Hi, I don't really know the answer but if you are getting reduced white-blood-cell counts, then I'd especially want to avoid any food with possible bacteria.

Also, since a few patients get heart damage, I'd look into possibly using melatonin and Co-Q10 (OTC supplements) to try and prevent that. I'm not a big fan of alternative treatments for cancer, but I think that a few things do have value.
I have CML and was treated with Gleevec for 4 years and achieved remission. I have for the past several months been experiencing sudden onset of weakness which last for hours, to days. My blood pressure which has remained under control for several years with atenolol has been running 145/105 and higher for the past three to four months. I have a feeling of fullness in my stomach, and I have sporatic episodes of mild coughing, this occurs maybe once a week.
Hi, I don't know the answer -- but since both CML and Gleevec toxicity produce anemia because of marrow suppression, maybe it's not possible to tell the difference. E.g., both would show a low reticulocyte count.
This full text paper on anemia from Gleevec https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ajh.23879 shows that other signs such as red blood cell size can vary, so that doesn't seem to help. Sorry.
I was diagnosed with CML and given Gleevec 400 ml. After taking gleevec for 2 weeks doctor took additional blood test. My WBC dropped from 36.5 to 7.1 and all other blood counts came down to normal range. I'm wondering if gleevec could give such fast hematological response or I was possibly misdiagnosed originally. I don't and didn't have any symptoms, my spleen and liver weren't enlarged, no enlarged lymph. Should I get second opinion asap? Please, help me.
t want to see me, that fever was not from gleevec, and that I needed to monitor myself by myself by simply taken ibuprofen. This is what I did all last week and only this Monday he did a blood work.

If a person had a *very* severe long QT, they might be given intravenous calcium to counteract that. That's because Calcium is an excitatory chemical. And guess what? Gleevec can cause low levels of calcium. So maybe both drugs together resulted in your problem with the long QT.
The offshoot is that if you ever were to go back on a higher dose of Elavil, you might want to make sure you get enough calcium. But that would only be with a doc's say so, of course.
I was diagnosed last year and was immediatley put on gleevec 400mg/day.At my last consult my metabolic stats had risen,hence blood tests to determine if the gleevec is no longer working.I am still in firstphase and wonder what my options are if the gleevec is no longer an option.Amin pretty good form,just very tired and a lot of bone pain.
She had an abcess in her gums/jaw bone that went undiagnosed for more than a year but that was 4 years ago and I wondered if that led to infection around the heart which I read could happen, but I assume they would have checked for that. If you had a case like this that you ruled out everything but CML and called her a one in a million case that is atypical, what would you have checked for before giving it the atypical ruling? I could then ask if those things were checked for.
I am a Leukemia Survivor also. What type of Leukemia did you have, and what was your treatment. I have CML, and have achieved a major molecular response through a oral chemo drug called Gleevec.
It does not sound like these patches have anything to do with the Leukemia. I would see a Dermatologist to have them evaluated. I hope that helps you a little bit.
I was diagnosed w/CMML in 2009 and did 6mos of Vidaza. Monocyte levels keep rising and are now at 28%. 54 yr old male. My drs. just keep telling me to watch and wait, but I don't feel comfortable doing that, especially since I am fighting a recurrent staph infection that keeps returning every month.
I have been having problems with my heart rate and beat. It goes very fast and then goes very slow. I have a lot of irregular beats and now my cardiologist wants me to do an ablation but I am convinced that something else is causing this. I have just gotten my thyroid levels checked and they are fine. So should I get my adrenal glands checked? I really know that all my symptoms are not from my heart.

i went to doc and he took ECG and said that there is small change in one lead and that is due to anxiety or MVP
After that I used to be tensed all the time regarding my heart and that cause me pain like feeling (not exactly pain ) and my confidence is getting low.
