Ever since I can remember, on my thumbnail and big-toe nail, there has been a strange deterioration. It looks like a series of grooves in the center of the nail (see attached pictures). My fingernails aren't weak or brittle and they're not really falling off or anything. I don't think it's anything serious, but I've always been curious what it is. If anybody could help at all, that would be great.
Why is my fingernail on my middle finger starting to pull away from my skin and turn white and the bottom half is pitting and peeling? What could this be?
Two months ago I trapped my finger stupidly in the door (where the hinges are) and today the nail finally fell off. I have added a photo as I am not sure if everything is ok. I guess what is the nail is growing back but its like a half inch bump in the middle of the nail, Could anyone recommend if I should leave nature take it's course, or should I see a doctor?
Could this be a type of fingernail material growing from the scalp? The physical consistency of this 'hair' strongly resembles that of a fingernail. Extensive searching the net has found nothing. Surely my daughter is not the only case like this. I read about keratin, but it seems the keratin in hair and nails is the same.
I was poking at a small scab on my shaft and used my fingernail to pop a small blister. I then put some soap on turned on the water and started to lather my hand, but then before I could get the water on my hand my fingernail I was using dug into my other hands skin and broke the skin and drew blood. I washed my hands for about a min but my question is I had blister waterish on my fingernail and went into skin. Could have I just transferred the fluid into my skin ?

You seem to be having onychomadesis which is separation and falling off of a nail from the nail bed. Common causes are trauma to the nail, localized infection, nail fungi, allergy to nail enhancement products or some systemic illnesses. My sincere advice is to consult a dermatologist and get a histopathological examination, culture and biopsy of the skin around the nails and the nails done.

Obtaining sample nail clippings and sending it off for a fungal culture can confirm the diagnosis of an infection. If present, then appropriate anti-fungal medications should be started.
There are also various rheumatological diseases that can present with fingernail symptoms, and if suspected, various anti-antibody tests can be done as well as a referral to a rheumatologist.

Last night I was at a strip club with some friends and I got a lap dance from one of the girls. My finger was dry and the skin below the fingernail area was peeling so there was a small cut. I don't believe it was bleeding at the time, however the outer layer of my skin is peeled off and you can see the red skin beneath. I have done some research and searched the forums but I could not find a similar question.

Forgive me if I am wrong but is the blood stream not just that i.e if you bleed then the item/object eg the fingernail has penetrated direct into your blood stream? Please explain as this is very concerning for me after being scratched when shaking hands and it caused me to bleed quite a bit from my finger.

Cut off the loose nail portion close to the skin without cutting into the skin. A pair of fingernail nippers or fingernail scissors work best. Then brush on pure tea tree oil a couple of times a day.

I scratched it using my fingernails and i noticed the pimple rash had a blood (red but the blood did not went outside the body) and i checked the fingernail that i used there is no visible blood also...

I've lost about 60% of my hair and now my toenails are brittle and some falling off; I also have ongoing night foot muscle spasms. Thyroid results (TSH, FT4, antibodies) are normal and I did have a slightly elevated PTH in the past. Any thoughts on what would be causing these symptoms?
Fingering is not a risk of HIV transmission cut with a fingernail or not.
