing. Then a few days ago my urine appeared green and was testing for blood, leukocytes, protein (I always have this), and still the nitrates(Now positive at any time of day tested). I then began having urgency issues as well as right side flank pain. I went to the Dr.
I'm 25 weeks pregnant. At around 19 weeks, after having urethral pain for 2 weeks, I went to the ER as i was certain I did have a UTI, even though my doctor dismissed my symptoms and told me the leukocytes and bacteria found were from contamination. I was in considerably more pain that same night so headed to the ER where they confirmed I had a UTI and put me on cephalexin. I took it for 4 days until I started having diarrhea.
I went to two doctors. Had gonnohrea and clamydia test 7 days post which were negative.
I went to plan parenthood today hoping to get swab test done. They said they didn't do that test. They took urine for second gonnohrea and clamydia test.
I just don't know what to do now. My urethra feels like there is urine in it after I pee and there is some sensitivity but I can't get confirmation on whether I have a nsu.
Really could use some opinions on this.
Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms.
Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check.
Ive had a urine test and it was ok so Im just curious, as it was clear is that it? am I clear for diabetes?

Two times I went to my doctor and he sent me to a lab and both times the results were negative. My doctor does physical & PSA test for prostate every 2 years and so far every thing is normal. The 3rd time the clinic said I have blood my doctor said he will ignore it.
This gas has a smell of rotten eggs. You can test its presence by test strips available OTC. If this is positive and you have smell of rotten eggs in urine then you need to cut down food items that contain sulfites. Most of this gas comes from sulfites a person consumes, which is a part of all preservatives. Sulfites are present in all juices, molasses, yellow dye in ready made food stuffs, and red wine.
This could also be a sign that you have a urinary tract infection. You can be tested for this at your doctors office or you can purchase test strips at your local drug store.
They usually have them at the pharmacy and no prescrition is required. If you do have a urinary tract infection, your doctor will prescribe a 3 day course of antibiotics. I would try drinking more water and cranberry juice and see if this helps. If not, see your doctor.
The other option would be to call your doctor and just ask if you could drop off a urine sample and have them test it. They may not make you pay for a whole appointment to do so.
So now, since it is evening, I would encourage you to take a warm bath , add some baking soda to the water to soothe things. Take any of your IC meds but not AZO the med that turns it orange since it can mess up a UA test.
You can buy on line Urine Reagent Strips quite cheaply. There are some that test the urine just for glucose, but they do not give an accurate recording of how much sugar there is in the blood stream. These sticks are a good indicator, but they will only detect glucose in the urine if there is above a certain level (fairly high) of glucose in the urine. An HbA1c blood test shows average blood glucose levels over a sustained period (about a 3 month period).
I again bought urine strips that detect blood only, and the strips shows non-hemolyzed trace only after drinking beer or coffee. If I drink a glass of water with a tsp of baking soda, the test strips come out negative. I guess my question is "is it harmful to drink a glass of baking soda water daily?", or should I return to the doctor and go thru kidney x-rays, cystoscopy, etc again? I really hate to give up my coffe ...
here there are three rapid strips determine,stat pak and unigold rapid test strips so the determine test strip for 2 years has been reacting the rest of the strips which are taken to be confirmatory test strips never react. If you read the original post you will get the whole history. So someone told me its highly sensitive to any viral infection but then again I asked whats that infection. No answer was given. My CBC results are all in range showing no presence of a virus.
Hi! I have used Clinical Guard ovulation strips, and they work. But I just discovered some called BFP, they make ovulation & pregnancy test strips, and they are super accurate and easy to read. They're my new "go-to" brand. I buy off of Amazon. Good luck! & lots of baby dust!
