Avatar n tn It sounds like flax seed (I figured an ointment/liquid form for the eyes, one must read carefully) may be a good ongoing treatment as a simple food additive, if the dog will eat it. Is flax seed a seed? Where does one purchase it - I can check Amazon to see what they offer, but it may be a grocery store item for human consumption. I try to ruse Opt morning and night, and wonder if using it once a day and say "artivicial tears" (for humans) once a day.
Avatar f tn I use a stabalized ground flax seed product to provide about 2/3 of my daily Omega-3 and a high quality fish oil capsule for the final third. The flax adds a pleasant nutty flavor to the small portion of yogurt I mix it with. I use products with (if I remember right) a 6:1 ratio of Omega-3:Omega-6. I get plenty of O-sixes from my diet (they are easy for most of us) but don't eat nearly enough foods rich in O-threes to keep a good ratio going.

Avatar f tn SOME Benefiber is inulin, but be careful to read the labels, because some Benefiber is wheat bran or fiber. Flax seed meal is generally more budget friendly and more allergy friendly. Trader Joe's is a good source for an affordable package of Bob's Red Mill flax seed meal. You can add it to just about anything. It actually tastes pretty good with rice and other starches. During an elimination diet--no potatoes. Again, another top allergen.
Avatar n tn In my particular case, simply taking fiber cereal daily with plenty of water and a flax seed oil gel tab., alternating with a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil every other day has tremendously reduced my hot flashes and night sweats. This regimen has also helped stabalize my mood and energy levels, so much so, that I feel well enough that I even "want" to go walking and exercise now. Have a blessed day.

They're tiny seeds that have very little taste and can easily be put in almost any food. You would avoid the cyanogenic compounds, but the risk of rancidity would remain. If you are interested in using flaxseed oil, look for a brand that contains all the beneficial compounds found in the intact seed. These include the phytochemicals known as lignans. Flaxseed oils should be stored in the refrigerator or freezer.

There are some prescription meds that can be tried, and you should have some testing done depending on what your medical history is, what a physical exam reveals, and what the doc feels would be the right course to try to find out what's going on. I know it can be very difficult to find a doc when you have Medicaid, but you're going t have to keep trying.

If this is not available in China, you might be able to find psyllium husk. In America it is often sold as Metamucil, but I recommend against buying the brands like Metamucil, because these have additives in them, like artificial sweeteners and artificial flavorings. These additives are things you should definitely avoid.
