Avatar f tn that's a figure of speech), cause loss of memory, headaches, and loss of libido. I think there are many alternatives to be considered before using Gabapentin, such as a frontal lobotomy. If you don't mind going through the day with the mental capacity of a goldfish, eat them like candy. Other than that, how did you like the show Mister Lincoln?
Avatar f tn I am a bit worried about taking Gabapentin.....if it starts to work, and I think it might be.....(which is awesome for the day to day life), but when you're not in pain, you can forget that something is wrong! Im worried that I won't push for an answer as hard and/or something will get missed! I don't want to take this band-aid treatment for the rests of my life.....I want to get better!
Avatar m tn I've tried both Neurontin and Lyrica in the past for nerve pain. (I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 10 years ago. I haven't been having problems with that, probably due to all the medications I'm on for my hand.) Both of these medications are serious medicines. You have to taper off Neurontin or you can have seizures. Neurontin worked for me for pain, but it made me really out of it. I thought that would pass but it didn't. I had trouble word finding.
18432675 tn?1464836493 3 times a day, I noticed Severe Short Term Memory Loss. Spacial Memory Loss. Horrible!! I was leaving my keys in department stores. I forget Everything!! I feel like a Different Person. 50% of people say "It's the medication" It does say "Common Side Effects of gabapentin, temporary loss of memory, (amnesia), difficulty with speaking" I cannot think of certain words when speaking... Frustrating as heck!! I Never Had Any memory problems before this.

Avatar f tn I've had headaches, eye pain and facial pain for some time now which was diagnosed as migraine, cluster headache and now trigeminal neuralgia. I am taking Gabapentin for this pain and it does work and relieves the pain until it wears off. Apart from the above, I get tingling in my cheek and sometimes temporary numbness and odd sensations spreading over my cheek.
Avatar f tn 99 at Ikea, good deal!) so I hopped on it and I have lost over 20lbs. I was never trying to lose weight and this loss has come upon in the last 6 months. I'm not excercising any more then before can the tramadol just do that? Is it from being up all night? Is this a really bad sign or normal?
Avatar n tn The tingling in fingers, the mood swings, the stomach issues, and yes the weight loss and FATIGUE. I am only on 50 mg, and will not take more. I am surprised that so many people want to use this drug as a weight loss product. This is not a weight loss product, it is a serious drug, with serious side effects that you have to live with for the rest of your life. If I did not have to take it, I would not.
Avatar n tn The doctor told him it was a mild side effect but not to worry. His memory worsened and he went off of it. He never got his short term memory back and continued to get worse. He now has full blown alheimerz. It didn't run in his family and before taking it he was as sharp as a man half his age. We blame this medicine, but you can't prove the medicine caused his condition legally, nor can we reverse it. Please reconsider taking this if there are alternatives.
Avatar f tn I do know I get totally stressed out by him, his actions, his words and his behavior. I am choosing to put up with all of it and I don't know why? I don't think I need all these meds and I am certain now that something is terribley wrong. Physically or mentally, I don't know. I have a lot of symptoms and therefore I get catagorized in the mental state. I have been fine for over a year with no episodes and now out of the blue I have another.
Avatar m tn Eventually I gradually started to get regular headaches again and I experienced a fairly severe memory loss issue which has not resolved yet. I was taken off the Topomax (this was about 5 years ago, I don't remember the replacement med) I'm currently on Fentanyl trying to break the cycle of pain. I have another series of MRI's both head and neck booked for the beginning of April to check again if there is something wrong.

Avatar f tn a silent epidemic with serious consequences - by Chris Kresser Just to clarify, the B12 reference range goes up to 900pg/mL or 1100pg/mL depending on the lab. I hope you don't have permanent nerve damage however B12 serum at 225pg/mL it is very possible. Have you had your B12 levels retested yet to see if your B12 serum levels are improving?

