Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
572651 tn?1530999357 I was researching something and came across the Merck Manual online again.... this comprehensive medical manual for professionals have explanations for just about everything you can think of. The best part is the online version is free to access - the section on neurological patients begins here - take the spaces out of the address: www. merck. c o m/mmpe/sec16/ch206/ch206a.html Don't stay up too late reading!
Avatar m tn Depends on the machine and the user. It is most helpful to see if the astigmatism is symmetrical. I use IOL Ks (version 5 and above or a manual Keratomerter). Dr. O.
Avatar f tn As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista. Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful! This discussion is related to Bonista-side effects.
908504 tn?1269103899 He also wanted me to try the injections of Forteo but my Aunt had bone cancer in her hips so I am somewhat leary of that drug. Any info will be greatly appreciated as I am in really bad pain.
Avatar f tn Hi-- When you say Medicare, I assume it is Medicare Part D, administered by an insurance company like Blue Cross, etc? If so, you might be in for sticker shock. I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more.
Nicelady Medications themselves can be classified as antiresorptive or bone anabolic agents. Teriparatide (Forteo) is also approved for the treatment of postmenopausal women who have severe osteoporosis and are considered at high risk for fractures. The medicine is given through daily shots underneath the skin and you can give these shots even at home. Another advantage is that it can be given in patients who cannot tolerate oral biphosphonate drugs.

Avatar m tn That is the CDC's most recent training manual. So don't tell me or anyone else it's not correct. Anything that you've read where CDC states 6 months is outdated.

Avatar m tn Thanks for your feedback. My case has baffled most doctors. I drink alot of water, eat a healthy diet and don't smoke or drink. The only meds I take are for my bones (Forteo) as I found out that I had extreme osteoporosis in Nov. 2008. I have had my circualtion checked several times and it is reduced in my "weaker" foot. There is no blockages and I have no rare diseases.... My problem is only becoming worse and noone knows why....
10052319 tn?1408978714 I loved my medela manual! I had a double electric and a manual and I always got more milk with the manual :) so I'm not even bothering getting an electric one this time, just getting the manual again!
Avatar f tn Manual is pointless to me. I could hand express faster then the manual.
Avatar f tn Manual injection is a little hard to get used to. I used the autoject all the time I was on Copaxone. But I had to inject my blood clot medication by hand, and they didn't have an injector. It's really hard to stick the needle into your skin, but it's really not painful. (As long as you pick a fatty spot!) I used a cold pack, which kept the stinging down, but I think it also encouraged me to ignore the area.
