I am a bisexual 60 y/o male, average weight for my height. Several years ago, I began having frequent/urgent urinations associated with enlarged prostate. My urologist prescribed Ditropan, which I took for about a year, which helped at first. Flomax was added the following year, which again worked for awhile, but the symptoms returned after 6 months or so. The Flomax caused retrograde ejaculation, which bothered me because in the past, I had always shot a fairly substantial load when I ***.
I usually find myself experiencing these episodes while having down time at home or for no other apparent reason. I currently take flomax .4mg (3 years) and just started 60 Mg of Propanol LA to try and control them but it does not seem to help. The increase in PVC's increases my anxiety level. Zoloft as well as xanax have also been suggested but I am really not willing to take anti anxiety meds at this time. I have had bouts of anxiety but I thought I was working through them (maybe not).
Flomax can reduce the amouht of seman that you produce. It would be unusual though to have this production reduced down to zero unless the man was ejaculating very often. In general terms Flomax is a useful medication with very few side-effects..

Thanks for writing in. Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms.
Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate.

He takes 5 mg blood pressure med and he takes Flomax daily. When he first started taking Flomax; which he needs to be able to urinate or as he says to keep his plumbing working, anyway, he would have dizzy spells. His doctor said this was normal, a side effect of Flomax. But now lately he has been passing out; I think that is unusual for any medication and I'm worried there may be something else going on.

If you are having some difficulties with urination, you can be treated with Flomax. I had been taking Flomax from about 1995 till 2008. In 2008 after having had a severe kidney infection and pneumonia, I discovered that I have a fistula between my rectum and prostate. From March 2008 up to now I have lived with a catheter. Therefore ther is no need for the Flomax at this time.
I'm 4 months away from being 47.

s from the Flomax my husband takes and that it will take longer for his vision to clear.(the Dr. was aware of the flomax before surg.) What has been your experience with this troublesome outcome? My husband is very discouraged.
My urine is always clean. I was given flomax but refuse to take it because of ejaculate going backwards and might faint. What can I do to solve this? I usually go to acupuncture but this pandemic is closing everything.
Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH. The urge frequency was sometimes unbearable!! Anyhow started on Flomax, and in just one day noticed the frequency (6-8x day to 4x) and urgency diminished.

My neurologist recently put me on a Detrol LA for a week, then had me add Flomax. I noticed a slight improvement with the Detrol, but when I added the Flomax things urinary got dramatically better. But, shortly after starting the Flomax, I discovered that I did not produce any ejaculate! Not that sex is a big thing with me (staying upright while standing takes precidence), but it is still an important part of life (if only rarely).
Age 64, with flomax I experience no pleasure with my orgasms. Is this because of the retrograd ejac. or is it a side effect of the medication? I may need to have surgery to improve my urinary flow, but retrograde ejac is
a common outcome of these surgeries, and I need to know if I am at risk for losing my orgasm pleasure . I do see an occasional posting of men who have lost their pleasure after these surgeries, with no recourse.
I have SEVERE lower back pain(Continually) my doctor gave me Cipro (Antibiotic) thinking perhaps I had an infection, I've finally taken all the antibiotic, however the lower back pain still present. Are there other proven symptoms I may have that I am not aware of, doesn't hurt when I urinate, however I don't always empty my bladder, I take Flomax(without Flomax I probably wouldn't even be able to go to the bathroom.
