Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar m tn I store it in the fridge all the time, but i let mine get to room temp before I inject, this makes it hurt less. it only takes about ten minutes usually to reach temp. I leave my cartridge in the pen until empty. Every time you do an injection you need to get the air out, it's easy if you hold the pen upright with the needle attached and dosage dialed just gently push the end until a tiny drop forms on the top.
Avatar n tn I love the pen. I am one of those that suffers from anxiety from stabbing myself with a needle. With the pen, I don't see the needle so I don't even hesitate. The needle is also much smaller.
Avatar n tn m a bit worried though because this evening (before I read about testing a few units first) when I took my lantus injection (which was a brand new pen fresh out of the refridgerator), there was no insulin on the tip of the needle though I felt the units clicking when I pushed down to inject. Does it seem as if I didn't really inject since there was no insulin drop on the needle? Or might this be the result of a fresh new pen coming of the fridge?
1150573 tn?1261964987 5 I put a needle on the top pull out the bottom of the pen until it will no longer pull any further then flick the top of the pen with my fingers gently to ensure there are no airbubbles then I push the end of the pen in again this should release a squirt of liquid out of the needle if it does not pull the end out again (still set on 37.5) and repeat.
775302 tn?1253100505 Hello everyone, hope this posts finds you all well. I was hoping someone might have a trick to make taking the humira injector pen any less painful. I'm actually hoping I can talk my doctor into letting me get it in vial form so I can fill my own syringe and take it the same as I do the methotrexate. But that pen, its a killer. I always let it warm up from the fridge first is this a mistake maybe? Does it just burn naturally or does the injector pen make it worse?
739070 tn?1338603402 I started using the injection pen since it came out. The past 6 months I have had a horrible time getting the pen to release. I actually had a batch(3 boxes) that worked. The following batches have been bad again. It has gotten to the point that I work up such anxiety that I can't do it and skip it. I called Avonex last time and they replaced the batch. The ones they sent me worked beautiful. Now I just received a new batch from my med provider and they are bad.
Avatar m tn Just stop taking the pills on day and the next day start injection with a pen? And does one injection from a pen = 500 mg? or how does one calculate the dosage? I am a newbie at this and a bit anxjous about switching over.

862235 tn?1336060295 I use the redipen delivery system. I have been getting terrible reactions to my injections since the beginning (9 weeks ago). Last Friday's injection was unusually stiff going in I really had to jam that button down, Now it's Tuesday and the terrible reaction I am accustomed to getting a few days later is due but not arriving. I'm wondering if I got my dose or if something went wrong. What do I do now? Just wait till next Friday and continue on?
Avatar f tn My blood sugar numbers have also improved pretty significantly. This morning I noticed a large red area around the injection site with some swelling. Is this common or should I be worried that I may be having a bad reaction to the medicine?
Avatar m tn She verified that before each injection I should roll the pen back and forth and up and down .. ten times each. [ I suspect that this is A VERY IMPORTANT STEP] !! Since I'm taking two injections back to back ,, it is not necessary to change needles, but I must do a test shot each time (2 units). It is perfectly normal for a big stream of insulin to shoot out during the test shot. I will now take a blood reading , and inject 10 minutes before eating , am and pm.
745313 tn?1323142298 ) He seems to be tolerating it very well after the initial Pegintron injection. The first one - WOW! He had horrible side effects beginning about 6 hours after the injection. The next week an oncology nurse friend of a friend suggested taking 2 X-strength Tylenol when he took the injection and taking it right before bed. He did - and slept through all of it. His WBC dropped in half the first blood test- so the doc is watching that, but his ALT and AST dropped dramatically. My question is this..
Avatar f tn Just got. Call to say the pegysis ready pen is on recall. Anyone else run into this problem?
Avatar f tn As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista. Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful! This discussion is related to Bonista-side effects.
