Avatar n tn An underactive thyroid is treated with thyroid replacement hormones such as Synthroid. Fibromyalgia has been treated with muscle relaxers such as Flexeril, antidepressants such as Cymbalta, and pain management like gabepentin (Lyrica).
Avatar f tn I've tried both Soma and Flexeril (not at same time!) for muscle relaxers (I have fibromyalgia, lupus, severe arthritis). Really the only side effect I've experienced with the Flexeril is that it makes me VERY sleepy, but when I'm hurting and having trouble getting the rest that I need, that actually is a good thing!
Avatar m tn After being on Aropax for some time ,I developed symptoms of Fibromyalgia. The drugs side affects did cause mild muscle akes and muscle spasims but nothing bad until I got the Fibro myalga. I ran an experiment with my Doctor and weaned off them and the Fibromyalga went over a few weeksin a decreasing fashion. I then went back on it again and the problems returned.
Avatar f tn the pains are stabbing pains all over my hands and occasionally on my arms, and last for about 30 minns-and hour. but then go away for an hour but come back. im not sure if this is related to a previous illness or what, o weather it is worth dragging myself into the doctor again.
Avatar f tn I had been taking Flexeril for 20 years to help me sleep and it stopped helping me a year ago. GP put me on Amitriptyline 10mg a year ago after a couple weeks it started to help some but haven’t gotten much more than 4-6 hours of sleep most nights sometimes 7 hrs. GP tried upping Amitriptyline but I got weird side effects so dropped back to 10mg..GP added Melatonin 5-10mg a couple months ago helped for awhile but now I go nights with no sleep to 2or 4 hours. Anyone else’s have this issue?
Avatar f tn My doctor just put me on medication for fibromyalgia today- It is Vicodins for pain. Does Effexor XR and Zoloft help these since he put me on all three?

Dog I have had fibromyalgia for years and know that pain well. I take Cymbalta and Flexeril for that. After a slip on the ice this past winter I have developed sciatic nerve pain from my buttocks down to my ankle. It sometimes feel like a sharp stabbing pain that is not pleasant and is beginning to affect my job, which is physically demanding. Any suggestions on what medications can help decrease this pain.
Avatar f tn I also take Lyrica for nerve pain, Trazadone and Flexeril at night to help with sleep and muscle spasms, and I am on Zoloft and bloodpressure meds. I went a long time with no pain meds then to Tramadol then to Lortab, etc.... I have very high pain levels on a daily basis plus I have a high tolerance to meds so the weaker ones never worked well for me. The meds I am on now help more than anything else ever has and I am so thankful! I still have pain but it is a lot easier to deal with now.
Avatar m tn only thing that came back abnormal was my Vitamin D which I am on 50,000 IU a week. Also on Flexeril 10MG x2 for muscular tightness spasms. When I stand my body feels as if it is struggling to stand. My legs will shake and my heart rate will be at 110-126 Beats per minute. My resting heart rate used to be 64-70. My arms also feel heavy but not as bad as my legs. My wrist sometimes hurt but I do strengthening exercises such as grip squeeze and the pain will go away.
1387175 tn?1326400997 Her Dr has her on 3 long acting pills per day and 4 for breakthrough pain. She also takes Flexeril and it really helps her back pain. Have you ever tried this med before? It might help better than the Soma. How long have you been on your meds? Sometimes if a patient is on the same meds for a long time they need to change to something else because our bodies can get used to the meds and they just don't work as well. I'm so sorry you're going through this.
Avatar m tn Wow, I'm out of action for at least 16 hours after just one Flexeril! And for the entire next day I'm a space cadet.
232328 tn?1207090071 Hi there. I was prescribed flexeril today for some back pain. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is? If it is addicting? Will it make me sleepy/hyper, etc?
Avatar f tn My back is really bothering me!! Hurts so bad and can't relax for anything!! I'm 35 weeks and really want to! Has anyone taken a muscle relaxer or even a half of one?
Avatar n tn She initially prescribed Flexeril which did nothing for me. She now is recommending PT for the neck/back muscle pain, and Cymbalta for the fibromyalgia. I am fearful of taking this as I hear some bad things about withdrawal symptoms. She still has me taking the Methotextrate until she can completely rule out RA. Lupus and thryoid autoimmune disorders have been ruled out. I should mention I have a very low vitimin D level (5), and have been placed on a vitamin supplement.
Avatar n tn I swear by Flexeril! I have dealt with Chiari symptoms for over 20 years now and now if I take a Flexeril right when the headache starts to come on, I fall asleep and wake up as if I never had the headache. It is a miracle drug for Chiari headaches!!
Avatar m tn For 30 years I have had severe pain in the neck, ribs, low back, SI joints, wrist, fingers and toes. I have had plaque psoriasis, and gutate psoriasis. My index fingers are starting to turn inward along with the toes on my feet in the same digit location as my hands. I gave up on Dr.s years ago as they didn't manage the pain well.
Avatar f tn Could anyone tell me if having muscle spasms are part of Fibromyalgia? I have several a month in my back. They are not painful, but just jolt me for a few minutes. There is no rhyme or reason for them they come whenever they want to. Because of these I do not drive as they take away my concentration for a few moments while I am having one. Please if anyone has any idea what these are could they please help me. I have been to every kind of Dr.
Avatar f tn Hope something of this helps you out, go ahead and focus on the idea that you have fibromyalgia and get better pain relief for it, and get some physical treatment for your shoulder and neck area. Go for your rescan in six months, but put it on the back burner in your mind. Keep us posted if you like, and perhaps someone else might throw their two cents in.
Avatar m tn I too like Mellie have fibromyalgia and only have occasional flair ups, I have a pain management doctor who does not treat my fibromyalgia but have a rheumatologist that does.
