Hi, I don't really know the answer but if you are getting reduced white-blood-cell counts, then I'd especially want to avoid any food with possible bacteria.

Also, since a few patients get heart damage, I'd look into possibly using melatonin and Co-Q10 (OTC supplements) to try and prevent that. I'm not a big fan of alternative treatments for cancer, but I think that a few things do have value.
I have CML and was treated with Gleevec for 4 years and achieved remission. I have for the past several months been experiencing sudden onset of weakness which last for hours, to days. My blood pressure which has remained under control for several years with atenolol has been running 145/105 and higher for the past three to four months. I have a feeling of fullness in my stomach, and I have sporatic episodes of mild coughing, this occurs maybe once a week.
Hi, I don't know the answer -- but since both CML and Gleevec toxicity produce anemia because of marrow suppression, maybe it's not possible to tell the difference. E.g., both would show a low reticulocyte count.
This full text paper on anemia from Gleevec https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ajh.23879 shows that other signs such as red blood cell size can vary, so that doesn't seem to help. Sorry.
Is it possible that after taking gleevec for only two weeks WBC droped from 36.7 to 7? All other blood counts are also came back to normal range. Could doctor make mistake in diagnosis of CML? Maybe I should get seg second opinion?
I was diagnosed with CML and given Gleevec 400 ml. After taking gleevec for 2 weeks doctor took additional blood test. My WBC dropped from 36.5 to 7.1 and all other blood counts came down to normal range. I'm wondering if gleevec could give such fast hematological response or I was possibly misdiagnosed originally. I don't and didn't have any symptoms, my spleen and liver weren't enlarged, no enlarged lymph. Should I get second opinion asap? Please, help me.
After two weeks on 400mlg gleevec my WBC droped from 36.5 to 7.1. My doctor told to come for additional test in two weeks. Now my WBC is 1.3 and absolute neutrophils count is 0.04. I was told to stay home on antibiotics. How long it may take for my counts to clime back to safe range. And of course, I'm off gleevec right now. Does it seem that dose of 400mlg is too high for me.
i was diagnosed with cml in march of 2009 and was also taking 150mg of elavil at bedtime to control migraines for like 10 years. then this past dec. a heart test showed i had prolonged qt of the heart so i was stopped 'cold turkey' by a dr and its been down hill ever since. i have had the shakes, loss of appetite and constant nausea. i wake up evey morning shaky really bad.
Am on Gleevec 400mg, now having problems with blisters on the palm. What can I do about it?
I was diagnosed last year and was immediatley put on gleevec 400mg/day.At my last consult my metabolic stats had risen,hence blood tests to determine if the gleevec is no longer working.I am still in firstphase and wonder what my options are if the gleevec is no longer an option.Amin pretty good form,just very tired and a lot of bone pain.
You might find he starts to be able to tolerate the pill. Gleevec is first choice for treating CML, and if he is doing good in every other way then encourage him that he is doing great.

My brother just had a heart attack that damaged 1/3 of his heart. The doctor has placed two stents into his artery. My husband and I are arguing over whether or not the muscle can repair itself. I thought it could after a few weeks but due to the scar tissue the function was not the same. Is this correct?
m going to surgeon on Tuesday for a small lesion, (PS my mom has breast cancer, dad died of lung cancer and cornery heart disease - he had a heart attack and died 3 months later, shortly after lung surgery). My left arm pit hurts every day. One other thing that may be nothing is the occassional sharp pain head aches also starting around the same time the other symtoms started. I feel like this is a case for Dr. House.
i don't know what the diagnosis is for your heart problems, but i do have a remedy for heart health that is supposed to be highly preventitive for any clogged arteries by removing it.

swelling in your feet/ankles is usually heart related...which chronic narcotic use is not easy on the heart either...selling or bloating in the abdominal region is usually indicative of liver problems...i would get my enzymes checked with a blood tst..i did after i quit and was relieved..it is amazing what the liver can tolerate...drinking on top of the tylenol is even harder on the liver..
i have damage to my heart from heart attacks w/o treatment, because i thought it was heartburn. now after 9 stents and 2 others needin cleaned out i,m wondering if there's any way to reverse the damage and prevent anymore attacks and stents. my last was placed 5 wks ago and been sick for last 3 wks. plus chest, neck, arm and stomach pains.
There is no genetic basis for the CML therefore she was not put on Gleevec. She is on Hydrea to keep the wbc count down to a more normal level. I think the only thing that led to the CML diagnosis was the extremely high wbc with no sign of infection or other cancer. Mayo did the same blood tests as the hometown doctor, as well as the lab in Iowa City. I would like them to run other tests but havent a clue what to ask for.
If the 30% refers to Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction, then the figure would imply some damage and it would not be wise to expect the same capacities as someone without damage.
For example I am into 5+ years of diagnosed Heart Failure with a LVEF of 10%, able to still enjoy life but not an awful lot else! But at 72 it is still good to be here!
