glucosamine

1388999 tn?1370042814 MSM is methylsulfonylmethane! Probably why it goes by msm lol! You can get it at drugstores in the supplement section, or in better pet shops. The human grade is the cheapest. You can give as a capsule or just dump it on the food. Hope it helps!
694961 tn?1228732588 vitamin c in large doses (buffered kind), msm, hyaluronic acid, and the combo of magnesium and B-1 (thiamin) can help relax muscles in the back, a little known but often effective avenue to try. i had one major success with that in someone with DDD. green-lipped mussel and all that shark cartilage is often the raw materials for glucosamine and is nothing special in my own opinion, but if it works use it.
Avatar n tn m taking Ameriden Olive Leaf Extract - 6 caps a day, I was instructed to take only this brand. Plus Glucosamine 1500mg 3 X a day and hyaluronic acid (cushions joint) 100mg 3X a day. It'a lot of pills but would rather do that than take drugs with bad side-effects (had really bad reaction to Celebrex). You can go to the website Arthritis Help For Me ******* for more info. I am trying to follow an alkaline pH diet as much as poss - but it's not easy, do drink alkaline water tho'.
Avatar n tn You should also ask your vet about proper dosages of over-the-counter glucosamine, chondroiting and/or MSM. You can find these supplements already mixed together at your pet store, but it tends to be a lot cheaper to buy them at a human pharmacy. These supplements are a very effective preventive at keeping your dog's joints in good shape for a longer period of time than if you didn't use them, and will hopefully keep a possible hip surgery from being necessary.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I looked up the Lysine which seems to be for feline herpes which isn't the issue today. I did find conflicting suggestions"never give your cat aspirin"/ "give your cat tiny amts of aspirin for arthritis pain relief" THAT'S a big dang help. I'll go w/no aspirin. I did find a rec. for 500 mg daily of glucosamine and chondroitin-they said to give w/food to prevent vomiting & diarrhea. Has anyone tried this?
Avatar n tn I have heard many different things about glucosamine for dogs . That is is okay for your dogs, and also that it isn't. There can be many benefits to providing supplements for your dog. It can help them remain healthy and with that even happier. No one likes to deal with a grumpy dog. Can you tell me where I could find more information about glucosamine for dogs though?
Avatar f tn The only thing I have been able to do to keep the inflamation down is applying a lotion that contains Glucosamine, MSM and Arnica made by NOW. It took a few weeks before I noticed a big difference. The reason being these ingredients take time to build up in your system and because they actually heal the areas to some degree it takes longer. I also have to watch my diet and stay clear of foods that I am allergic to that can cause inflamation.
1356964 tn?1302087435 I order these particular ones NOW brand from iherb b/c they are safe for cats...no added salt, sugar, starch, yeast, soy, shellfish or preservatives. the MSM I used 1/2 a capsule mixed with water and given via dropper once a day for a week than cut that into 1/4 for maintenance http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Glucosamine-MSM-Vegetarian-240-Vcaps/16566 and the Slipperry Elm Bark, excellent for coating mucosa too...also in cases of diarrhea/constipation/upset tummy/bladder/bowel...
Avatar f tn Yes I am currently giving her 750 mg glucosamine + 600 mg chondroitin + 500 mg MSM, but it still doesn't seem to help. I am going to look into the adequan injections. Thank You so much!
Avatar f tn Do you take any supplements such at Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM? They work great for me. As long as I take them every single day. My bones/joints would get so back I could barely walk, and I could tell if it was going to rain anytime soon because they would hurt even more! The Glucosamine really helped! Also a good calcium supplement. If these thinks don't help over a few week period I'd talk to your Primary Dr. about other possibilities. Good luck, I hope this helped!
Avatar n tn Glucosamine is fine for dogs. There are many formulas made specifically for dogs but its often cheaper to buy the human ones. MSM is a natural anti-inflammatory that is safe and may help too. Some of the dog powders/treats etc include MSM w/the glucosamine & chondroitin or you can get it separately.
