9140881 tn?1403241119 Ive been having alot of pain in my left leg and went to the dr she gave me flexeril and she said it was safe just to take as needed I hate taking anything especially since im pregnant. Avatar m tn I had sciatica for sometime and found it crippling. During the course of a check-up my GP did a check for Vitamin B12 levels and I was very low. B12 is the only vitamin that cannot be directly absorbed by the body and requires a gland in your stomach to emit an enzyme to allow it to absorb. As you get older this gland can stop working. They will do a blood test looking for an "intrinsic factor" to see if your stomach is capable of absorbing B12.
7188197 tn?1399464311 I know that overcoming a narcotic addiction is pure hell, been there, done that. I have chronic back problems also, including sciatica on both sides. You may want to talk to your doctor about low back exercises & physical therapy, if you haven't already. I am currently taking Tramadol as needed, Flexeril & ibuprofen. Be careful with Tramadol as it is a synthetic opiate derivative, although it's not classified as a narcotic. I only take mine when I have severe pain.
Avatar f tn I went to a new doc in November 08 (had to change due to insurance) and she agreed that it sounded like sciatica and treated it differently with prednisone and prescription strength naproxen. She also ordered a lower back xray and PT for a month. The x-ray was questionable and the doc that saw me for that believed it to be muscle related. So he gave me flexeril and hydrocodone for the pain, also ordered a lumbar MRI.
Avatar m tn My immediate thought was sciatica, which I have had intermittently, but which tormented my second wife for much of her last several years. She had other mobility problems by then, and really couldn't participate in much physical therapy. As a result, she managed by using the max dosage of Flexeril, plus she was already using some serious pain relievers for this and other problems.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering from on and off again lower back pain and sciatica for the past year. I also have GAD, BPH,and high blood pressure. I went to see the Ortho today and he prescribed 10mg hyro and 10 mg Flexeril until I can schedule PT again. I am going to make sure to go through all 3 weeks so that my cheap insurance will pay for an MRI. I had one a little over a year ago thatt revealed a bulged disc at L4 or L5...can't remember which.
232328 tn?1207090071 Hi there. I was prescribed flexeril today for some back pain. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is? If it is addicting? Will it make me sleepy/hyper, etc?
Avatar m tn Does anyone know very much about Flexeril? I just received an call from someone that thinks they may have overdosed on it. He usually does not take it and took up to ten 10mg tablets today and feels somewhat out of it. 100mg in one shot shouldn't do too much should it? He is in No. CA and I'm in So. CA so I can't get to him. Should I be concerned about him not waking up? Apparently he took six of them yesterday and I read the half life is 1-3 days.
Avatar f tn Hi again has anyone tried Flexeril (muscle relaxant)? Any bad side effects and did it help pain , I have I guess myofascial pain. Any trouble with withdrawal gettnig off of it?
Avatar f tn Thats what my doc prescribed for me as well. Flexeril is safe to take during pregnancy. you can look up prescription meds at drugs.
Avatar m tn ve been on several different muscle relaxers including Skelaxin and Flexeril. Skelaxin did not help me at all but Flexeril did. The Flexeril worked great for many years until it stopped and I had to switch to a new med and that's when my Dr put me on the Soma. The Soma does work great but I struggle to keep it under control.
Avatar n tn it might be you sciatica nerve (sp?) it might be pinched and it can be super painful! try a hotish bath or a shower with the water on a massage pulse. other then that talk with your dr.
Avatar m tn Hello, reading your post is like looking at my medical records when my journey with back pain began, mine was a bit more complicated but we are talking same place of pain L4 L5 ,L5 S1 With Sciatica. I used to discribe the siatic pain as if someone took a rubberband and was pulling it as tight as possible then connecting it to an electrical current. I know what you are talking with the leg cramps..awful. I am glad to hear the stretching and strengthening excercises are working for you.
459075 tn?1224121598 I was prescribed that along with hydro for my back and sciatica problems. I didn't find it to be addicting. Like Avisg, it does make you very sleepy. I actually took it while detoxing and it did knock me out and was able to sleep. I didn't think it helped with the back at all though. Just make sure you don't have any plans the first time you take it. It made me so tired I wasn't able to do anything.
Avatar f tn Alcohol and flexeril are both central nervous system suppressants and consuming alcohol while taking flexeril compounds the drowsiness, confused thinking, respiratory suppression of the muscle relaxant. Flexeril/alcohol combos are frequent causes of accidental overdose. I would avoid the alcohol while taking the flexeril completely. If you already were consuming alcohol, I would skip the flexeril for at least 12 hours or more, depending upon how much alcohol you consumed.
514704 tn?1228312637 These cysts can compress nerve roots, causing lower back pain, sciatica (shock-like or burning pain in the lower back, buttocks, and down one leg to below the knee), urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction, and some loss of feeling or control of movement in the leg and/or foot. Pressure on the nerves next to the cysts can also cause pain. Tarlov cysts may become symptomatic following shock, trauma, or exertion that causes the buildup of cerebrospinal fluid.
Avatar n tn Hi Susie, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear about your pain. It is exactly how I use to describe my pain. A cardinal symptoms of SIJD is when you can point to the exact spot in your buttock and say, "This is where the pain is." Yes as suggested above sciatica is a symptom of SIJD. Sciatica is a symptom and not a diagnosis.
Avatar f tn ago, I started having back problems, which became degenerative disk disorder, spinal stenosis, sciatica, etc. I now have extensive nerve damage. The point is that ever since this began, my eyelashes have been falling out. I'll admit I'v never been very nice to my lashes, with lots of mascara and probably not proper removal of it, but I've still never had a problem until this happened. Now, I wear mascara maybe 3 times a week and use the best makeup remover I can.
Avatar f tn Flexeril is not addictive if you use it only when needed I took it for years for a bad back but you dont get hi on it so for the most part if taken as directed your ok just stay away from soma that is a different story...................................Gnarly.....................................
Avatar f tn I have taken flexeril, could not take more than a 1/4 or I would feel very odd. Maybe that was a good thing. You can get a pill cutter and start cutting your dose. We aren't allowed to talk about how to dose hopefully you can get the jist of this. While trying to wean down I would up your vitamins. There is something called a Thomas Recipe but that is for narcotics,so not sure if it would work for you. Your muscles may need more magnesium than normal.
221387 tn?1210933058 I have a question, I took a drug screen but I took flexeril, will flexeril make you fail a drug screen. Anyone that can help me I will be ever so greatful!!!
Avatar f tn Hope you feel better. If you are getting palps from Flexeril you need to get off of it and try something else. Flexeril causes palps and can cause problems. You may want to get an EKG followed by a 24 monitor like I had to do. That is how I fould out I have preatrail contractions. I then did the echocardiogram to make sure I didn't have any structural damage. The PAC's are benign but PVC's can cause some problems.
