It's supposed to be the world's best source of omega-3 fatty acids, especially ALA, better than fish oil and better than flax seed oil. Could be true...
163322 tn?1458676408 Actually, I don't use flax seed oil. I use flax seed meal, mixing it into granola, oatmeal, smoothies, etc. Its great for making corn bread. But I'm not on triple therapy either. And I love coconut anything!
1986030 tn?1327535359 Our acupuncturist suggested 15g of water soluble fiber at night, and it resolved his issues within a few days. He also took 1 immodium for a few days as well to firm up his stools. I've suggested this to numerous people both here and on his blog, and and received very positive feedback. You need to make sure that the fiber is water soluble, as I understand that other fibers can bind to the medication.
Avatar n tn A friend of mine suggested sprinkling a little bit of ground flax seed on food. I haven't tried it yet, but it's worth a shot.

3064509 tn?1340675643 After eating fiber, ALWAYS drink water. Look into soluble and insoluble fiber. Take lots of oils - fish oil, flax seed oil, coconut oil, etc. Be sure to do 2 tbs of each staggered throughout the day. Remove gluten, pasta, rice and absolutely anything constipating from your diet. No one ever seems to want to do this but it's crucial in not developing further problems down the road!!! Set a certain 'time' to use the bathroom. Morning is best.
Avatar f tn to help me, I take a gummy fiber supplement, I put ground flax seed in my yogurt, drink lots of water, and eat beans too. Hope that helps!
3867523 tn?1348949685 I've heard several places that a fiber supplement is helpful to control the diarrhea discomfort from incivek. I've also heard to make sure that you use a water-soluble one, but none of them say water soluble. They say soluble fiber supplement. Are all of these water soluble. I don't want to take something that will absorb my incivek.
Avatar f tn Note that if you were to take a purified flaxseed oil, you would get the omega-3s but not the fiber or phytochemicals naturally present in flax. You would avoid the cyanogenic compounds, but the risk of rancidity would remain. If you are interested in using flaxseed oil, look for a brand that contains all the beneficial compounds found in the intact seed. These include the phytochemicals known as lignans. Flaxseed oils should be stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
Avatar n tn Jasmine, if you've tried all of those things then the next step is unfortunately finding a doc to work with you. There are some prescription meds that can be tried, and you should have some testing done depending on what your medical history is, what a physical exam reveals, and what the doc feels would be the right course to try to find out what's going on. I know it can be very difficult to find a doc when you have Medicaid, but you're going t have to keep trying.
2046312 tn?1360379600 Blend flax seed in coffee blender, mix with peanut or almond butter, and eat on an apple with a glass of milk. This was all I could stomach that early.
Avatar n tn I have changed my diet by eating oatmeal, picking on nuts, only have brown rice and whole wheat pasta and looking for cereal high in soluble fiber. Since I incorporated high fiber foods in my diet, I have alot of bloating and gas. I dring about 8 glasses of water a day, but still have alot of gas pain. Is this normal? Also, since I take fish oil every day (GNC brand - 900 mg), should I still put flax seeds in my diet? Do I need both? If not, which is better to fight cholesterol?
Avatar m tn t find the flax seed meal, look for the whole flax seeds and grind them yourself. Be sure to keep all flax seed in the refrigerator. If this is not available in China, you might be able to find psyllium husk. In America it is often sold as Metamucil, but I recommend against buying the brands like Metamucil, because these have additives in them, like artificial sweeteners and artificial flavorings. These additives are things you should definitely avoid.
Avatar f tn Go to vitamin cottage or another natural grocer and get flax seed oil.take a spoon full a day. Much less harmfull then laxitive(I would recomend not taking laxitive, espicaly if your pregnant) & its got the omegas that is so good for your skin & baby!
Avatar n tn Hello -- I have been trying to find out whether consuming flax seed would interfere with the efficacy of the taxol / herceptin treatments that I am receiving for my breast cancer. I understand from a study done at the University of Toronto that flax seed may help to eliminate breast cancer. However, I would not want to consume anything that would interfere with my regular medical treatment. The cancer is in the left side of my lymph system. It is estrogen-receptor and HER-2 positive.
1727909 tn?1314845210 Hi there! Well, without a detailed description or a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to say if the hunger could be related to GERD and if it would resolve with a surgical intervention. Aside GI causes, increased hunger could also result from hormonal/ endocrine and neurological causes. I would suggest consulting a gastroenterologist for a detailed evaluation and suggestion of an appropriate management plan. Hope this is helpful. Take care!

Avatar n tn i just started treatment with telaprevir, and have used flax seed oil for the fat on one dose and will use it again. the problem with flax seed oil is it goes rancid really fast. so if you are going to use it make sure you buy from a very reliable source that refrigerates the oil and check the date. yesterday i bought an 8 ounce bottle of barlean's flax oil that was pressed on 9/15/10 with an expiration of 3/15/11. so make sure it is supper fresh. rancid oil will cause liver damage.
Avatar m tn why then are berry fruits recommended, even though they have Tannins, which are beneficial, but their insoluble fiber to soluble fiber ratio are significantly greater. same for almonds and nuts, as can be seen in links: http://commonsensehealth.com/soluble-fiber-insoluble-fiber-foods-list/ http://huhs.harvard.edu/assets/File/OurServices/Service_Nutrition_Fiber.pdf are they recommended by some people because each person has a unique intestinal flora.
1679513 tn?1342481238 Water water water! Try drinking 2 warm pints every morning as soon as possible after waking (I blend a lemon and a chunk of fresh ginger into mine) and then take in regular fluid throughout the day (totalling around 3-4 litres) Diluted juice and fruit teas are good ways to top up. This has been a morning habit of mine for years although at19 weeks pregnant i am finding that i still need way more fluid in the day than normal...but i haven't had a day of constipation...Good luck!
Avatar n tn It sounds like flax seed (I figured an ointment/liquid form for the eyes, one must read carefully) may be a good ongoing treatment as a simple food additive, if the dog will eat it. Is flax seed a seed? Where does one purchase it - I can check Amazon to see what they offer, but it may be a grocery store item for human consumption. I try to ruse Opt morning and night, and wonder if using it once a day and say "artivicial tears" (for humans) once a day.
Avatar n tn Ugh i hate it! Im 19w 2d and i have this lovely cycle of constipation, normal & then diarrhea. Been like this since the beginning. I eat healthy & try to do more natural things to help but doc said metamucil is fine to take.
Avatar n tn re not constipated (super easy to get constipated with the extra weight from the baby putting pressure on your bowls). I added chia seeds and flax seed to oatmeal and smoothies, ate fresh fruit and incorporated more greens. I also tried to limit dairy. Warm lemon water helps too! This will make bowl movements less painful. Also, go when you gotta go if you know what I mean. Holding it will put strain on the blood vessels and cause hemorrhoids.