Avatar m tn glucosamine, with vitamin c as the two work best together, and hyaluronic acid. some do get better results from chondroitin but it is not necessary, or shark cartilage. fish/flax oil will lube 'em up for you also. froobar, C.N.

572823 tn?1217209089 He mentioned MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) as a favorable treatment for auto-immune diseases that helps control inflammation. Anyone heard of it?
Avatar m tn hi have a 14 yr patterdale/lakeland her joints are stiff and shaky i have been giving her adult glucosamine sulphate for a few months now but doesnt seem to be getting any better or worse should i increase the dose
Avatar m tn s fish oil with enhanced DHA and EPA (15 grams daily), megadose vitamin E, and megadose glucosamine+chondroitin+MSM daily for anti inflammatory effects for my joint and tendon problems. I am looking to treat trauma of the brachial tendon to treat pain during bicep workouts by using a glucosamine cream. I have heard anecdotally that the cream format increases bio-availability by a staggering amount and that the oral supplement is essentially a snake oil product.
1110049 tn?1409402144 Glucosamine when taken for a minimum of 3 months as indicated should work well. I have studies that show it works better than most drugs. If you want to read them, I will look for them. My wife takes a combination supplement of MSM, chondroitin and glucosamine and has found it to be very effective. Apple cider vinegar, organic and unfiltered, has proven to be a great remedy for arthritis, as it improves PH balance-more alkaline- and increases digestive function.
765775 tn?1366024691 I have tried the MSM, Glucosamine, and Chondroitan combination also, but for some reason when I take that I get an itchy rash. My dogs get that suppliment everyday and it works wonders for them. I am having more surgery again on Wednesday and was hoping to try something like SAMe that is supposed to have all of these benefits rather than be put on additional medication for inflamation. Thanks again for your reply.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have always been physically active and have never been overweight. There is no arthritis in my family and feel that for most of my life have eaten properly. I have arthritis in my hip.
Avatar f tn s seen decent results w the loose skin under your arms.you might also want to supplement with Glucosamine, chondroitin (sp?) and MSM good for joint fluid and connective tissue. Make sure u get your supplements from a good source though wherever u choose to get them. The grocery store and drug store supplements are full of preservatives and not derived from the best sources and hence are a waste of money since your body won't assimilate them. Read about Dr Francis and his story.
1110049 tn?1409402144 A recent longitudinal study found no benefit over placebo in glucosamine and chondrotin for improving painful knee joints. Sorry, but I'm not a big fan of supplements unless the science proves its efficacy.
1295500 tn?1272459927 Hi, my questions is I have a 9 year old collie, Sheppard, husky mix dog she's probably about 90 lbs now. She seems to be having a lot of problem with her back legs. Some days she seems fine and other days she can barely get up off the floor and when she does her back legs shake. Right now what's happening is she is holding one of her legs up and walking on three legs.
Avatar n tn I just bought Osteo Bi-Flex with 5-Loxin advanced (Glucosamine, Chrondroitin, MSM, AKBA complex) at Walmart for my dogs. One dog weighs about 120lbs, and the other weighs about 65lbs. I need direction in knowing how many caplets to give to each of them daily. Very grateful.
Avatar f tn For cats with FLUTD, we have found that a couple natural cat vitamin supplements with glucosamine, MSM, cranberry extract, etc have proven quite helpful to eliminate recurrences of lower urinary tract infections in cats like yours. Should you want to follow up on this, it would be my pleasure. With respect to your cats food, home made diets are excellent, provide real, honest nutrients and are quite easy to prepare and very cost effective.
Avatar n tn t have rheumatoid arthritis. At any rate, there are so many remedies for joint inflammation -- MSM, chondroiton and glucosamine sulfate, proteolytic enzymes such as bromelain, quercitin, vitamin C, ginger, turmeric, boswellia, devil's claw, yucca -- I mean, the list is very long. Perhaps the best thing is to buy a good book on natural treatment of this problem since there are so many combinations of options to choose from.
