ive been giving my dog which is 17kg 1000mg of glucosamine every day for a week which i will now reduce to 500mg a day is there any thing else i should give him with this or is glucosamine alone ok my dog has early signs of arthritis in his back legs its a bit of an effort for him to get up now he is 10 yrs 3mths old and had cruciate ligament surgery back in may last yr and in the other leg about 5 to 6 yrs ago

My child's daycare have been taught that smoking kills people etc.. so move away from people if they're smoking. A lot of parents from the daycare have come in abusing the child care Centre as they're smokers and there young children keep telling them they're going to die.
Unless you are, or these people writing these articles are a Dr or a nurse, certified and licensed neither you or the people wrighting the articles absolutely know the risks and benefits. The Dr would not give you anything or make you have any teats that they knew would do more harm then good. If the benefits greatly outweigh the risks then they preform these. But if the risks outweigh the benefits they won't risk it.

I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. My dog weighed 28-30lbs and the correct dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine per day. The vet said the 'human' Glucosamine was fine to use, so long as the dosage was correct for the dog's weight.
So it depends what your dog's weight is, how much you can increase the dose.
As far as I can make out, dogs (and humans too) respond differently to Glucosamine. With some there are great results, and with some, not much improvement.
You could mention this to your vet perhaps.
My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? I have always fed them a really good food with the added glucosamine. I just recently changed foods to one without glucosamine. My lab started limping really bad. I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something.

Labrador retrievers are one of the breeds that are known to have adverse reactions to rimadyl, and sometimes the benefits just do not outweigh the risks in something like this. What you CAN do is to start giving him a glucosamine and chondroitin supplement. These have been proven to be of great help to arthritic dogs with an occasional dose of enteric coated aspirin to help them over the rough spots.

I'm afraid I don't have any experience with cod liver oil, so I can't comment on the benefits or risks/dangers it might have. As with any supplement or medication, I would definitely check with your doctor or pharmacist before trying it to make sure it won't interact with any medication you're on or medical condition you may have. Remember - just because it's a "natural" supplement, doesn't necessarily mean that it's safe or good for you.
t going to cause such drastric issues besides I think we all understand the benefits of this test outweigh the risks. I am a child of a momma who had gestational diabetes while pregnant with me. I was born much bigger than I should have been at 10lbs 12oz & my mom never recovered from diabetes. She has been insulin dependant (type 1) for 34 years now. She was placed on insulin when I was just a year old.

I personally think it is absolutely worth trying to have a vaginal birth. There are certain benefits that baby only gets by being born naturally. Csection are also a very serious procedure, it is an intense abdominal surgery where they are cutting threw your skin, muscles and an organ. There can see serious complications with csection, and in my honest opinion should only be used for medical reasons.
