If I need part of my fingernail removed due to ingrown fingernai, will a doctor use novacaine. The podiatrist did do that when I needed an ingrown toenail removed. Will a dermatologist do the same?
My fingertips on my right hand have severe pain. It started in my pointer finger. I thought it might be ingrown fingernail so I used fingernail clippers to get it out(with no success of seeing signs of ingrown fingernail).. well each day i woke up it was in a different fingertip. This lasted about a week and went away. It came back a few weeks ago but much worse. All my fingertips are sore, but the severity of it moves every couple days to a new finger.

well i heard that if you use alot of cream down there it makes it more possible for outbreaks to occur.. and im pretty sure i have a bikini line infection where the hairs along my bikini line become ingrown and I just dont know what is safe to use down there an what isnt. i broke my fingernail about 2 weeks ago down underneath the skin in the middle underneath the nail, and it has finally grown back above the skin under the nail. but now where my cuticle is only one one side of the finger has turned into like a blood blister looking thing. its reddish/purplish and really small, probably smaller than the backside of a bic pen. i popped it thinking it was a blister but nothing came out it just looked like red flesh underneath with no puss or anything.
I have found a red bump in my pubis region about the size of a fingernail. It does not hurt but it is a hard, raised bump. It has a darker spot in the middle. Thought it was an ingrown toenail. Can lift both sides of nail and slide fingernail under. Cannot see nail digging in. Pain is halfway down side of nail on both sides. There was some tenderness under center of nail last week but is dissipating. No discoloration. Have stubbed toe several times in last few weeks. Tried cotton under nail edges, wouldn't stay. Used dental floss under edges and not really doing anything.
Cut off the loose nail portion close to the skin without cutting into the skin. A pair of fingernail nippers or fingernail scissors work best. Then brush on pure tea tree oil a couple of times a day.
Today the bump is still there and is swollen and now it is sore. Now it looks sort of raw (could have been my fingernail) and slightly yellow in color and there is red like stained blood or blood under the skin where it came out. I'm wondering if this is herpes. If so it could easily be an ingrown hair. all you have to do it pop it like a zit (which is VERY PAINFUL and I cant do it) or just wait it out ...

I frequently get ingrown hairs on the corner of lip area and chin which create little pimples. I am currently taking benzaclin and erythromycin gel at night and Evoclin foam in the day. I also tweeze and wax the hairs. I was wondering if tretinoin cream would help prevent ingrown hairs due to increased epithelial cell turnover?
I know laser treatment would be most beneficial but cannot afford it at the moment.
You need to see an ophthalmologist tomorrow. Fingernail scratches can transmit bacterial from under the nails and often require antibiotic eyedrops. The foreign body sensation likely comes from the cornea being scratched. Home treatment would be limited to using artificial tears or lubricating ointments.
