Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn I haven't tried the pen yet but I am hoping to soon. I did speak to someone at Bioden Idec about it about a week or two ago.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
1760800 tn?1406753451 Is anyone out there looking at using the new pen. My new neuro has prescribed it for me and I will start using it in July, And if I wasn't impressed enough with him at my appointment. We discussed the pen when I had my appt on May 9th. He called in a script for it for me on May 10th! Nice to know he is on the ball, listens to me and does things even without being asked! I am very fortunate to have found two good neuros. The first who dx'd me and the 2nd who is a MS specialist.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
739070 tn?1338603402 I'm a Copaxone user but I think I'd go back to manual injections of a known product before I'd count on the release of a new oral DMD to solve auto-inject problems. Bruising doesn't cause scarring or atrophy. Subcutaneous injections of DMDs result in more frequent site reactions because 1ml is the maximum volume subq tissue can handle in a single injection. Also, those medications are designed to be absorbed more slowly and remain in contact with the tissues longer.

572651 tn?1530999357 I was researching something and came across the Merck Manual online again.... this comprehensive medical manual for professionals have explanations for just about everything you can think of. The best part is the online version is free to access - the section on neurological patients begins here - take the spaces out of the address: www. merck. c o m/mmpe/sec16/ch206/ch206a.html Don't stay up too late reading!
Avatar m tn Depends on the machine and the user. It is most helpful to see if the astigmatism is symmetrical. I use IOL Ks (version 5 and above or a manual Keratomerter). Dr. O.
Avatar n tn The reason i am so anxcious is bc there was cocaine involved. I used a pen that had never been used before. When she was present I noticed what looked to be dried blood on the end of it when i took it from my nose. It was very little that I did and wouldn't think that it would cause my nose to bleed bc I am not a regular user of the drug. I am about 95% sure she wasn't using cocaine and didn't use the pen. i was out of her presence for about a minute or two at most.
1396846 tn?1332459510 I did opt for the pen, the first month it was manual injections and it was titrated 1/4 first shot 1/2 dose second shot 3/4 dose third shot and full dose from there out. Now the first month I had the manual injections and they went well. I didn't give them to myself though, that needle is huge lol. Of course I would if I had :) Started on the pen, and all I can say is Ouch!
Avatar f tn As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista. Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful! This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/1230787'>Bonista-side effects</a>.

908504 tn?1269103899 He also wanted me to try the injections of Forteo but my Aunt had bone cancer in her hips so I am somewhat leary of that drug. Any info will be greatly appreciated as I am in really bad pain.
Avatar f tn As far as baby bed goes, get a decent play pen. Lots of them have stations you can pop in and out for changing and sleeping. You might have to get a pricier one in the $200 range, but itll be worth it if it's a bed, changing table, and play pen all wrapped in one.
1396846 tn?1332459510 I know it sounds crazy that I like manual injections but I was having bad site reactions with the auto ject so I switched to manual and let me tell you there is not a reaction one as of yet. I get a little itching but no welt, no lump, no redness. I inject it a lot slower than the autoject so I am sure that is what is helping. It is suppose to go in over 10 seconds but with the autoject it goes in in 5 seconds or less and leaving welts as big as my arm.
Avatar f tn Hi-- When you say Medicare, I assume it is Medicare Part D, administered by an insurance company like Blue Cross, etc? If so, you might be in for sticker shock. I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more.
488198 tn?1493875092 An MSWorld user "zeldaz" lost her Avogrip, a plastic piece that clips to an Avonex syringe and makes it easier to handle. Apparently they are no longer available from Biogen. The draconian forum admins there deleted offers to send "zeldaz" a new, unopened one. If "zeldaz" sticks her nose in here, send me a PM.
Avatar f tn Hi Does anyone else get blisters forming around their injection sites? l have ben on copaxone since may, and l've tried both the auto inject pen and manual injecting, however whichever method l use causes my legs to blister and weep within hours of injecting. My arms have also now have the same problem. Has anyone got any suggestions. Thank you.
