glucosamine and back pain

Some days she seems fine and other days she can barely get up off the floor and when she does her back legs shake. Right now what's happening is she is holding one of her legs up and walking on three legs. I was told to give her glucosamine sulfate 500mg for her joints and I was for about three months and it really doesn't seem to working, so I stopped giving them to her.....Any Ideas what it could be??

I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. I have used this type of soft contacts for a long time but never experienced this problem. Thanks.

I am 52 years old and I have had chronic pain in BOTh my hands and wrists extending up the forearm for 2 years. I have seen physios, reumatolgists, hand specialists, you name it, I have been there. I have had physio, acupuncture, hand therapy, a carpel tunnel release on my left hand (hopeless) and recently a right side rib ressection. I have had xrays, bloods, bone scans, vascular studies, and MRI to my thoracic region and this week an MRI on the top part of my neck.

In 2006 I took Glucosamine Chondroytin and the pain seemed to disappear, only to come back in May this year, 2008. This time I got the thigh pain back for sitting for hours doing computer work on a chair with hard wood seat. Again the pain would migrate later in the morning from thigh to my shinbone area. I took the same amount of Glucosamine Chondroytin as in 2006 but it doesn't help this time. In late fall I planted some trees/bushes.

I have the beginnings of arthritis, but have been on glucosamine and that has alleviated a lot of pain, but since being on Zoloft, the pain has increased and I have had back pain. Just trying to see if others have had that being on Zoloft, or is it from my partial hysterectomy?

ive been giving my dog which is 17kg 1000mg of glucosamine every day for a week which i will now reduce to 500mg a day is there any thing else i should give him with this or is glucosamine alone ok my dog has early signs of arthritis in his back legs its a bit of an effort for him to get up now he is 10 yrs 3mths old and had cruciate ligament surgery back in may last yr and in the other leg about 5 to 6 yrs ago

ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.

Im hoping its all related to my back. I will definately try the glucosamine.

If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame. Since you didn’t ask about the latter I’ll stick to glucosamine by itself. If you search the Internet you’ll see inconclusive evidence of glucosamine having negative effects on blood sugar.

I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something. It is much easier for her to take. I put her back on a food with glucosamine and she isnt having any problems. I learned my lesson about changing foods.

have had physical therapy for disc but that only helped with the back pain and is mostly tolerable now. had cortisone shots that didnt help at all.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My huge issue is being dizzy. I am tired, dizzy and in pain. Like I said earlier, my labs all came back normal with relation to the dizziness issue. Do not know of any other options.

There are still ppl that take glucosamine and chondroitin, alone or together, for osteoarthritis. Some people believe this helps. But an analysis of studies looking at glucosamine or chondroitin for osteoarthritis in the hip or knee did not show that these supplements slow joint destruction or relieve pain. It's kind of gone by the wayside.

The same for my knees. I can almost tell when it's going to rain. The back pain starts as soon as I get up in the morning. After I have taken a muscle relaxer it is still there but only slightly. I do not want to become dependent on pill. I have hepc and cirrosis of the liver.

I have also been told that glucosamine (Joint supplements) is not good for your eyes and could elevate pressure. How true is that?

the name of the medicine is Conart which contain crystalline glucosamine sulphate. antibiotics and pain killers. at the same time, thr doc ask him to loose some weight. my question is which type of diet plan should i provide him as he need a lot of energy while he is working. any suppliment food / medicine / oil / etc to decrease the knee and heel pain? he always wear leater sandals to work. thank you.
