Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn Personally, I would not use the arms. The instructions show the injection sites as either the thighs or the abdomen. I think the reason is that the abdomen and the thighs have more fat on them and the arms often do not. Here is a site that tells you step by step how to inject interferon and shows you where to inject. Only the abdomen and thighs are shown. I empathize with you. I am beginning to run out of sites too.
Avatar f tn As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista. Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful! This discussion is related to Bonista-side effects.
Avatar m tn Normally your care provider would have provided you with instructions. Didn't instructional paperwork accompany the pen? Contact your care provider for the proper amount [units] designated for you. Then Google search "how to use novolog flex pen" [w/o the " " [quotes]], scroll down and click the link to [PDF] NovoLog Flex Pen. You'll need a .pdf reader to read it. If you don't have one, go to Adobe and download and install the free pdf file reader.
Avatar f tn With the heat and following her step by step instructions before the injection, I really cannot tell the difference... But I haven't tried to manually inject yet..let me know how that works for you, please.
908504 tn?1269103899 He also wanted me to try the injections of Forteo but my Aunt had bone cancer in her hips so I am somewhat leary of that drug. Any info will be greatly appreciated as I am in really bad pain.
Avatar f tn Hey so my injection site is extremely bruised and it worries me its almost a dark purple.. Has anyone expire mixed this? My other shots were unusual as well but I have sensitive skin but they were read and like the size of 2 quarters. Itchy and just a large lump.
1475492 tn?1332884167 It stuck the needle in but the medicine didnt go in and the yellow button doesn't show (meaning the medicine didn't inject.) I called Biojen but they are closed. I followed the instructions after ... now what?! I have two shots in my fridge. Will they instruct me to skip this week or take the shot tomorrow? Ugh. I take Avonex.
Avatar n tn When I was doing injections, I found a bunch of youtube videos that people posted on how to assemble and give yourself injections. Also, you can call the nurse at your dr's office for instructions. I can't believe they did not give you an injection lesson. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn Hi-- When you say Medicare, I assume it is Medicare Part D, administered by an insurance company like Blue Cross, etc? If so, you might be in for sticker shock. I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more.
Avatar f tn For almost 2 years, I have been, and continue to be, treated for Fibro, Osteoarthritis, Senile Osteoporosis (daily injection of Forteo), high blood pressure and low/none vitamin D, and periods of low white cells. Was checked for the usual, RA, Lupus etc. Nothing showed up. Previous health-worked fulltime around 50 hours a week or more, constantly going and doing, did many family dinners, active runner, won divisional 5k first place and masters and weight trained. BMI is around 20.
Nicelady Medications themselves can be classified as antiresorptive or bone anabolic agents. Teriparatide (Forteo) is also approved for the treatment of postmenopausal women who have severe osteoporosis and are considered at high risk for fractures. The medicine is given through daily shots underneath the skin and you can give these shots even at home. Another advantage is that it can be given in patients who cannot tolerate oral biphosphonate drugs.
Avatar f tn s comments and I got to yours, Jim and went and read the instructions online...when I read my own instructions, and I did read them, I only found the part on how to inject when you load from a vial. So after reading what you posted I went back and...well, I'm stupider even than before, because there was a little section for pre-loaded that I missed somehow and it's pretty step-by-step.
745313 tn?1323142298 ) He seems to be tolerating it very well after the initial Pegintron injection. The first one - WOW! He had horrible side effects beginning about 6 hours after the injection. The next week an oncology nurse friend of a friend suggested taking 2 X-strength Tylenol when he took the injection and taking it right before bed. He did - and slept through all of it. His WBC dropped in half the first blood test- so the doc is watching that, but his ALT and AST dropped dramatically. My question is this..
Avatar m tn This is called a subcutaneous injection. The best injection sites are the abdomen and the front or side of the thighs. Change the injection site each time you inject to avoid soreness at any one site. For best results, you should inject Neupogen at about the same time each day. How to inject Always follow the instructions of your doctor, pharmacist or nurse - they may be different from those below.
Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced any nasty bruises after their injection? I took my 12th shot on Thursday evening and noticed a light small briuse near the injection site this morning, and now the bruise has spread is very dark and purple (I do all of my injections on my stomach in fatty areas at least one inch from the navel). Is this bruising normal? My last platelet count was 29,000 but that was 3 weeks ago. I had labs done on Wednesday but I still have not heard from the doc regarding those results.
