I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista.
Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful!

Hi-- When you say Medicare, I assume it is Medicare Part D, administered by an insurance company like Blue Cross, etc? If so, you might be in for sticker shock. I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more.

It is very difficult to know anything based on what you posted.
First, lab ranges even for the different labs in the US differ so without ranges - have no idea if you are low, high or normal.
Second - no idea if you are sick or how you are sick. The tests run are not really run for adrenal except DHEA (and that is really more of an adrogen - e.g. it converts to testosterone and estrogen) so not sure why it belongs in this forum.

Medications themselves can be classified as antiresorptive or bone anabolic agents. Teriparatide (Forteo) is also approved for the treatment of postmenopausal women who have severe osteoporosis and are considered at high risk for fractures. The medicine is given through daily shots underneath the skin and you can give these shots even at home. Another advantage is that it can be given in patients who cannot tolerate oral biphosphonate drugs.
also my mom and I were really close before she passed so I feel I would love the feeling of that mother daughter bond.A boy growing up sounds a little easier to guide. I think about when I had my first boyfriend I was 15. My poor mom lol. Reality though a healthy baby is all I really want. And I'm really trying to make sure I can do everything for that to happen. Craving coffee and unhealthy food all lot though lol.
only people with a heavily damaged immune system, IV drug user, elderly and other people with disabilities would be prone to this. A young healthy adult individual (>40) would not take as long as six months and only in rare cases 3 months. Keep this in mind, and I hope you understand what I'm saying here.
You could buy rapid home HIV test kits online to see if you can detect the virus earlier, but it's your own choice.

t feel a stick in my finger to be honest, but the surgeon said sorry I should be more careful as the patient is IV drug User. After the surgery is finished, I removed my gloves and there was no blood spot on my finger or anything, I applied alcohol on my finger after washing it just to double check if it stings, but it didn't (Thanks God).
I haven't reported to the occupational health department as I'm not sure that I was really pricked. Should I do that today?
