Avatar m tn http://www.ncpa.org/pub/ba649 So my brother in law sends me some canned crap about health care. Him being a senior citizen, the future of health care means a lot to him. Since he can't make heads or tails out of Universal Health Care, he's taken to trying to find everything he can regarding universal health care. The email he sent me had statistics on hip replacement, cancer survival, cancer treatments and how many MRI machines per 1000 people in each country.
1833444 tn?1325557062 Agreeing with Advocate1955, be sure to discuss this with your doctor. There's a condition called 'Terry's Nails' that is sometimes associated with advanced liver disease: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry's_nails It doesn't really sound as though this is what you're describing, but you should let them know regardless.
Avatar m tn At the top of the fingernail, where it grows out fron the finger, is a small semi-circle of white then the rest of the finger nail is pinkish. Prior to moving to where I now live my nails all had this little area now 3 years later only my thumbs do. Can anyone tell me if this is something to be concerned about? Thanks for any help!!
220090 tn?1379167187 You are a man after my heart. Why is the US so behind in health care? Why can't we get universal health care? I guess it is the profit issue. I found it interesting that Switzerland solved the issue by making it illegal to make a profit on basic health care.
Avatar f tn He was warning against legislation that would guarantee health care for older Americans — the program now known as Medicare. Conservative Republicans still hate Medicare, and would kill it if they could — in fact, they tried to gut it during the Clinton years (that’s what the 1995 shutdown of the government was all about). But so far they haven’t been able to pull that off.So John McCain wants to destroy the health insurance of nonelderly Americans instead.

264121 tn?1313029456 I was just wondering if anyone else has had the experience of health care providers who have some personal experience with hcv that they talk about. With only a couple of exceptions, everyone in the medical field who cared for me through diagnosis and treatment was exceptionally kind to me. And I had a few who told me about their own hcv experiences. I had one doctor with a best friend who achieved SVR on monotherapy.
Avatar n tn They may also suggest some other places you can go to for health care according to your situation. If your chest pains get too bad go to the ER. They can't refuse you. At least I don't think so.
Avatar f tn Is there anyone else in this group with military health care?? Not getting much of a say about when scans or done. I also recently had hip surgery in July and have hard wear in my hips. Not sure if natural is a good idea but worried military will glance over the problem and do what's easier or cheaper. Thoughts.......
6520484 tn?1399082398 ve had nothing but wonderful experiences with my obgyn. We should really be grateful for the health care we have. Sometimes it seems slow and annoying, but being pregnant everything has gone smoothly and wonderful. Any other Canadians feeling pretty happy about how easy we have it through pregnancy?
Avatar m tn ve had this happen to me more than once) Any serious crunching to the nail on your finger will cause this to happen - the bruising underneath the nail is what causes it to fall off, and the bump in the middle of where the nail used to be is actually the new fingernail growing back.
Avatar f tn I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Am I at risk of a serious disease if I get a very mild scratch from the fingernail of another person? It happened to me while travelling in a crowded train from an unknown man's fingernail who was standing next to me. No bleeding, just a mild scratch, with very little skin abrasion. I have had a tetanus shot in december 2010 and a three shot anti-rabies vaccination about 11 months ago. Am I ok?
Avatar f tn Is fingernails determine who the father is?
Avatar f tn Why is my fingernail on my middle finger starting to pull away from my skin and turn white and the bottom half is pitting and peeling? What could this be?
Avatar n tn Your fears are irrational and unfounded. You need to educate yourself on HIV transmission. Health care workers don't re-use equipment for blood draws. In fact most equipment used today are single use only, and are impossible to re-use. Lancets, for example are engaged with a button and immediately the needle goes back into the housing. The lancet cannot be "re-cokcked" and used again. Same with equip for venipunctures. Gloves or not, that is no risk.
Avatar n tn Can HIV be transmitted if semen got underneath a fingernail? In otherwords, is the tissue underneath the fingernail vulnerable to passing HIV into the blood stream?
Avatar m tn appearance, with no lunula (the crescent-shaped whitish area of the bed of a fingernail). It is thought to be due to a decrease in vascularity. Hence there appears a red or brown distal transverse band on the tip of fingernail. It is found in severe liver disease like cirrhosis, diabetes mellitus, congestive heart failure, hyperthyroidism, and/or malnutrition. Since your liver enzymes are normal, chances are less likely that you have terry nails.
Avatar m tn I have a rather large splinter wedged under my fingernail. I've tried to dig it out unsuccessfully with tweezers and a long pin. I soaked it in eardrops for swimmers because I thought that might prevent infection. There's no blood and it doesn't really hurt. What should I do?
