5 pound schnauzer and has been limping a bit after exercise. I have started giving her 500 mg of glucosamine a day and wanted to know if this is the right dosage?
Would a like to try Glucosamine & Chondroitin for my mild hip arthritis. Anyone have good results?
Dr prescribed Meloxicam 15mg but am hesitant to start taking it.
She is about 47 lbs and is having hip discomfort......I want to buy a glucosamine supplement to see if help but some of them that I am seeing have a lot side effects....Do you have any suggestions for one that has less side effects?
As soon as she took the Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement, it took about one week to see a great improvement. After that, she had no more trouble with that leg.
She weighed 30lbs, and the correct maximum dosage for her was 500mg Glucosamine and 200mg Chondroitin once daily. I bought these as 'human grade' capsules (powder in a gelatin coating) and she had this with breakfast every day.
If your dog weighs 50-60lbs double that dose. (1000mg and 400mg.
Glucosamine/ Chondroitin/ MSM is generally used when there is suspected arthritis. The supplement is used to help the body make more cartilage, and to reduce pain; in the knee for example. There is controversy as to how helpful this supplement is in improving arthritic knee pain, but some patients do report benefit with long-term use.

This has helped my husbands knee pain and may help you also. Make sure and check with your doctor first though. It is not a prescription drug but it may interfere with other medications so it is best to ask your doctor if you can take it safely.
My bones/joints would get so back I could barely walk, and I could tell if it was going to rain anytime soon because they would hurt even more! The Glucosamine really helped! Also a good calcium supplement. If these thinks don't help over a few week period I'd talk to your Primary Dr. about other possibilities. Good luck, I hope this helped!
The rearch on this supplement combined with vitamin D is looking more and more promising for completely suppressing MS. Here's hoping the research holds up with more time. I have been taking this since last june and the numbness in the right side of my face is completely gone. Don't really want to get anyone's hopes up, but I am excited.
Otherwise, he is extremely active, runs with my younger dog, shows no signs of limbing. His weight is great. He is taking a glucosamine supplement which hasn't done much. All his blood work is fine. Is there anything I can do for him to prevent this from getting worse?
Joint pain is pretty common for Hep C carriers. Is anyone using this supplement to reduce joint pain? Is it effective? Any counter indication?

The supplement Cystease is now being substituted at our vets for another preparation called Renalzin. Is this the same? Will it help my cat with his urinary problems. He has been on Cystease for over a year. How long should he take it?

Seven years old doesn't sound all that old, but since not all breeds have the same life expectancy it depends on the breed whether or not the dog is actually a senior dog at this point. Senior dogs are prone to all sorts of ailments, just like senior people.