756505 tn?1233861297 Nothing turned up dispite my dibilitated condition I layed on the couch most of the days unable to perform even simple task without much work and much pain. I hurt everywhere, was stiff and hobbled around, my memory was aweful, I would sometimes feel faint, vision would zoom in and out and also had strange side to side wobbling vertigo sensation. Basically too many symptoms to even recount. I have gotten better over the few years but still ill and a struggle to achieve all that I'd like to do.
Avatar m tn Multiplanar and multiple spin-echo T1- and T2-weighted images were performed through the brain. Postcontrast images and diffusion-weighted images were also obtained. Findings: There is no restricted diffusion to suggest an acute infarct. There are a few foci of abnormal high signal in the subcortical white matter, predominantly of the frontal lobe. A total of eight foci are present. There is no signal abnormality of the deep white matter of the brain.
Avatar f tn For the record, (and against all advice), I quit (tapered very slowly off) Prednisone, stopped the Methotrexate after taking for 7 weeks, stopped Gabapentin, Valium, Oxycodone and Percocett. I am going to a Naturopathic Doctor, who is also an Orthomolecular Nutritionist, a Darkfield Microscopist and acupuncturist. I am no longer on the meds (which caused more problems than the disease), and physically I feel so much better.
Avatar f tn Of course the dizziness ranks right up these, but that seems to come and go, but the word searching and memory loss seem ever present. Just commenting, nothing really to add in the way of help.
198419 tn?1360245956 ok here is my bit waiting for the official dx at the moment disease managment nothing till dx symptom management baclofen for stiffness and spacticity gabapentin for pain and clonus and naproxen occaisionaly lifestyle try to keep moving and keep occupied now had to finish work regards bairdy
Avatar f tn But I had also been shoving gabapentin and prozac in my mouth ALL day everyday....BAD DEAL....stupid...of course, but in the drugged, scared mind set I had....I wasn't sure I could get off the hydrocodone and in my panic mode, I was overdosing on the proazac and gabapentin. (not taking as prescribed...imagine that? lol) So...all that to tell you....my vision was majorly affected and it gradually healed....over time. Each medication we are on CAN affect our vision....I know for sure.....
Avatar f tn I am on meds and as soon as I was diagnoist with syringomyelia my doc put me and Gabapentin and Baclophen and the weird nerve symptoms went almost away but the pain is still here. I get cold spots on my legs. If I lift almost anything my legs feel like I ran up a flight of stairs. I have chest like pain and tightness. I have pain on my left heel and pain on my right foot right beneath my toes on the bottom of the my foot.
Avatar n tn and this is all bc of too much pain. so ... the neuropathic pain medications ive tried. tegratol, amytriptaline, gabapentin... and now in combination with gabapentin (neurontin brand is best) epilim. All of these will make you drowsy, less focused, give you memory loss... etc.. but the best ive found is neurontin. I take about 2400mg a day. In the UK i think 1800mg is the limit. but in Australia we dont have these limits. So these are some of the neuropathic medications. that you can try.
Avatar n tn brain fog, short term and long term memory loss, depression etc are also seen. Treatment is only limited and directed to symptomatic relief. Anti seizure drugs like gabapentin, pregabalin, dopamine agonists like pramipexole, ropinirole, and cyclobenzaprine can be used to relieve skeletal muscle spasms. Consult your neurologist for evaluation of symptoms and appropriate therapy. Hope this helps. Take care.
147426 tn?1317269232 My latest symptom is memory loss, cognitive......I gave up on doctors, they seem to think I am a Hypochondriac or something.
Avatar f tn The drugs we take depend on the symptoms we have. For example, I take a combination of gabapentin (an anticonvulsant) and amitriptilyne (an antidepressant) to trea neuropathic foot pain. To treat MS itself many of us take Disease Modifying Drug (DMD). These include Avonex, Copaxone, Betaseron, Rebif and in my case Tysabri. There are also new drugs starting to pop up like Aubagio and BG12.
Avatar f tn My symptoms include stabbing, burning, tearing pains throughout my body, dizziness, fatigue, headaches, numbness, clonus, heat sensitivity, short term memory issues, balance problems, blurred vision in one eye or the other along with stabbing pain, foot drop, muscle twitching and painful spasms and electric shock sensations in my arms and legs. I have stage 3 CKD and my A1c is 6.9. I have also recently been diagnosed with PAD.
