Glucosamine for back pain

Common Questions and Answers about Glucosamine for back pain

glucosamine

Avatar n tn I have heard many different things about glucosamine for dogs . That is is okay for your dogs, and also that it isn't. There can be many benefits to providing supplements for your dog. It can help them remain healthy and with that even happier. No one likes to deal with a grumpy dog. Can you tell me where I could find more information about glucosamine for dogs though?
1295500 tn?1272459927 Hi, my questions is I have a 9 year old collie, Sheppard, husky mix dog she's probably about 90 lbs now. She seems to be having a lot of problem with her back legs. Some days she seems fine and other days she can barely get up off the floor and when she does her back legs shake. Right now what's happening is she is holding one of her legs up and walking on three legs.
694961 tn?1228732588 I am also faced with the twin dilemmas of constant pain and/or surgery. I was wondering if anyone knows of a dietary supplement that will help regenerate, or at least halt or slow down the degeneration of these discs. I have started taking glucosamine and green-lipped mussel extract, as well as fish oil.
Avatar f tn I read somewhere that blackstrap molasses works wonders for arthritis pain in dogs. I also heard of extra virgin coconut oil and apple cider vinegar. I am really tempted to mix all these and give it a try. Has anyone tried these? or are there any other natural remedies? My dog has been on metacam but it doesn't work very well, I can tell she is still in pain. My dad keeps telling us to just put her to sleep so she can rest and not be in pain anymore.
Avatar n tn I do see a difference if I stop taking it. I have not had any back pain, but I am having pain down the front of my leg and cannot lift it or the pain goes into my groin. Everyone is telling me that its from my back being unaligned, even if it does not hurt. It is expensive, and its up to you if you want to try it.
Avatar f tn This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
Avatar f tn Do you take any supplements such at Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM? They work great for me. As long as I take them every single day. My bones/joints would get so back I could barely walk, and I could tell if it was going to rain anytime soon because they would hurt even more! The Glucosamine really helped! Also a good calcium supplement. If these thinks don't help over a few week period I'd talk to your Primary Dr. about other possibilities. Good luck, I hope this helped!
Avatar m tn I read your response with interest. I still do strength training, and I am NOT interested in being able to lift more weight on subsequent trips to the gym (wouldn't want to show up respirate - JK!!!). In your opinion, I would guess, this "stuff" (scientific, similar to "crud") is better than gllucosamine chondroitin for the arthritis in my knee?
Avatar f tn I hope it does as much for your knees as mine which have been pain free for over a decade since I started taking them It took about 3 months but I went from constant pain to no pain.
Avatar n tn I would rather put a pill in some meat or something. It is much easier for her to take. I put her back on a food with glucosamine and she isnt having any problems. I learned my lesson about changing foods. My vet said it was ok to get human vitamins for them. He also said it was ok to feed food with glucosamine plus the vitamins.
Avatar f tn He may not have the enzymes to utilize the Glucosamine like he did before the gastric tube. Glucosamine Hcl is cheaper and it is harder for the body to utilize than the higher quality Glucosamine sulfate. With that being said, Glucosamine sulfate is commonly use in people who have GI problems because it helps to protect the mucus membranes and heal injuried tissue. It is a very important supplement in IBS, Chrones disease, ulcers etc., I feel really bad for you and your dad.
Avatar m tn have had physical therapy for disc but that only helped with the back pain and is mostly tolerable now. had cortisone shots that didnt help at all.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your advice. I will look into the glucosamine etc and give it a try also.
1110049 tn?1409402144 Glucosamine is commonly taken in combination with chondroitin, a glycosaminoglycan derived from articular cartilage. Use of complementary therapies, including glucosamine, is common in patients with osteoarthritis, and may allow for reduced doses of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents.
18070169 tn?1463175914 I have the beginnings of arthritis, but have been on glucosamine and that has alleviated a lot of pain, but since being on Zoloft, the pain has increased and I have had back pain. Just trying to see if others have had that being on Zoloft, or is it from my partial hysterectomy?
Avatar n tn I have taken Glucosamine and chondroitin for joint pain and things seem to have improved overnight
Avatar n tn Even when I walk or kneel, their is a mild pain. And for some time, even in my left femoral bone area there is a local pain in front of my leg. Thank you very much for your reply, it will help me a lot. i'm female, petite, no Vice.
Avatar f tn no other problem I go for check up regularly no any other problem every thing is good only pain in Knees also MRI done no problem found pain in knees and muscle pain in legs it's really hard to bend over.
Avatar m tn s fish oil with enhanced DHA and EPA (15 grams daily), megadose vitamin E, and megadose glucosamine+chondroitin+MSM daily for anti inflammatory effects for my joint and tendon problems. I am looking to treat trauma of the brachial tendon to treat pain during bicep workouts by using a glucosamine cream. I have heard anecdotally that the cream format increases bio-availability by a staggering amount and that the oral supplement is essentially a snake oil product.
Avatar n tn This time I got the thigh pain back for sitting for hours doing computer work on a chair with hard wood seat. Again the pain would migrate later in the morning from thigh to my shinbone area. I took the same amount of Glucosamine Chondroytin as in 2006 but it doesn't help this time. In late fall I planted some trees/bushes. Ever since the pain in the thigh intensifies every morning when I wake up. As I move around, this pain would 'migrate' to the old shinbone area.
