Avatar m tn The symptoms that you are experiencing in your shoulders and arms, may be due to changes in the rotator cuff itself, or referred problems from the bones in your neck (cervical area). The tingling in your thighs and especially if this is on the outer thighs, and especially with you having a dull ache in your groin area, could be caused by a condition called meralgia paraesthetica. The nerve of the thigh is called the lateral cutaneous nerve it is also known as the lateral femoral nerve.

I have been dealing with constant upper back pain (mainly between shoulder blades) since May 5th.I am a 25 year old male and I went snowboarding for the first time in my life on March 30th. Avatar f tn I had cervical decompression and anterior fusion surgery 11/16/07. My recovery has been pretty good. My x-rays show good fusion. However I am now experiencing similar pain in my neck, shoulder and upper arm just like before my surgery. I have been fairly pain free since my surgery so this is very scary. Any ideas on what this is?
Avatar f tn And at times, the L side of my head tingles and I have burning in my upper arms. I had pt, epidurals, meds, and chiro. tx. MRI was done (2x) the one report I have shows the impression as: "1. No evidence of marrow edema or any abnormal signal is in the posterior paraspinal soft tissues to suggest soft tissue injury. 2. Small left paracentral protrusion of L3-L4. Small foraminal disc bulge mildly narrowing the left foramen at C4-C6.
Avatar f tn Muscles that run from the upper part of the cervical spine and attach to the upper ribs can also be restricted by wearing tight bras. Sports bras should not be worn all day long for this reason. It can also cause back pain and rib pain due to the constriction, and I would imagine in fibro, the pain would even be worse.
Avatar f tn Sometimes a rotator cuff tear will cause upper arm pain like you are describing but not often seen in both upper extremities at the same time. Have it checked out!
Avatar f tn Classification There are three types of cervical vertebra fusion Type 1 - Is a massive fusion of many cervical and upper thoracic vertebra ionto bony blocks. Type 2 - Is fusion at only one or twe interspeces. although hemivertebra, occipito-atlantal fusion and other anomlies might also occur. Avatar n tn 1. See an upper cervical chiropractor. See www.upcspine.com. If you react favourably to the first three or four adjustments you have an upper cervical problem. All of the nerves pass through your atlas opening - if you have a kinked neck all of the symptoms that people forever associate with "fibromyalgia" will go away with treatment. Monitor your progress carefully.
Avatar n tn I am a 53 year old male. I have left cervical radiculopathy. My family doctor noted absent reflex in the left arm and ordered an MRI. She prescribed Lodine and I have seen a Chiropractor for spinal manipulation with no relief. MRI CONCLUSION: 1. Left foraminal HNP C4-5 2. Right C3-4 bony spur 3.Mild degenerative disc disease C5-6 I am considering a percutaneous micro-decompression cervical discectomy with laser thermodiskoplasty. Do you have an opinion of the efficacy of this procedure?
Avatar n tn Fibromyalgia causes pain and symptoms on both sides and upper and lower body. It could be the start of it. It usually starts up after an illness or accident (injury). In the PC address put in "common symptoms of fibromyalgia" to see what else matches your symptoms. If you think you have it, bring a copy of the symptoms from the site (highlight yours) to your doctor and ask for a referral to a reumatoligist.

Avatar f tn Now, at 52 yrs of age, I'm experiencing back pain, upper (cervical) and lower (sacrum and lumbar). I recently had two MRIs and was told by a neurologist that I was a 'good candidate' for back surgery. I have bone spurs on C4-5. They also indicated that I had a lumbar compression at L5. Many years ago, when I gave birth to my son, I was unable to have my son naturally because the GYN noted that 'my tailbone' had been broken. I've attributed this to the fall/back injury from childhood.
358304 tn?1409713092 I'm also a worry wart, and I worry about having fibromyalgia. Everything started about 1.5 years ago. August of 2014. After doing a lot of exercise and running, out of nowhere, I noticed one night, that when having intercourse with my wife, my erections would sometimes HURT. It was bizarre. I just thought maybe I strained something, and thought nothing of it. Then after about 2 weeks of erectile pain, I went to the Dr., and he was not concerned and said to give it time.
17568 tn?1424977159 I am a non practicing dentist, & have had chronic muscle imbalance/pain issues in my chest, upper back & shoulders which has an official diagnosis of Upper Crossed Syndrome. Basically it is a shortening and tightening of the flexor musles, ie upper trap, lat dorsi, pecs, lev scapula/psoas and a weakening/lengthening of the extensors and serratus anterior, along with the muscles that support the spine logitudinally. All tests normal incl MRI emgs CT scans etc.
428266 tn?1295648380 Also, a few years ago I had an MRI on my cervical spine and it showed I had a bulging disk. I had experienced severe neck pain then but the ortho dr I saw at the time did not want me to have surgery yet. He actually told me I had a herniated disk the first time, and he wanted me to prolong surgery, when I went back the second time he said it was just a bulging disk. I was confused about that, and so was the pain managment dr. So what I'm dealing with now is pain all over basically.
Avatar m tn Does anyone here know of any relationship with autonomic dysfunction and cervical stenosis? I have found a little bit scouring the internet but nothing substantial. The reason I ask is that I was involved in a MVA and two weeks later all of my symptoms started. After the MRI's I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and a annular tear at C5-6 with moderate central canal stenosis.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am at a medical crossroads and was wondering if someone could answer a question about fibromyalgia syndrome. A brief history: I am a 36 yr. old male and have been suffering with chronic pain of some kind since elementary school. As a young boy it was headaches and muskuloskeletal pain. As a teenager it was headaches, upper back and neck pain.
Avatar n tn an ulcer or inflammation of the upper digestive tract). An upper endoscopy or upper GI series can be considered for this possibility. If negative, then I cannot think of any further testing to elucidate a GI cause. A manifestation of fibromyalgia is possible. Seeing a physiatrist (rehabilitation specialist) or pain specialist would then be a reasonable course of action. Followup with your personal physician is essential.
Avatar m tn Are those typical Fibro/CFS symptoms? My main daily pain areas are usually in my upper neck/base of the skull, my lower back right below the belt area, and the middle upper part of my back along my spine and shoulder blade tissue areas. I've been trying to research about Fibromyalgia and I keep reading that you must have 11 out of 18 tender points to be dx'ed as having Fibromyalgia (http://healthresearchtoday.com/fibromyalgia/book_103.htm), but the specific areas are never mapped out.
Avatar f tn Over the years, I've had frequent migraines along with upper back pain, anxiety and depression. The depression was treated on and off since I was 17 however the pain and migraines didn't become unbearable until about 5 years ago. Since that time, I have had a constant stabbing, burning pain in my lower neck, just below my shoulders, in the c 5-6 area.
